This is exciting, already trying to get the day off work. There has to be a way for them to manipulate the clock to get an extra year. Can’t they ‘keep him down’ next year to open the season to limit his days on the ML roster? I think the Dodgers did something similar with Walker Buehler, sending him to AAA and putting him on the DL.

Raul Ibanez or Josh Paul, please.

8/2 Sox v, Royal Lopez pitching

It’s very rare for a player to just come into the league and be a stud. Not just for the Sox but for every organization. Guys need time to develop. And if for those who think Moncada is a bust, he’s been a 2.5 WAR player with the Sox. That’s really impressive with him not being a finished product. -

Perfect tank game. Looez pitxhes great, leaves in the 8th with men on the corners and no one out... and Jace Fry enters? I’m scared that he can get out of this. -

Welcome to player development -
Early top four in no particular order: Adley Rutschman CJ Abrams Carter Stewart Bobby Witt Jr.

Oakland is definitely here to stay. Billy Beane and company have quietly built one of the best young cores in all of baseball with Olson, Chapman, Manaea, Trienen, Baretto, Fowler. They’re also have more talent coming in Puk (Who figures to be a big partner of their rotation this year before TJS) and Luzardo. The Oakland A’s buying at the deadline is great for baseball.

The Yankees entice me as a trade partner. They’re always looking to upgrade their bullpen and with Tommy Kahnle and Chasen Shreve pitching poorly all year, I don’t expect that to change. They also need someone to eat innings as Sonny Gray has been awful this year Some guys in their farm system that I like for the Sox and who I think are realistic gets are RHP Matt Sauer (NYY #10 (MLBP)/#15 (Fangraphs - 40 FV) Prospect) and RHP Cody Carroll (NYY #15 (MLBP)/#18 (Fangraphs - 40FV) Prospect). Sauer has some upside, he throws mid nineties and projects to be a middle of the rotation guy. He does have a funky head delivery and could be a reliever Carroll is a reliever who can probably pitch in the bigs now. MLB Pipeline has his fastball at 75 and Fangraphs has it at 65/70. He has had TJS before. And he sports a career 10.2 K/9. Some other guys that I like are Freicer Perez and Domingo Acevedo.

Race for the worst 2018 record (Top 5 pick) again

Definitely hoping for below 20 wins. It’s a stretch but every loss counts. -
TA: I Can Play Anywhere (talking about potential change to OF)

I’m not disputing that he’s sloppy but we have to remember that Tim Anderson is still pretty new to playing baseball, the fact that he’s playing shortstop at the ML level is impressive but I think he’s made some strides this year. One of the things that concerns me going forward is team defense, the Sox haven’t had a good defensive team since 2012? -

I hope the people clamoring for Machado realize that Tim Anderson is a better defensive shortstop than Machado. -

This is a bad move on Stewart’s part. The odds that he is good enough to be a top ten again are incredibly slim, he’s missing out on a lot of money even if the Braves are only offering him a max of 40% of the slot value for the eighth overall pick. Did he not see Brady Aiken? With being said, I do like players who bet on themselves and I’ll be rooting for Stewart and watching him closely next year. -
Yeah it stinks that they won’t be playing for a MILB team but there are ways to make up lost playing time like instructs, winter leauges, and the AFL. I don’t think that Jimenez was going to come up this year anyway. The Sox should probably get Robert one of those mits Trout and Ohtani wear.

Keep in mind that Ronald Acuna Jr was signed for $100K. I’m not saying that these guys are destined to be at his level but a lot of the time it’s the low level guys who breakout and become stars. Their prices are also determined by how many teams see them, the profile of the trainer, and so soon an agreement was made.

I didn’t get any sleep tonight but I did watch every Adley Rutschman video on YouTube and the dude can play. He’s making every play in the CWS. He’s the guy I want at this moment.

Me and my entire family saw Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (Felt really silly typing that out) on Thursday night in a real IMAX theater and I loved it. I think it’s way better than Jurassic World and easily the best since the original. I know it’s been getting some mixed opinions online, so I saw it again tonight to make sure that I wasn’t Phantom-Menacing the film. And yeah, I love it. The film struggles to get going but it when it does it’s an incredibly fun ride. Easily the scariest entry in the franchise. The director, JA Bayona, said that he said that he pitched a gothic Spanish thriller to Spielberg and Trevorrow which landed him the job and I think that angle is well executed. So many directions where they can take the sequel(s)

Some names to keep an eye on Joe Girardi Raul Ibanez - Dodgers Special Assistant to GM Brad Ausmus - Angels Special Assistant Brandon Hyde - Cubs Bench Coach/Has ties to the Sox Chris Woodward - Dodgers Third Base Coach Sandy Alomar Jr. - Indians First Base Coach/Has ties to the Sox Bo Porter - Braves Special Assistant Jayce Tingler - Rangers Special Assistant Josh Paul - Angels Bench Coach/Has ties to the Sox/Angels Catcher who dropped the third strike on AJ in the 2005 ALCS I was all for the Sox going after and hiring Gabe Kapler to replace Robin Ventura. Now, I still want someone who fits that mold.

Nice way to start the game by Moncada. And I will never understand batting Anderson 7th if the Sox are serious about his development. They need to bat him higher in the order where he can get more at bats and more at bats of consequence.

I don’t mind the loses but I can’t stand the poor fundamentals
-
This poor communication on the field and the poor display of fundamentals has to be a reflection of the manager right?
-
He's no Eli

Does anyone know if the White Sox have an in-house sports psychologist on staff? I know that is an area that the Cubs have invested heavily in but I wonder if the Sox have done the same. I ask because Lucas Giolito is a massive headcase seems like

How eventful will be this years deadline?
Boopa1219 replied to wrathofhahn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yeah that's true but he when he signed his deal he was an established star player in the league. Rodon isn't that so you could get something team friendly
