I'd be curious to know where Houston spends money in INT, analytics, and in drafting & developing vs the White Sox. Staff included. Smarter player payroll allocation is only one part of the story.
The only motivation I could possibly see Cease having to sign an extension is to get guaranteed money now. If he remains healthy he will cash in in FA, and that likely isn't with the Chicago White Sox.
Could Click convince JR to spend money and invest where the org needs it most? Would JR ever even hire someone that would challenge his ass-backwards way of doing things? Me thinks not, for either one.
I’d be happy if the 8 or 9 hitters hit enough homers for Yaz’s walks to be impactful. If he’s hitting any higher I’ll just assume Hahn failed miserably in the off-season yet again.
He gets on base, which is great, but is far too often stranded on the bases or the front half of a double play. Yaz drawing walks does little to help the team score runs.
I expect him to start too much, play worse defense, enrage us with empty OBP and long stretches of sub par production, and a likely lower body injury that takes three times as along as normal to return from.
Yeah, the Nimmo ship sailed as soon as those $100M+ dollar figures were put out there. I have a hard time seeing them committing long term to Benintendi too. I think we see a stop gap unfortunately. Conforto makes the most sense to me but who knows what he and Boras will be after.
