True especially McGuffey. He is always talking about how the issues with this organization all lead back to the front office not doing their jobs properly.

When was the last time JR fired someone in mid season? Gene Lamont in May of 95?????

All national TV/radio money is shared equally among all clubs along with revenue from merchandise sales. When MLB sold off BamTech a few years ago each club got a 50 million dollar check so there is some revenue sharing. As far as a salary cap, forget it. It will never happen as long as the MLBPA is the strongest union in the world. And I agree with their position. If there are owners who refuse to compete for whatever reason or reasons let them sell to someone who will.

I'm talking about the Cubs getting into the playoffs. They are only 6.5 out with two months to go and may no longer be sellers next week.

All I can tell you is that I just watched it. It dropped 13 hours ago via NBC Sports Chicago. Runs :40 minutes and has been seen by 1.7K. That's all I've got.

As much as I hate losing to the Cubs, the very last thing I want to see is those clowns sneaking into a wild card post season spot, it may be best for the Sox to really bottom-out, just lose...lose...and lose. Lose 100 games if possible. That may be the only thing that forces JR to change and even then I won't guarantee that it would...but you've got to try.

They actually have by association when they talk about the shortcomings of the front office and how accountability is needed. They have mentioned JR by name at times saying how it's up to him to change things and how "miserable" he is.

Just watched it on You Tube. Wow...he and McGuffey bury Grifol. Just absolutely skewer him. He acts like "his s%*# don't stink..." - Garfien. Talks about his arrogance (which is par for the course for this franchise/front office isn't it?????) Worth watching/listening to. I've always considered Garfien a house-man but I've got to give him some credit...he is really pissed off and laying into this franchise now. Guess he isn't worried about his job anymore for some reason.

Any realistic shot Giolito had of returning by whatever means ended when the Sox played hardball with him over 50,000 dollars this past off season. Both he and his agent let their feelings be known after it happened. He gone!

I'm guessing Balta is comparing the Sox injury situation to other teams and from that perspective he's probably right. But.......... Given the Sox have ZERO depth, as you said ANY injury kills them and the fact that the "core" group, the players they were building around, can't seem to go a month without something happening makes your point valid. This has been the situation for years going back to the start of the rebuild in 2016 when they had trouble keeping people healthy at all levels.

I think a better question is how does the fan base move forward? The answer to me and I'm not being facetious is to take care of yourself...watch what you eat/drink, see your doctor, exercise and hope to be around when new ownership takes over as it must at some point in time. Seriously because nothing is really going to significantly change until ownership does. This organization is so incompetent, dysfunctional and inept that whatever they do will probably be half-assed and blow up in their faces. When you have as many serious issues as this franchise has in so many different areas...from talent, depth, unwillingness to take risks, poor development at all levels, "baseball-stupid" players and self-imposed financial limitations in the name of "fiscal responsibility" I don't see any way out with the current individuals running things.

They've been doing that for a few weeks now. Ozzie said he doesn't even like to take about Grifol because "it aggravates him..." That he "doesn't know" what's going on with guys.

It's now official 14 times this year the Sox took a lead into the 7th inning or later...and lost the game. Six times they lost the lead in the 9th inning, Graveman had it happen to him three times now (June 11, July 9 and today). The highest paid bullpen in baseball. ?

By the way just to clarify I reached out to Rick about his 130 million payroll figure and he clarified that he was just counting the guys currently on the 26 man roster. If you add up all the guys under contract and injured it's closer to 180 million.

If they go on to lose it will be the 14th time this year they had a lead in the 7th inning or later and lost the game. It would be the 6th time they lost the lead in the 9th inning. Graveman has been responsible for 3 1/2 of those blown 14 times again assuming the Sox lose. It would be the third time he would have coughed up the lead in the 9th inning. The highest paid bullpen in baseball!

The other factor is this, a comment from a source told to me this past off season for my "State of the Sox" story: “JR is 86 and he’s in great shape, he looks good, still drives himself around but I just think at this point he simply doesn’t want to be bothered with having to bring in a new front office, maybe he thinks in a few years it won’t matter anyway.”

His ego won't allow him to admit he has screwed things up.

Garfein has reported that JR is "miserable" and won't go through another "rebuild." That means a "retooling" or whatever phrase you wish to use. The problem, of course, is that the payroll is going to be dramatically reduced and with the team refusing to take risks and go after "superstar" free agents difference-making help isn't forthcoming even through JR is "miserable." Nothing changes until new ownership steps in. Anything else, even if Hahn, is canned or booted upstairs is simply cosmetic.
