  1. Rockies pitcher has an ERA of almost seven. What's the over/under on the Sox scoring three runs or less tonight? 😉
  2. He got away from an incompetent, dysfunctional and inept organization. Mentally that has got to be a huge boost to a pro athlete.
  3. We'll see what happens after the deadline but the Dodgers are going to be getting their injured guys back and figure to steamroll the N.L. Hell they are something like 18 games over .500 and that's with a bunch of guys hurt.
  4. The division is the Cubs to lose. They have by far the most talent.
  5. Unless the Cubs suffer a incredible rash of injuries to key players like the Sox the last few years, that division is easily won by them unfortunately. And for Hoyer's future employment they better go deep into the playoffs having gambled on Tucker, who they aren't going to re-sign. "But obviously you realize, at some point you must have your limits." - Jed Hoyer to the Sun-Times
  6. Bad bullpens will do that to you. 10th game this year the Sox took a lead into the 7th inning or later...and lost. Second time Taylor has been responsible. Second time for Wilson too.
  7. Excuse me, reading is an art form. I was commenting on Bell's TOTAL RBI's for both the 92 and 93 seasons when I made the chopped liver comment. "Generational talent?" Sosa had that potential but at the time he was turning into the head case he'd later clearly show with the Cubs and again bottom line he wasn't getting along with Hriniak who correctly had more say in the organization than a player who was basically a rookie in 1990-91. Sosa was a fraud and a liar, end of story.
  8. Sosa wasn't getting along with Walt Hriniak, the Sox hitting coach and as history has shown his "transformation" is an embarrassment the Sox didn't need. It's unfortunate, he had talent, in 1990 he was the only player in baseball to record double figures in doubles, triples, home runs, stolen bases and outfield assists. He had the makings of a five-tool player but all he wanted to do was try to hit home runs. Oh and regarding Bell he drove in 112 RBI's in 92 and 64 in 102 games in 93...not exactly chopped liver.
  9. I want to make sure I understood you correctly...the players always cave? Have you followed the labor history between the owners and the MLBPA since the first impasse in 1972? It is the owners who have always backed down with the possible exception of the last impasse. Perhaps this is a typo on your part, just want to be sure. All I'll say is it was a handful of owners in the past that have always been able to railroad insane demands to the majority of other owners. Maybe they have finally learned what you say (but we'll have to wait and see)
  10. We'll see if he gets more than two or three at bats this time around. https://www.southsidesox.com/2025/6/30/24459290/brooks-baldwin-triple-a-tenure-embodies-chicago-white-sox-superficial-commitment-to-its-future
  11. To dream the impossible dream. Given what has already been stated publicly I admire your optimism, it's completely misguided and somewhat delusional but it is what it is.
  12. If the owners are going to insist on forcing the salary cap issue you can bet your ass they will lockout the players right after the 26 season ends. To think otherwise right now given the published comments is foolhardy. I hope the owners don't go down that road but never underestimate their collective stupidity. And just FYI in the The Athletic yesterday they had a story where Manfred feels the union is "out of touch" with the rank and file and has been working to get the owners message directly to them. I'm sure that isn't sitting well on that side of the table. But regarding JR, if there is the SLIGHTEST chance of a labor impasse that's all the excuse he needs not to do anything next off season in fact because of the possibility he may order another team payroll cut
  13. Feel free to search the internet for stories that have already been published talking about the real possibility of owners pushing yet again for a salary cap. At least two, Orioles and Yankees have come out and talked about the need for it. Stories have already come out about a lockout happening soon after the conclusion of the 2026 season. Since when do you think owners give a damn about the PR impact of another forced labor situation? Or for that matter care about the sport in general? They care about one thing...$$$. They'll go down the salary cap rabbit hole again. Also the MLBPA has publicly come out and in the strongest terms and said they would never agree to a salary cap after the owners comments came out. What does that smell like to you sir?
  14. The 27 season more than likely is going to be seriously impacted by a labor situation instituted by the owners. JR won't be doing anything.
  15. Ishbia released a statement through his company the day the agreement was announced by JR.
  16. I call complete total BS. Plus the NFL offers individual teams the opportunity to get money for new stadium construction. The McCaskey family is no different from any other entitled sports owner, they expect the city/state for pay for it. Since the last Golden Age for the franchise (1984-1991) they have been absolutely one of the worst franchises in the NFL. You want money from the state and city? Put a damn good product of the field for a change, win something and then we'll talk. They have a lot of gall, just like JR.
  17. From the Sun-Times today, they also talk about Schultz and Braden Montgomery: https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2025/06/30/white-sox-prospects-noah-schultz-braden-montgomery-futures-game-colson-montgomery How close is Colson? Could shortstop Colson Montgomery, a step away from the majors at Triple-A, be the next prospect to make his way to the South Side? It’s been a roller-coaster season for the 2021 first-rounder, who started miserably, prompting the Sox to send him to Arizona to work with hitting director Ryan Fuller. He returned with a successful stretch, then slumped again before his current hot streak: 11 hits, including four homers, in his last 22 at-bats. That’s a 1.749 OPS over his last five games. Looking at his numbers can give you whiplash, but might this latest rebound be enough to make the Sox consider a promotion to the big leagues? “One of the things you start to look to is the consistency and being able to pull himself out of a funk, which he really didn’t show us last year. He’s done that a couple times this year now, which is super encouraging,” Janish said. “You do want to strike while the iron’s hot with a guy like that. … Giving them the opportunity to go up when they’re playing well is definitely preferred. “He’s in a really good place and doing what he needs to do and putting himself in a conversation, for sure.” Who knows if that means another noteworthy major league debut is imminent? But it’s a sign that a huge rebuilding milestone could be getting closer.
  18. They have nothing to announce because there is no news. Unless Ishbia is willing to throw in a ton of money, since JR obviously won't, they'll continue to play at the Rate. The city and state isn't going to pay for a new stadium for them regardless of the location.
  19. The last thing the White Sox need is to have an infielder try to play out of position. Hasn't the last few years of this lunacy taught us anything? Let the people you mentioned actually learn and become very good at the position they have been playing most of their lives. In two years time after another 100 loss season in 26 and the labor impasse derailing at least some of the 27 season, the Sox need to go out and actually gets some outfielders to go along with hopefully, Braden Montgomery.
  20. Third game this year the Sox trailed in the 7th inning or later and won.
  21. Absolutely, it would be insanity for JR to do so which was my point. He's not doing it and frankly even if Robert put together a mediocre season (which for him would be an improvement) there's no way he'd allow it, not with the labor situation and the possibility (probability?) that he's going to order Getz to cut payroll again next year.
  22. Does it even matter? They'll lose 100 games again next year anyway and JR with the labor impasse coming up isn't going to be spending money this off season. There is absolutely no way JR will approve picking up his 20 million dollar offer for next year. None, nada, nyet.
  23. He, Eloy and Moncada can now be known as the "Bust Brothers..." He'll play out the string and the Sox won't pick up his option this off season. As Hawk would say, "He GONE!"
  24. Can't see that happening under any circumstances if you are trying to hint at a connection. Just having a winning season with 82 wins would be a miracle right now.
