They showed some life for the first time in a week and picked a hell of a time to do it. 14th time this year they trailed in the 7th inning or later and won. First time since July 30th. Third time this year they came from behind to win the game in the 9th inning. Now we'll see if they can build on the momentum. Also Castillo is absolutely brutal. He's done. The Sox can not in any way shape or form keep putting him out there, just atrocious.

We'll to be factual the last time the Sox trailed in the 7th inning or later and came back to win was back on July 30 vs. the Yankees. Haven't had one since. Maybe they are saving them for the final two weeks?

Good question. Maybe he was about to be made a scapegoat?

Cleveland lost, can the Sox FINALLY, one time, take advantage and put some positive momentum into what has been a death march? I'd feel a lot better if they had an actual competent starting pitcher going tonight instead of yet another bullpen game but as Kenny once said, "It is what it is..."

You may be right but if that's the case he better hope that sentiment doesn't go public because the fan base will be after him with pitchforks for wasting a possible playoff opportunity. (To say nothing for how the players would react...) I use the term that the Sox make the playoffs about as often as Republicans win the Mayorship of Chicago. When you get half a chance to do so, you have to take it.

I can almost guarantee the Sox aren't going 11-4. Far to many issues right now.

Actually in my opinion they just needed two starting pitchers and a hitter. It didn't even have to be a catcher but please continue with your notion of having to basically replace everyone. 😆 Getz f@#$%^ up big time...you know it, I know it and I'm guessing in his heart of hearts he knows it. Although as I've stated to be fair, we don't know what restrictions JR may have placed on him.

That is certainly possible since it appears a lot of these guys / team were playing over their heads this year. But with the uncertain labor situation I don't think JR will allow a "significant" amount of talent to be acquired.

Especially if as stated many of these guys are in their first year and are "gassed." I think that's the case, which meant getting productive players to help these kids was EVEN MORE imperative at the deadline.

Let's just say the pitching matchup tonight on paper doesn't bode very well for a team hitting around .200 for the month of September.

Cleveland has made the post season in seven of the last 10 years. I can only speak for myself but I'd LOVE for the Sox to have that record even if they didn't do s$%^ in the playoffs. At least if you get to the post season you have a shot. It sure as hell beats what the Sox have been doing.

That's how I feel... today for example it's yet another 'bullpen game' because the starting pitching is crap and Castillo is going to be used as part of it. If ever they needed to beat the odds and get a win, today would be the day.

JR isn't going to fire him and admit for all to see his judgement in hiring him was completely wrong. Ishbia will but not JR.

Agree with a lot of this but again, to be fair, JR is still running the show and history shows that JR's main concern is "fiscal responsibility" (his own words). That doesn't give Getz a pass for his stupidity but things may not be totally in his control.

Valid point but do you throw those kids into the middle of a divisional race? Is that fair to them?? Personally given the situation the Sox are in, flushing a season right down the toilet, I would, but the indications are Getz won't. Maybe that changes in the next few days if they continue to suck. One thing is for certain, I believe, either they pick themselves off the floor in Cleveland and regain some momentum then be able to use the rest of the schedule to their advantage...or they roll over and die and we won't have to worry about things.

Pham has had one at bat and then promptly got hurt. He is a waste of roster space and based on his clubhouse explosion at the MLBPA rep just a few days ago is a head case. With respect he's the LAST thing the Sox need. getting someone who could actually play and make a difference is what they needed but Getz had other ideas at the trade deadline or was under orders from JR.

I get your comment, I was basing my comment on the fact that like Dunn, he strikes out a ton but has the capacity to hit a lot of home runs.

The Sox aren't going to get rid of a #1 draft pick without giving him a LOT of rope. But like I've said before, he's Adam Dunn who happens to be able to play the infield pretty well.

Pham was on the Red Sox when he was coaching there.

And I'm guessing at least some of them were wondering what the front office was doing at the trade deadline compared to some other clubs.
