  1. If we go into 2019 with no notable free agents and having sold off vets for (presumably) weak returns, I'd be perfectly fine with somebody other than Hahn being the one to answer questions at Soxfest, and this is coming from one of the bigger Hahn supporters here
  2. Because he would be our best offensive player and can be had for pretty cheap (in terms of trade value)
  3. This is exactly what I was going to post. While luck is a major factor in BABIP, oftentimes, better hitters just have better BABIPs (consistently, over multi-year periods). I think a more effective method would be to look at quality of contact, hard hit percentage, line drive percentage, relative to soft hit percentage, pop up percentage, etc. coming up with a function and finding a way to factor that in. Doing that might help normalize some of the problems you outlined such as overrating low BABIP guys like Gallo
  4. Agreed, I've never seen Lauri so adamant about hoisting up shots. And that's a good thing, because he's good enough to justify that mindset.
  5. I'd be pissed if I were a Phillies fan. The owner pretty much flat out lied to them, unless they did outbid the Nats and Corbin declined anyway
  6. The same Bob who reported that Corbin signed with the Yankees a month ago
  7. I agree with this. The White Sox were a better second half team than the Phillies by record, for example, so the idea that they're some lock for the playoffs and we're stagnant in last place is just flat-out wrong. And while they have plenty of money to spend, we have more of it. Not to mention Chicago > Philadelphia. Obviously, it's unknown whether we're actually going to spend the money, but it sure is there
  8. The White Sox signing Machado, McCutchen, and Corbin yet still trotting out Adam Engel as the every day center fielder would be a travesty
  9. The same reason they're trying to trade Swarzak right after acquiring him
  10. I don't see why that's so bad. Would people rather have him be fired via text or phone call?
  11. The report from Jay Glazer this morning said he was "good enough to play"
  12. By starting Daniel over a (reportedly) healthy Trubisky, the Bears pretty much were signaling that they were fine losing that game. I warned earlier in the week that it was a bad move but most were underrating the Giants. Now the Bears have very little room for error.
  13. Based on what I've read, I think Collins has an even better eye
  14. Agree with all of these but I'd add that I would hope/expect a healthy, 24 year old Dunning to be in Charlotte by June. I also think Luis Gonzalez is a guy we should push to AAA if his numbers are similar to what they were in Kanny/W-S
  15. LaVine is already benefiting from the added spacing Markkanen provides. Lauri looked rusty as expected but great to see him out there for significant minutes
  16. That article is as valid as your opinion or mine, in fact probably even less valid. When they made the predictions, they didn't even remember that the White Sox existed, and I'm being 100% serious. They had a section for their teams who are predicted to sign none of these guys, and the White Sox weren't even listed in that section. They were the only team that was not mentioned a single time in the article. It took a few hours and some Twitter comments for them to go back and revise and add some comments about the Sox.
  17. Why are so many in such a rush to trade half of our prospects away?
  18. He's awful though. Might as well have kept Kevan Smith if we're gonna sign someone like him
  19. I'm not a fan of Duber. I admittedly do not listen to the podcasts but just based on articles, Duber seems even more pessimistic than Fegan, who is already sometimes tough for me to tolerate
  20. I'm thinking of the tweet about being nervous because there was an "Arab" on his flight. I was sure it was Kelce but now I can't find it anywhere online.
