QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Aug 15, 2014 -> 09:10 AM) Cool previews, thanks friend! More are on the way.

I have been busy with school and work, and I promised these write ups, so I am going to post a few at a time and then go back and add them to a bigger topic thread. I know I promised you guys some write ups on some players for the 2015 draft, but I have been extremely busy with school and work. I am going to make a seperate thread for these, but Im going to post these here just to get the ball rolling. Here are my three favorite players for the draft... Daz Cameron, OF (6'1, 180lbs, R/R) Daz Cameron is probably my favorite in this upcoming draft class, and if I were a team with the #1 overall pick, I would easily take him first overall. The guys is an absolute tool shed (Hit-6, Power - 5, Glove - 6, Speed - 6, Arm - 6), he employs a very short and compact swing and combines that with explosive bat speed and solid, repeatable mechanics which allows him to make consistent hard contact. His speed makes him a serious threat on the basepaths. Above average arm strength, and should play in CF at the major league level. The son of former Sox outfielder, Mike Cameron. Pro Comps: Andrew McCutchen, Jacoby Ellsbury, Bryon Buxton and that one guy who wears 27 for the angels Kyle Tucker, OF (6'4, 175lbs, L/R) Kyle Tucker is an outfielder from Florida. He has a very wiry and athletic build, which offers some projection down the line. Right now he plays CF, but he projects better in a corner outfield spot in the majors. While he is a freak athlete, Tucker can flat out hit with his smooth lefty swing. His low hand load allows him to generate electric bat speed. Like Cameron, he is a true 5 tool player, and he projects to be a run producing slugger at the next level. Pro Comps: Grady Sizemore, Josh Hamilton, Matt Kemp. Justin Hooper, LHP (6'7, 225lbs) Justin Hooper is a starting pitcher from the state of California. Hoopers is an intimidating frame on the mound, he stands close to 6'8 and has a high waisted body with very long limbs. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot with limited arm action. He uses his length to his advantage, as he gets a good extension after his long strides. Very balanced on the mound and has a good downhill plain and has shown the ability to repeat his delivery. Right now he can reach 95 on the gun with his fastball, and is developing good off speed stuff as well. Fastball offers late movement, especially on the left side of the plate, curveball as late movement and hits the mid to high 70s and his changeup is his least developed pitch and hits the low to mid 80s. He has the change to be a elite starting pitcher in the ML. Pro Comps: Noah Syrengaard, Madison Bumgarner. I have more saved in a document somewhere, but when I'm free expect to see more.

If the team looses tonight and the season ended today, they would have secured the 9th pick in the draft. The team still has a shot of getting a pick as high as number 4 overall.

Let me guess, that Peptrika outing was all Robin's fault

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 08:01 PM) Taylor has been pretty great ever since coming to the Sox. Also, it's amazing how Davidson and Hawkins have gone absolutely quiet with the long ball. I wouldn't worry at all about Hawkins' power at all, everyone knows in the Sox FO that Hawkins can hit for power with the best of them but this season the Sox wanted him to develop his skills as a contact hitter by improving his pitch recognition and shortening his swing. The power is still there and will be there if and when he is ML ready, but for now the Sox want him to focus on making solid contact, not hitting home runs.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 06:26 AM) It would take Sale and Hawkins/Montas/T.Anderson/Micah Johnson or Danish if they didn't include Rodon AND Sale. There's just too much possible injury risk for another team to acquire just Sale as a centerpiece for a fellow franchise position player. I know, and I would never make that trade, but the Marlins are run by Loria so you never know what shenanigans he's up to.
-
I pray to God every night before I sleep and ask that said player is Giancarlo Stanton
-
I know he's only 17, but if everything comes together for Micker, I believe that he can be a superstar player for the White Sox down the line. His tools offer so much upside and his ceiling is so high, and his power potential is insane. Its going to be fun watching him develop over the next few years.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2014 -> 02:44 PM) I'm not sure about the guys on the "#2-#3" starter list. Those guys seem to me to be "guy who might very well be an ace but might also never sniff the big leagues" guys, and they seem like they're winding up as 2-3 starters because hey, it's in the middle. I don't know if you know this but those guys on that second tier have been spectacular this year on the farm.
-
Luis Martinex from the AZL team could be something special for the White Sox and he's only 19. He should up there with Adam's, Danish, and Montas.
-
I think that Micker is having a good year with the AZL club. Yeah he is striking out a lot, but you have to keep in mind that he is 17 years old and is holding his own against more advanced competition. I think that he is going to be a special player for the White Sox down the line.

I wish he stole more bases.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2014 -> 05:49 PM) If this franchise is sub .500 for 3 straight years, we have really big problems. No, remember that the Sox hired Robin with the assumption and expectation that team would be rebuilding. Honestly I do not see the team being competitive till 2016, and I expected them to win around 75 games this year.
-
I want a top ten pick this year and another top 15 pick next year. I think a few trades are coming that will guarantee a top ten pick, which will really benefit the team because the draft is pretty solid.
-
Trey M Micker Aldolfo Jake Jarvis
-
I have an idea: Jefferson Olacio as the future closer of the White Sox.
-
If you a prospect is struggling, why do you continue to play him everyday. Trey M (My favorite prospect in the system btw) is 0 for his last 39?, and is obviously stuck in a rut, but he keeps going out there everyday. Why not give him a chance to breathe and collect himself?

Baseball America White Sox Mid Season Top 10
Boopa1219 replied to GGajewski18's topic in FutureSox Board
Can you imagine a rotation with Sale, Quintana, Rodon, Danish and with Spencer Adams/Luis Martinez down the line? That sounds pretty scary and could make the Sox very dangerous for the years to come. In regards to the system in general, this is the strongest the farm has been in years, maybe a decade. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 18, 2014 -> 08:44 PM) They wouldn't give up Harvey for Danks and Beckham. Also, Keith Law had this to say about Sisco Kevin (Baltimore) Did any other Orioles come close to cracking your list? Also, have you seen Chance Sisco recently? His numbers have been ridiculous. Klaw (2:28 PM) No, although Rodriguez would be on the top 100 again. Saw Sisco a few weeks ago. He can't catch. No idea where they'll put him. I dont tend to listen to Keith Law that much when it comes to prospects, and I read more good things than bad things about Sisco. Back to what you were saying about acquiring Harvey, if I am going to trade you pitching, especially a quality pitcher at a affordable price like John Danks, I want pitching back.

QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Jul 18, 2014 -> 08:11 PM) Would anyone really want to draft Aiken after all this news about his UCL? If he's that prone to a future injury, why would anyone want him? That's like drafting Kerry Wood or Prior with foresight about their injury plagued careers. Not the the Astros didn't screwed the pooch on this one, plus treated Aiken terribly. I feel sorry for Astros fans. I would have a guy like Kerry Wood on my team as a GM, but I would still draft Aiken top 5 next year assuming that he performs worthy of that selection.

July 18 Game thread White Sox vs Astros
Boopa1219 replied to southsider2k5's topic in 2014 Season in Review
I think Bo Porter is a fantastic manager. Every time I watch the Astros, they always play fundamentally sound baseball and they're fun to watch.
