2025-26 NFL Season Thread
Really good story assessing where the Bears are quoting Johnson. Also talks about trying to get help at the deadline: https://chicago.suntimes.com/bears/2025/10/13/in-year-4-of-rebuild-bears-still-have-long-way-to-go-on-roster-as-they-try-to-tailor-it-to-coach-ben-johnson

Another nail biter. I thought they could win six games but now with the injuries to Cincinnati and Baltimore, they can win eight, which would be a tremendous improvement.

Interesting revenue figures...
And remember the nice stadium agreement the Sox have with the state of Illinois, JR owning the parking lots and their investment in the minor leagues and development has been "slim" for a number of years. Also during the initial rebuild during those three years the Sox had among the lowest payrolls in baseball and one year did have the lowest.

Interesting revenue figures...
Even I think 250 million is a stretch (but perhaps not with Ishbia running things) but I think 190-200 is doable if ownership actually wanted to.
-
White Sox outright Fletcher, Julks, Peguero, White to AAA, Will Robertson claimed by PIT
And still a lot of flotsam and jetsam remaining.
-
Interesting revenue figures...
Not commenting on the political notation in the original post one way or the other but I was intrigued by the figures. If this is true and I have no idea if it is, that puts a little different spin on the White Sox situation doesn't it? Post was originally sent by a Cub fan very upset with Ricketts ownership.

Getz won the Vaughn/ Civale trade

Getz won the Vaughn/ Civale trade
Short answer: No. He was part of the problem.

Its a beautiful day in the neighborhood
Exactly. F the Cubs and all that they stand for. It's wild some people think Sox fans should root for the Cubs and visa versa. You don't see Yankee fans rooting for the Mets do you? Or Dodger fans rooting for the Angels? It doesn't work that way folks. You pick your side, pitch your tent and that's it.

2025 Division Series
Vaughn sucked with the White Sox but I'm very happy he got to stick it up the Cubs rear end. Now I can enjoy the postseason...no Red Sox, no Yankees, no Cubs.

If Ishbia gave us one early present, who would excite you to add to this not ready team
I'd be surprised if he got that much given his injury history the past two seasons, but we'll see.

Sox arbitration story...
But when they cost a team wins they are anything but dumb aren't they? 🤔 If you recall Wilson was asked to close a few times and the results weren't the best plus even as a seventh or eight inning set-up guy he had issues. Sorry in my mind he just isn't very good. Maybe because the Sox are going to lose 100 games again next year you keep him around but blowing SO many games after the 7th inning and losing when you had the lead, the past two years, can't be good mentally for the young players.

Sox arbitration story...
An "above average" pitcher who was charged with seven blown saves as well as two losses. I admire your definition of "above average." The key point to Sox 2023's story in my opinion was the fact that the Sox DFA'd him, he was making very little in salary yet no other MLB team wanted him. That should say something in my opinion.

Given how Tucker cratered in the second half and was hurt I could see him resigning with the Cubs on a one year prove it deal for like 20-25 million.

Bellinger declared for free agency today by the way.

Non tender Hill, please non tender Wilson.

Also has some interesting comments from Kevin Pillar: https://soxmachine.com/2025/10/non-tender-deadline-looks-like-a-quiet-one-for-white-sox

“The 78” is alive and well for the Sox, Bears are 'advancing' Hammond development
Absolutely correct. White Sox fans have shown over the years they will not support garbage and expect ownership to make a solid good faith effort to at least be competitive. If ownership doesn't, the fan base basically says 'the hell with them...' As they should in my opinion.

TV viewership numbers...
Geography no longer matters does it? I remember reading in the mid-80's a story in TV Guide talking about a Japanese company that said they were going to start producing satellite dishes the size of large pizzas and thinking 'no way' that's because the only satellite dishes we had at the TV station were huge, one was literally the size of a small house. Yea...times have certainly changed.

He's also parroting the owners line about a salary cap which is why the 2027 season is at risk.

Colson Montgomery has arrived
Most guys take a few weeks to a month off then get back slowly into getting ready for spring training. A lot of players have personal trainers that they work with over the off season.

Bryse Wilson DFA, Bryan Hudson to IL, Gilbert and Cannon recalled per Fegan
More wasted JR money on stiffs, retreads and has been's. 😆

Get better owners and that division among teams would change. Ironic the Rockies owner said that, he's crushing things attendance-wise, making a lot of money yet continues to put out a crap product.

No worries, we are good!
