  1. I don’t even want to think about those scenarios but I don’t think you’re wrong.
  2. If we are looking at the totality of his career and not just his MLB time I think he’s a shoe in with todays criteria. Who knows what the voters will consider though.
  3. Abreu was probably the best thing to happen to the Sox since Carlos Quentin’s near MVP season. I am sad to see him go, and even more so today that he never got to win here. He is a consummate pro and a likely Hall of Famer had he come to the States five or so years earlier. Thank you for everything Jose. MVPito will always be a White Sox great.
  4. I would have DFA’d Yaz sometime in the past year if it were up to me and my owner wanted to pay for a winner. He would not have made it past the last month of 2022 that’s for damn sure. But I haven’t even given replacement options any thought because I know it isn’t happening. Yaz is going play if even remotely healthy, we just have to live with whatever he gives you good and bad.
  5. I wouldn’t call it top 10, at least not as catchers. Grandal is still awful behind the plate, but he is a sunk cost and we know they care more about cost savings than they do improving from outside the org. So we’ll get the same expensive awful half the time and decent the other. We just have to hope that Seby is the actual starter and Yaz the backup contract be damned.
  6. Should do and Will do are different stories…
  7. I see your rationale, but Clevinger hardly lessens the blow IMO. A legit LH power bat might but a 5th starter really doesn’t.
  8. That’s the hope. $4M isn’t much until you’re dealing with a self-imposed limitation on available resources and the GM loves wasting money on the fringes. Hope it doesn’t bite them in the ass.
  9. Oh I do. I really really do. He’ll be my favorite punching bag when the Sox flop once again.
  10. If it really is 1/$12M I like the deal far far less. Kinda steep for a risky bounce back arm. Feels like another stack of cash gleefully lit afire but one Rick Hahn.
  11. Or, better balanced the roster so it made sense to keep him.
  12. Mixed emotions on this one. Sad to see Pito go. It is hard to move on from fan favourites. It hurts to see him go to the trash Astros, but he finally has a chance to win. The Sox not being able to win with him is just another indictment of the JR era. The roster being such a mess that it was better to let him walk is another. Thank you for the memories Pito, this s%*# org didn’t deserve the likes of you.
  13. I probably would have taken SD’s offer too. Probably dodged a bullet though. Lynn has been far more productive with the Sox than Clevenger would have been the last 2 years.
  14. Keuchel supposedly did have to trim the beard a bit upon arrival. It looked the same to me. I think Kopech had to trim the hair too. Might also be why he mostly wears it in a ponytail while in uniform now days. It’s all silly and stupid to me. I’m sure Clevenger will have to trim it up to placate higher ups too.
  15. If you aren’t influencering, are you even living?? /sarcasm
  16. Clevenger as 5th starter replacing Cueto, I’m satisfied. I just hope they don’t have crazy ideas of him replacing Gio or anyone else.
  17. Let’s hope this is an addition to the rotation and not the precursor to a subtraction.
