Haven't we learned yet that Hahn is really just GM in title and in reality is a glorified PR person? Important hires sure seem to be taken out of his hands regularly, even if he spells out what he himself wants to the media.
-
Yes. KW had a solid farm when he took over as GM and its been a barren wasteland minus Hahn's fire sale acquisitions in the time since. Refusal to play the draft bonus game in the years before the current slot/cap system, inability to find impact talent in the draft regularly, and the inability to churn out even average major league talent to fill out the roster has been the greatest failing of the org inside the self imposed constraints to how they operate.

If Chris Getz wants to be a manager someday he should be coaching in the minors. But White Sox gonna White Sox. f*** Me.

JR’s operating philosophies certainly handcuff the org, but Hahn’s inability to draft & develop, build depth in the minor leagues, find INT talent, or supplement the core through FA has them where they are. I would like to think a competent GM could solve a few of these issues even w/in the org constraints, or push hard enough against them for more wiggle room, but that is really unknown. Laid out like it has been in this thread really spells out just how much of a catastrophe Rick Hahn has been as a GM.

We are all Phillies fans this series

f*** the Astros. Go Phills.

Yet he wants to get back into the manager’s seat and have to face even stronger scrutiny. I can envision the temper tantrums at the slightest criticism.

A lesson the Sox will never learn.

Could that moment be any more storybook?

It leaks that Espada will be the next Sox manager. Everyone reputable and not either denies it or can’t confirm. Beat reporters put out that interviews are still ongoing with Ozzie amongst the names, which he later denies. And we are left knowing absolutely nothing more than we knew 48 hours. Seems the waters have intentionally been muddied quite thoroughly.

JR really has a soft spot for KC. Who knew?
-
Some anonymous twitter handle “reported” it. Means nothing to me.

Downtown hotels book events months and years in advance and COVID was an enormous monkey wrench for host venues. If an org like a professional baseball team couldn’t get their preferred space they really didn’t try hard enough - assuming they were genuinely intent on making it happen.
-
That crossed my mind too. Espada may have decided he wanted to stay in Houston to eventually take the reigns there. The Sox could have been impressed by him only to be turned down. It’s just as plausible to me as some of the other Reinsdorfian theories being tossed around.
-
To me, he is on par with the foodies, he just says things more firmly and definitively as if he is in the know. A more confident/ arrogant version of Not Steve or Comiskey Dog. I take him and his cohort with the same grain of salt.

If they hire Ozzie after the TLR f*** up I’m done. Out of town baseball fan until the White Sox are in competent hands. If that ever happens…

The above tweet was posted and there was excitement. Then the no-names on twitter claiming to have sources shot it down. Tweets about Ozzie getting an interview came out later. Some are now convinced it won’t be Espada. But nothing of substance actually happened. We still don’t actually know much of anything beyond a few names reportedly being interviewed.
-
Which is why I don't think its official yet. But I'm not going to jump to the conclusion that Espada is no longer a candidate based on tweets by White Sox Talk and or Northside Bob.
-
Who ever NB's source is could also be feeding him info to deflect. That is just as likely to me as this tweet being true.
-
That is a possibility.
