The two hours thing hasn't seemed to be true this season. I've been 3 hours before multiple times and there were already people tailgating.

Offseason trade idea: Sox-Reds
If we're so sure that Arenado won't re-sign with Colorado, wouldn't they want to keep Welker to take over at 3B?

I agree with literally everything you said after this, but to this comment alone, I didn't mean that as a bad thing. Even before this year, I still never thought he'd hit .280 in a season. But that obviously doesn't mean he'll be bad, I still think he'll be one of the best hitters in our lineup along with Eloy, Robert, Adolfo, and hopefully a big FA. His game just isn't conducive to being a high batting average guy, but his on base and power potential give him the ability to be fantastic regardless.

The good news is his range stats are top 3 in baseball for second basemen so he has all the tools to improve defensively. And he has, to an extent, recently. If (big if) we turn 3 years of Sale into 6 years of a solid starting 2B (even if not a superstar), 6 years of a MLB starting pitcher in Kopech (ace potential but, barring injury, probably no worse than a #3 with development), and whatever Basabe becomes, that's still a really good deal IMO.

2018 White Sox catch-all thread
Nicknames are bad/repeated, jerseys are bad, hats are bad... other teams have actually cool looking designs and we're stuck with an ugly combo of gray and red.

Players' weekend jerseys are out. Ours look pretty ugly, in my opinion. Link

Narvaez - what’s the ceiling here?
The Cubs have a long term catcher. The Yankees have a DH in Sanchez. So it's really just one team.

Narvaez - what’s the ceiling here?
They'd trade Castillo for whatever they can get, probably. Only has 2019 on his deal anyway, plus a team option. He's a serviceable catcher, I'm sure someone will want him

Narvaez - what’s the ceiling here?
Wouldn't be shocked if we signed Yasmani Grandal this offseason after missing on Manny/Harper

8/8 GT - NYY @ Sox - Severino vs Giolito
Dozier has played 0 career innings at third and I think he'd be a train wreck over there

Narvaez - what’s the ceiling here?
Defensively, N/A. Maybe a 1B/DH who can fill in at catcher a few times a month at most, barring major improvements. Offensively, this is probably mostly legit. I was a big fan of his last year, as a .373 OBP from the catcher position is actually elite. But if he moves off catcher, the value goes down. However, since his power has gone up, I do think he could actually be a viable 1B/DH platoon guy down the road. Maybe he's a trade chip.

8/8 GT - NYY @ Sox - Severino vs Giolito
But yesterday, everyone on Twitter loved him and was saying that he deserves more time to figure out how to hit!

I’m not trying to be sarcastic or pretentious; genuinely, if that’s how you feel, why are you a fan? Why not root for a team that better aligns with your preferences?

If we had andujar, all you and anyone would do is complain about how abysmal he is defensively

8/8 GT - NYY @ Sox - Severino vs Giolito
Nobody is blaming umpires for his struggles but you. All we’re saying is that they’re certainly not doing him any favors by calling pitches 5 inches off the plate strikes once per game. You can drop that straw man whenever you’d like

It was a nasty pitch, I wouldn’t hold it against him. Tried to pull the trigger but couldn’t

Straw man arguments and “the sky is falling” attitudes are a Soxtalk staple lately

8/8 GT - NYY @ Sox - Severino vs Giolito
If we’re talking about pitches that are actually close (40-60% called strikes) then sure. But that 1-1 pitch was a ball 89% of the time. again, before anyone else takes this out of context, I am not blaming his slump on umpires
