  1. I fully support his right to hold out for the highest bidder and maximize his earnings. With that said, as a fan of baseball who is completely bored out of their minds waiting for the Hot Stove to actually heat up, holy s%*# dude, hurry it up!
  2. If the OP doesn’t make a pointless thread about it, did it really happen??
  3. The Jazz or a AAA team surviving in Utah is one thing, but 81 home games in a tiny media market is a stretch IMO. Denver is 3 times the size of SLC and the Rockies are rarely ever relevant. Good luck ever courting a star FA to Salt Lake City.
  4. It would be nice if its finalized this week and we can move onto real Cease rumors.
  5. While true, I'd imagine there are still some Expos faithful around. MLB returning to Montreal would have to opportunity to create new fans as well. Not that I believe Manfred would ever do something good for the fans.
  6. The Mets were an expensive dumpster fire last season. They are hardly a threat to LAD, let alone putting pressure on them to add Cease. Yamamoto going to Queens hardly helps the Sox.
  7. Seems the O's are gonna need such motivation before they relent. NYY looking like the favorite bodes well for us.
  8. Montreal and Oakland have both shown they can support a team in the past, and both are most deserving IMO. Nashville does seem like a foregone conclusion though.
  9. Kinda need to be a threat with the bat to offer protection.
  10. We would be lucky to get similar numbers from Eloy in 2024. Hard to imagine a team gives up much for him in trade this winter.
  11. Baltimore certainly doesn't have the same spending power, but with improved Yankees and Red Sox teams, the O's aren't waltzing to the AL East title again either. They need pitching, and they don't have places to play *all* of those prized prospects. Something has to give.
  12. This wouldn’t surprise me. The org can’t walk and chew gum at the same time without tripping over their own feet. At this point I wouldn’t expect an announcement until late January or early February right before pitchers & catchers report. Give fans less time to be upset before baseball starts up again. Not that they give a s%*# about making fans happy.
  13. Cohen is crazy enough to trump all other offers to seal the deal. So much for putting pressure on Baltimore.
  14. Getz's marching orders vs what is realistic given the roster and the constraints are two different stories.
  15. "Supposedly" Dan Clark's "reporting" is spurious at best.
  16. Hoping Boston's offer wins out to put pressure on the O's. Baltimore needs to be a motivated buyer already. Edit - or NYY. Preferably an AL East team.
  17. Dye, Crede, Pods creating havoc at the top, AJ being AJ, they were way more than “Konerko, Rowand, and Iguchi” offensively.
  18. I think Jermaine Dye would like to have a word.
  19. To be fair, neither does being out slugged at home all season.
  20. It’s wise to at least float that to other teams. The Sox don’t have to accept less if the offers aren’t to their liking. We all want to pull the trigger and follow the new kids in the minors hoping on the future, but the Sox still have that leverage.
  21. Because Baltimore simply refuses to part with their best prospects? IDK. It’s mid December and we are all growing impatient, but there are still a few big FA pitchers unsigned. I’m totally pessimistic about the Sox org, but I still have faith that Cease brings back two studs and a few quality secondaries. If that fails to come to fruition I’ll join you in burning GRF to the ground. But we aren’t quite there yet.
  22. In a perfect world we would have run prevention (pitching & defense) + run production (power & manufacturing runs), but nothing is perfect. The good to great teams have a balance. Pitching & defense keep you in games, but scoring runs wins. That’s at least how I like to think of it. If we were building up a system from scratch with multiple means of finding pitching and hitting, I might focus more on the pitching part. But with only one shot to infuse high end talent into a mostly barren system, I’m choosing bats first.
  23. You know Tony, there is one sure fire way to convince everyone you’re not part of the decision-making process, and that’s to go the f*** away and never have any contact with this team again…
