Giancarlo Stanton traded to Yankees
Gary Sanchez is the best hitter on the Yankees. Am I crazy for thinking this?

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 07:19 PM) He's not allowed to, so why would he open himself up to tampering accusations? My point exactly

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 07:18 PM) True, but one could easily infer or narrow down who it could’ve been I am not going to argue semantics but now we for sure know one target.

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 07:08 PM) Hahn saying multiple times that we’d be in on it wasn’t confirmation enough? He never mentioned a specific player before

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 06:56 PM) Why is everyone acting like we didn't already know this? This confirms it

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
The fact that they're looking at him now means that they'll be going for his services this time next year.

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 06:39 PM) I still feel like I must be taking crazy pills that I'm the only one weary of giving Machado who hasn't come close to being a bonafide middle of the order bat a 300 million dollar contract. You're insane. This isn't some guy who is rapidly approaching the wrong side of 30, next year will be his age 25 seasons. He's not even in his prime which is crazy to think about. And don't let last year's slow first half dominate your judgment too much because during the second half he hit .290/.326/.500. This is a guy who's good for 30HRs+ and 90RBI+ every year and has the ability to play an up the middle position at short and he's already proven to be a gold glove level defender at third. Guys like at, at his age, do not grow on trees and are extremely valuable.

2018 MLB Draft
QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Dec 8, 2017 -> 11:12 AM) I heard he's only doing travel ball this spring so hopefully he gets out there against some good competition. The Sox should have an advantage with him come draft time with him being so close by that they can probably watch him more or bring him in more often. He played for a Sox sponsored team

2018 MLB Draft
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 7, 2017 -> 03:05 PM) That's what we drafted before in Courtney Hawkins, Keenyn Walker, Jared Mitchell, look at how that has turned out. Not saying I don't want great athletes in the system, but give me the good baseball player who knows how to hit a ball very well and competent on defense. The organization and its infrastructure have changed a lot since then, let's not ignore that fact. And just because those guys didn't work out it doesn't mean that they should avoid 'athletes'. Using your logic, the Sox shouldn't go after any left-handed power hitters because Adam Dunn and Adam LaRoche didn't work out. That's not smart.

2018 MLB Draft
QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Dec 7, 2017 -> 11:44 AM) At this point I would be fine with absolutely any position as long as they aren't picked because of their athleticism. Always take BPA but the Sox system desperately lacks athletes

2018 MLB Draft
QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 09:16 PM) Funny section from a Sullivan Fangraphs chat https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/jeff-sulliv...phs-chat-12117/ I would totally do that trade I'd do that in a heartbeat. You can patch together those innings you're losing and again, it's not like the Sox are playing for anything

**2017 Films Thread** (Beware of spoilers)
Saw Lady Bird tonight. I grew up the only boy in a house full of women (my mom and two sisters) and this movie nailed the way mom's and daughter's fight and argue. It was surreal. I dont know if it's great but it's certainly very good. Greta Gerwig has been talking about doing a big movie as a writer-director hopefully she gets that chance.

Welington Castillo to White Sox
I really like this move for the Sox. I really wanted them to sign Jason Castro last year for his pitch framing abilities, I thought that would be an asset to a rebuilding team with young arms. They seemed to have gotten that guy in Castillo, who has really improved in that department and is a good upgrade offensively over both Smith and Navarez. I think the tandem of Castillo and Navarez could be something that's pretty solid.

Welington Castillo to White Sox
QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 12:25 PM) Can't hurt, just wonder if he is flipped at deadline or here to win in '19 and beyond I believe that Collins will be here in 2019. You can have him split starts at C with Castillo and play him at 1B and DH on other days so you can have him in the lineup regularly.

Giancarlo Stanton traded to Yankees
I know its fake but this regards Stanton, I was playing OOTP as the Dodgers and I was able to trade for Stanton for Urias straight up, I also got the Marlins to eat 70% of his remaining salary. I think someone needs to fox the game. *********************************************** I wouldn't be upset if the Sox made a move for Stanton but I'd rather that they eat as much as that money as they can, than give away top prospects. Ideally, the Sox don't target any big time players till next year. Looking at you, Manny Machado

Off Season Buy Low Candidates
A young guy but I am pretty intrigued by the Braves' Sean Newcomb. He has a good arm but really struggles with control. While he could still be a starter, I think he could be something dominant out of the pen.

2018 Hall of Fame ballots out today.
QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 06:11 PM) Wow, quite a difference. Six guys I think come up short. Honestly, I think one day they’ll go “Big Hall”, which is fine by me. In this imaginary scenario, I was split on who to give my last spot, so I gave that last spot to Jeff Kent because he has a higher chance of falling off the ballot than Jim Thome. I would never vote for Manny Ramirez because of multiple failed test and I would never vote for Roger Clemens for how he ruined the life of Brian McNamee and that whole situation. Curt Schilling does belong in the hall but I would never vote for him unless he was in danger of falling off the ballot. I think Andruw Jones should be in, he has a JAWS of 54.6 which is better than Richie Ashburn, Andre Dawson and Kirby Puckett who are all in the hall already. I am lucky enough to remember him during his heyday with Atlanta. My grandfather who's a die-hard Cubs fan would always watch the Braves on TBS with me and he's probably the best center fielder that I've seen in my lifetime. The guy won 10 consecutive Gold Gloves. There have been three players in the history of the sport who have played at least 75% of their games in CF and hit at least 400 home runs: Willie Mays, Ken Griffey Jr. and Andruw Jones. There are 24 CFs in the HOF and Jones' resume compares well against the guys who are there. He should be in Cooperstown.

Jake Peavy?
QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Nov 17, 2017 -> 03:45 PM) And if the bullpen is good we'll probably trade most of it before the deadline. This isn't our year. This year is still for building for the future. I forgot to mention that, good point. We're still in sell mode and we could be looking at another top ten pick at season's end.

Jake Peavy?
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 09:31 PM) Strongly disagree. This is a team that was above .500 in September, and the young guys are only getting better. September is the most watered down month of the season, they were playing against a lot of AAAA guys. So the quality of the competition they were facing wasn't what it was in July or May. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 07:14 PM) If they hold Abreu and Garcia I think there's a good chance they're moderately better. Jiminez looks like he's going to be a monster. Moncada may struggle some but he's here for a full year and that's going to improve offense right there. Hopefully Anderson's troubles are past him and he's a better player. The catchers are decent and could continue getting better. Lopez and Giolito and Fulmer is at least more promising than anything we had in our rotation last year, and we're already used to Rodon being missing. The only part right now that is clearly worse is the bullpen, but you have 100% got to expect we'll bring in some people there, if for no reason other than to try to find the next Kahnle and Swarzak. They trade those 2 and yeah, there's 2 key positions where we're now substantially worse, balancing out the ones where we should expect some improvement. I think they'll score more runs and hopefully get on a base at a higher clip but they will struggle on the mound and the bullpen will still be bad
-
Jake Peavy?
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 03:54 PM) If we end up in the playoff hunt and he's a liability, we can always trade him or DFA him The Sox aren't making the playoffs, they're going to be as bad as they were this past season

Dan Hayes Leaving White Sox Beat
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 12:51 AM) So because he sometimes came off a bit nervous on TV, you didn't like him as a reporter of White Sox baseball. Seems fair. Yeah, you could tell he was nervous on camera
