That dead last position is very well deserved.

MLB.com had 11 players to watch for Rookie of the Year consideration. Montgomery wasn't on the list but this guy was: Chase Meidroth, INF, White Sox 230 PA, 3 HR, 3 SB, .702 OPS, 1.1 WAR Meidroth led the Minors with 105 walks and produced a .435 on-base percentage last season at Triple-A Worcester while in the Red Sox system. In December, he was part of a Sox swap, going from Boston to Chicago in the Garrett Crochet blockbuster. Meidroth doesn't have many standout tools, but given his highly advanced bat-to-ball skills, he could be on the White Sox active roster immediately as a reserve infielder. Steamer states that he will play 57 big league games this year and have a .356 on-base percentage thanks to a robust 13.7% walk rate.

Sox Sign Joey Gallo to minor league deal, NRI
Lip Man 1 replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The Bulls are in even worse shape than the Sox since JR has told his family to keep then and sell the Sox when he is gone. New ownership could change the fortune of the Sox franchise at least. Meanwhile another Reinsdorf will be running the Bulls. -
Running to first base of course! 😆

As a long time Sox fan I can't believe you are serious with these ideas. Anderson is DONE, finished. Plus the fan base has turned against him 9with good reason in my opinion), Jose is DONE he was a disaster in his time with Houston and who knows how old he actually is. Not saying the stiffs and retreads the Sox have now are any better but there may be a possibility of getting something for them down the line however slight. Anderson and Jose won't get you a bag of balls. -
As well as it should be, the politicians have already made their feelings very clear in Springfield, JR and the McCaskey family are SOL and they know it.

In one of his last interviews he spoke with Paul Sullivan of the tribune and that is what he said, he wanted to go in wearing a White Sox cap. At the 40th anniversary celebration for him and the 1972 team he also said at the dinner where he spoke that he wished he could have played his entire career in Chicago. He said the fan base understood the game and appreciated the little things like moving runners over into scoring position.

It will not happen under JR, it goes against his core philosophy. He does not feel that any baseball player is worth that kind of money which is why he has done everything he could over the decades to get a salary cap installed in MLB.

Rubenstein of O's pushes for salary cap

It never will nor should it in my opinion. Regarding deferred money, that is a legit topic for the owners to work out amongst themselves. -

When did Dane Dunning have it when he was with the Sox?

Very well done piece by Fegan on State of the Sox

It's also possible they do know (they aren't that stupid) but basically have said screw you to the fan base, 'we don't care what you think...' -

JR just crapped in his pants! 😆 Glad he didn't go to the Cubs.
-
If he's like some of the other recent Sox relief pitchers who got away from the shitshow (Hill, Kopech, Diekman) he'll do just fine.

"The “dirty dozen” media members on hand Wednesday included a couple of Chicago Tribune reporters, only two from the five Chicago news stations and none from their flagship radio station. https://www.chicagotribune.com/2025/02/12/chicago-white-sox-spring-training-chris-getz/

Rubenstein of O's pushes for salary cap
Lip Man 1 replied to caulfield12's topic in The Diamond Club
The one single unshakable tenant for the most powerful union in the world has been no agreement with anything that depresses or puts limits on salary for the rank and file aka a salary cap. It was true in the 1970's and is still true in the 2020's. If I had to bet I'd say you aren't going to have a lot of baseball, maybe none in 2027 because as union head Tony Clark recently said the union will never agree to a salary cap. And they shouldn't not with the money MLB is making something like 12 BILLION dollars a season. -

As I've said before it won't bother me in the slightest because in 2027, like 2026 and 2025 the White Sox will suck. -
Either way would be another inditement of this organization.
-
All you can do is laugh. The good news is that at least it won't matter this season since they are going to be a disaster anyway.

From a CBS Sportsline story today on things to watch for in the spring: 10. Early CBA bellyaching It is beginning much earlier than usual this time around. The current collective bargaining agreement expires in December 2026, and typically each side begins making their agenda known a year before the CBA expires. Already though, several owners, including Hal Steinbrenner (Yankees) and David Rubenstein (Orioles) are griping about spending, and commissioner Rob Manfred has dropped hints about pursuing a salary cap. "This is an issue that we need to be vigilant on," he told the Associated Press earlier this month. You need not worry about a work stoppage this season or next. Clearly though, the next round of CBA talks will be a heavyweight fight, with another lockout during the 2026-27 offseason looking increasingly likely. Tensions are already beginning to flare.
