QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 12, 2018 -> 07:34 PM)
By all means call out his strikeout rate, but you sound like an idiot when you talk like Moncada isn’t one of the most physically gifted players in baseball and wasn’t a consensus #1 overall prospect like a year or so ago. If he fails it won’t be because the organization failed to identify talent or developed a “prospect crush”, it will be because they still haven’t figured out to develop players with swing & miss issues.
You're talking to a guy who thought it was ridiculous to call his .200 average a misnomer. There's no point in trying
QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 12, 2018 -> 07:27 PM)
Nice at bat, Yoan! Good try buddy. As long as you’re trying your best and having fun, I’m having fun
Much better
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 12, 2018 -> 07:26 PM)
So far, looks like he did first two games. Velocity down and can't command fastball at all. Seems like another mechanical issue
Not a reference to his actual performance, but his ST mechanics and control were a lot better. He needs to establish more consistency there
QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 12, 2018 -> 07:20 PM)
Just wait until it warms up!!!!!!11
Your strawman routine is getting a little old. I think it's time for some new material
QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Apr 12, 2018 -> 07:19 PM)
Love that Benetti calls a .200 BA a “misnomer” when talking about a guy who strikes out twice in every five plate appearances. Jason is a damn moron.
I know it's tempting, but let's not feed the troll guys
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 12, 2018 -> 11:40 AM)
Pretty necessary with the current rotation being Shields, MiGo and kids.
When we have 1 game in 4 days, though? I just don't get the timing
QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 11, 2018 -> 09:52 PM)
Moncada finishes second on the team in homers (29) & leads the team in K’s (166)
I know you and I have had our Moncada debates over the past couple weeks, but I'm surprised you went with 166. I still am not worried about him but expect him to strike out at least 190 times.
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 11, 2018 -> 06:23 PM)
get used to them.
Yup. I find it amusing that people (not on this board, but on Twitter) are acting like this is some anomaly of a spring that won't happen again. This is the rest of our lives.
QUOTE (Richie @ Apr 11, 2018 -> 05:39 PM)
Outside of some early bumps in each start. Shields has pitched like a Major Leaguer - I'll give him that.
Be nice if he could position himself for some decent value around the deadline. I'll bet somebody will still bite on the big name and "big game experience" label if he manages a decent first half.
If he pitches like he did in August and September, and I guess today, I think we'll see him moved for a Ti'Quan Forbes kind of player. Or just for cash.
QUOTE (GermanSoxFan @ Apr 11, 2018 -> 05:30 PM)
My guess would be that Kevan Smith gets called up due to Castillo's injury
We wouldn't need to send Infante down for that. We'd just place Castillo on the DL and activate Smith from the DL.
QUOTE (GermanSoxFan @ Apr 11, 2018 -> 10:09 AM)
So it's one of the Rays' bullpen games?
Looks like it. In his other start, they limited him to 54 pitches. If we get deep into counts and stay patient, he could be gone in the 3rd.
Davidson looks better, due to his approach, but I still think he'll be out of the regular lineup by August.
I think Delmonico looks pretty good at the plate, but horrible in the field, and he should be the primary DH next year.
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 10, 2018 -> 02:34 PM)
Davidson had 19 walks in all of 2017. He has 7 in 2018.
For a team like this, I really think he's the ideal 6/7 hitter.
