  1. I don't think this was posted here actually: Lots of good insight in there for why they'll reject, such as the proposal including Manfred having full authority to halt the season, the fact that pitchers are already ramping up and would likely see an increase in injuries (like last year), the lack of off days in the proposal and their impact on health, and more
  2. Yeah, I noticed that too and was surprised it isn't being discussed more. That alone is enough for the union to reject, even with the other ~6 reasons in the Nightengale article
  3. If you want Marquez, you have to give up at least one of Vaughn/Kopech/Crochet, which the Sox aren't doing So if you want Marquez, you have to take on a bad contract (Blackmon), which the Sox aren't doing So if you're trading with the Rockies, it's probably Jon Gray (yuck)
  4. Eaton's defense is very overrated because of how good he was in 2016. He hasn't been close to that guy ever since leaving the Sox
  5. Agreed but not sure what else you can expect when you root for a team that has had a massive hole in RF for almost a decade (with the exception of 2016 alone). Especially when no steps are ever taken to actually address that hole, only stopgaps who underperform
  6. I can see Vaughn having a few Votto-esque seasons in his prime (5-7 wins), essentially all from offensive value. I struggle to see even a maxed-out Madrigal coming anywhere close to that
  7. Also Vaughn is not just high floor, he's high ceiling too, so I don't think the Madrigal analogy really works
  8. If it's really just a two team race, and some of you guys think it'll be resolved today, then I'm not sure how this tweet got glossed over. It makes it seem like he's far more likely to sign with the Sox
  9. All that money to solidify your place as the 4th best team in your division
  10. The Twins chatter that I read all indicates that Polanco is likely to have a reduced role or be traded
  11. At least they got rid of the "confused" reaction. I'll always remember the great "Yoan Moncada is a bust" wars of 2018 where any post that was either very pro or anti Moncada got at least 7 of those reactions within 5 minutes
  12. I feel like this was asked in a way to make one option appear far better, but honestly, Wainwright. I like the certainty he provides over Gray, who I could easily see being either complete garbage or injured
  13. I know this is weird for White Sox fans, since our beat reporters don't break news and our rumors come from sandwiches, but he's like a local version of Passan/Schefter/Woj. I've been reading his reports/tweets for years and he's practically never wrong
  14. That's pretty massive. That reporter is better than anyone on the Sox beat, he gets tons of info and it's always spot on.
  15. This always reminds me of Welington Castillo's apology. It's one of the only ones I've ever read and thought was actually not terrible.
  16. It's addressed in this thread, but Rosenthal's lack of spine when it comes to these issues is a consistent disappointment. I guess I should've known, after he tried to "both sides" domestic violence and praised the Cubs for doing the bare minimum in response
  17. I think part of that speaks to their trade philosophy though. They easily could've traded the big three for packages that would stack the farm with depth, but they went for upside and hit on most of those players
  18. It would never happen, but I did find it funny that both Flaherty and Giolito liked my friend's tweet the other day that joked about Flaherty teaming with Giolito and signing with the Sox in 2024
  19. I see. One tool is a stretch to me but I know that's what you were replying to. IMO, he has decent trade value in that he moves the needle and can be the 2nd best piece for a Burnes/Gonzales, but he can't headline
  20. Plenty of players have lots of value but are flawed, why is Madrigal exempt from this?
