2018 MLB Draft
Here is a really good write up on Joey Bart from the Detroit Free Press. https://www.freep.com/story/sports/columnists/jeff-seidel/2018/05/17/detroit-tigers-joey-bart-fine-catch-no-1-mlb-draft/615256002/

2018 MLB Draft
Joey Bart. Kiley said that he expects him to be a fast riser too since he is so polished.

2018 MLB Draft
Right now I’m kind of hoping for Joey Bart. He’s the most advanced catcher to enter the draft since Wieters in 2007. He calls him own games (apparently Will Bannefield does too as a high schooler) and is very advanced behind the plate. He could be a fast riser through the system because unlike Zack Collins, he already knows how to catch. And unlike Collins, he’ll projects as a catcher long term. Everyone is saying that he’ll never hit for a high average but the power is real and he’s improved his plate disclipine when looking at his numbers. It seem more often than not, the teams who win in October are strong behind the plate.

2018 MLB Draft
I prefer Stewart because he has a 70/80 pitch in his curveball and he has better stuff than Liberatore, who is probably a better pure pitcher.

Just wait the three weeks and get the extra year of control. It'll be so worth it.

2018 MLB Draft
If the Sox were to draft Joey Bart what would that mean for Collins and Zavala? Would someone move off of the position?

2018 catch-all
Been working on a friend's film here in Chicago. It's her first time directing, so I was very excited to be apart of this and to do whatever I can to help her out on set as she figures out her process. We filmed in an old office building that we turned into an old dining room. Everyone was having a blast, music was playing (I like to bring a karaoke machine with me on my own stuff sometimes), we had great catering, everything was awesome. All that changed when one of the 'producers' came to set. While we're thankful for their connections that allowed us to use that space, they killed everyone's vibe and you could physically feel it too. They tried telling the director how to direct, actors how to read lines, where lights should go and when we were rolling they wouldn't stop talking. The two of us got into some really heated conversations throughout the course of the entire day because they were being disrespectful, wasting time and wasting money. This was supposed to be an eight hour day but ended up being twelve. This 'producer' was also an extra towards the end of the shoot and after they shot their scenes, they went to the bathroom without realizing that they were still mic'd up. We tried filming but our sound girl kept getting weird sounds from that microphone. She took her headphones off, played the feed out for us to hear but it was silent. After a moment we heard the messiest bowel movement in the history of bowel movements. It was thunderous to the point of being something that I will never un-hear. I never laughed so much in my life, it almost made dealing with all the bullshit worth it. Always turn your mic's off.

Brit newbie
Where from in the UK. I know a few people from Kent and Essex. But welcome to the club, it's going to be a bumpy ride for the next year or two but the team is amassing quite a haul of young talent. You're getting in at the ground level of something that could be great for a long time. Welcome

2018 MLB Draft
I'm hoping the pick at 4 is either (In no particular order): Mize (No way he falls to 4) Swaggerty (They finally get their Benintendi, could be a fast riser) Scott (Very toolsy but can rake) Kelenic (The Sox connection is there) Stewart (Curveball is disgusting)

Starting him in the pen would help preserve innings. I'm not advocating that he stays in the pen all year, I'm just saying for a short period of time (2-3 weeks?) when he is called up. I want him to hit that inning benchmark too. I don't think Fulmer is struggling because he started in the pen.

Question: If Kopech is called up do you want him to start in the pen or do you want him to start in the rotation?

You pull him out of the game so that not hustling down the line/not 'playing the game the right way' doesn't become a regular occurrence.

I think you're being totally ridiculous. Please take a deep breath and calm down. Hahn likes to say that development isn't linear and its true, it's very rare for a player to come to the bigs and be an instant success for a sustained period of time. Development still happens at the major league level. Pitchers need to learn how to pitch against top competition and on nights where they don't have their best stuff. Hitters need to learn how to face pitchers who have control of multiple quality pitches and guys out of the pen who throw 95mph+ The team traded away all of its top ML talent (except Abreu and Avi) and outside of the core young guys (Moncada, Anderson, Lopez, Giolito and Fulmer), the team is mostly full of fringe MLB talent, which is by design. While the window is closed and the young guys are figuring it out, the team can get good draft position, get another top pick and more INTL money to spend to fortify the org's talent base (I know they can't sign anyone over $300k, I'm just saying). I'm sure the players will perform better as the season goes along but this going according to plan. RELAX

I applaud Renteria for pulling out the team's most important player for dogging it in a game where they're getting blown out. Doing things like that help reinforce a work ethic and a culture amongst the players. Moncada will never do that again. I wonder what Abreu is going to say to him.

It is going to get worse before it gets better
They're a nice guideline but I wouldn't be quick to compare the Sox rebuild to the Cubs rebuild because everything the Cubs did happened to work out for them and that's just unrealistic.
