ILoy watch
Doesn't that fall upon the training, conditioning and medical staffs to make sure he isn't doing something that can eventually lead to more issues?
-
Luis Robert right hip flexor injury
Great...he can take Iloy's place since he'll be out awhile.

Sox looking at building in South Loop
Please.................????? Take emotion out of this. MLB is going to contract the Sox, lose untapped potential revenue with new ownership and go to a much smaller market like Nashville, Portland, Charlotte, Montreal or Salt Lake City... When they could get millions (maybe a billion) in expansion fee money for moving to Nashville, Portland, Charlotte, Montreal or Salt Lake City AND get the revenue generated by a well-run Sox franchise. The Sox have shown, even at times under JR, that when they are competitive, well run and successful they draw very well and make a s%*# load of money through local and national media and advertising deals.

Sox looking at building in South Loop
Could simply be a PR move on his part.

Fire Pedro Grifol
In DVS's story/notes when he used that quote he also made sure to point out how badly Beni is slumping.

According to conventional wisdom and there is some evidence that has been published JR signed Belle to pay the other owners back for settling the labor issue in 94-95 and not on terms he wanted.

Assuming ownership doesn't change in the next few years the operational philosophy won't change...which mean the talent won't really change and neither will the results on the field. I agree with you, a team in a major market shouldn't be one of the worst in baseball since the start of the 2007 season, but current ownership feels they are smarter than everyone else and their way is the correct way to run a baseball operation. Until that changes the fan base is stuck between a rock and a hard place.

5/20 2:07 CDT Sox @ Toronto
I can easily see the team losing 10 straight over the rest of the week. It is now at four...and counting.

You obviously didn't see a follow up post of mine: "I'll cut Getz slack in one area though, he works for and is under orders from JR, which probably explains some but not all of the bizarre moves."

And unfortunately it seems practically every "aggressive" or "proactive" move he's made has been either bringing in over-the-hill; injury prone, has-been's and stiffs or replaced said garbage with more garbage. That's some way to run a "professional" organization isn't it? I'll cut Getz slack in one area though, he works for and is under orders from JR, which probably explains some but not all of the bizarre moves.

May very well be. And who knows what pressure (if any) he's getting from JR who loves to stick his nose in baseball on-field affairs). Honestly, this is my 64th season following the franchise and I don't know if I've ever seen a season with less Major League talent on the roster. Even in 1970 they had several solid Major League players...Wood, Melton, May, Herrmann, Aparicio, John, Horlen. This bunch is just garbage everywhere.

I don't expect it to happen, but......
Fundamentals continue to be an unknown word in this organization despite seemingly every spring comments posturing about how this time it will be different. Baseball-stupid players + coaches who don't know how to properly teach things = what you see every year.

Fire Pedro Grifol
If they lose the next five/six straight I still think around Memorial Day.

Moncada out 3-6 months, Colás recalled
If you are always hurt you won't play and won't produce at an All-Star caliber. And those guys are ALWAYS hurt.

5/19 Sox @ Yankees 12:35PM CT
Compared to five or 10? Yes it is. Keep the faith...sooner or later new ownership has to arrive.

Just constantly replacing flotsam and jetsam with more flotsam and jetsam. Garbage in...garbage out. I can't see any rhyme or reason to what Getz is doing or trying to do.

Yep, no hope is the short term.

Schriffen says he was aiming at “Sportscasters”
Completely agree.

5/19 Sox @ Yankees 12:35PM CT
Can't say I expected anything different this weekend now that the Sox are playing some very good clubs. Next two weeks they may win two or three games...total.

Schriffen says he was aiming at “Sportscasters”
Well for his first season he certainly understands how to get his name out there in various ways with the public: https://awfulannouncing.com/local-networks/john-schriffen-670-the-score-feud-radio-losers.html

Robert mentioned as trade target for Mariners by Passan
I'm a Sox fan but Hank Aaron, Frank Robinson, Willie Mays and Joe DiMaggio say "hello..." Thomas is up there in that group, an elite right handed hitter with an incredible knowledge of the strike zone...but the "best" no one can say for sure.
-
Robert mentioned as trade target for Mariners by Passan
Very true but that's what happens when you have incompetent, dysfunctional and inept ownership and people on the baseball side of the business.

Schriffen says he was aiming at “Sportscasters”
Mariotti let his personal feelings get in the way of his reporting which was very unfortunate. A lot of what he wrote though especially about JR and the Sox was accurate as history has shown but again his personal grievances got in the way. His comments about co-workers like Roger Ebert, Rick Telender were reprehensible and when Hawk accosted him in the press box and took a swing at him it was well deserved. By the way the hatred Mariotii had for JR really reached a tipping point when JR called the owners of the Sun-Times at the time and demanded they fire him. Mariotti heard about it and from then on it was anything goes.

“We just got our ass kicked.”-- Pedro Grifol (How many times has this clown said that the past two seasons?) LOL.
