Yaz looked pretty cooked before the IL stint to me. Whenever he does come back he shouldn’t be the every day catcher IMO. If he can still produce at the plate he can cram himself into the DH logjam, otherwise he’s a bench bat/emergency catcher. But that’s a bridge we will cross if and when we get there.

If they can trade for him using their TPE that would be ideal. Bradley or Marko can go to make room.

I hope AK is on the phone with Isaiah Roby’s agent to pick him up quick. Could be a quality backup of option/depth piece.

The lack of pursuit of guys in the full MLE range tells me they want/have to stay under. But its a pretty safe assumption with JR.

I see the logic there, but I neither like or agree with it. As constructed they are another 1st round exit at best. Running it back accomplishes little IMO. Putting all of their eggs in the staying healthy or hoping Williams magically takes a huge leap baskets are both silly and shortsighted to me. It’s a very GarPax sit on their hands off-season so far.

I hate the signing for this very reason. To me Drummond is a vet min player, and using even part of the MLE is bad resource allocation. It’s kind of all moot in the end since it looks like they won’t cross the tax line and are choosing not to use every available resource to improve the roster.

TPEs are for trades only. Can’t sign a FA using a TPE.

There’s a layer of disgust now for me that has replaced the earlier anger. I float between apathy and disgust, they aren’t even worth getting angry over any more.

I will say that if Vuc is heading out the door via trade in the coming weeks I like the Drummond pick up way more. But I can’t really get hope up there.
