  1. I'm not sure how these people catch this (when it isn't even true) and somehow miss McCann's 3 catchers' interferences in just 20 games caught (Grandal has 0), or McCann having twice as many errors as Grandal despite playing 63 fewer innings. I hate that this fanbase is making me want James McCann, a pretty solid player, to leave the team in FA so that these debates can end
  2. I'd be fine with this. If (big if) we sweep Detroit, we'd then be 2.5 games up on Cleveland and 3 games up on the Twins going into that 4 game series against them. At that point, you just try to split that series and keep that nice lead
  3. I know someone who would...
  4. Yeah I know how the odds work, I was just referring to my own estimation that 27 wins or better will be good enough for the 8th seed.
  5. I rarely say this, but I love the way Ricky has used McCann this season. He really has gotten the most out of him without overexposing him
  6. 99.9%. A playoff lock. We could literally go 0-17 and make it. This feels weird
  7. Eloy making a 5 star catch (per Statcast) and that awesome Moncada play in the 5th were really nice to see
  8. Yeah, the Sox are the #1 team in baseball in hitting sliders this year. Brubaker is actually an ideal matchup, IMO
  9. Yeah, I find it interesting that he's the primary scapegoat despite his two-run homer. Obviously he needed to catch that ball but it was just one of those games- Anderson got picked off, Madrigal got thrown out twice, Abreu made a dumb mistake, the list goes on. Not sure why Grandal is the only one getting a thread after it, especially when he has been playing so well lately
  10. I would simply keep the player who has been one of the best catchers and best hitters in baseball this year and for the last 5 years
  11. I think it'll be good enough to get us through the regular season and maybe, hopefully, a playoff run. But if we were at game 43 of a normal season, I would be really worried about the regression candidates too
  12. The wild-card series (if that's what they're calling it) is at the home ballpark of the higher seed. It's the ALDS, ALCS, and World Series that will be played at neutral sites (AL @ LAD/SDP, NL @ TEX/HOU). It hasn't been officially announced yet, but I'd bet on it
  13. Nah, they need to win 1-2 more to make the playoffs IMO. 28-32 should be enough for the 8th seed. Of course, we're gonna do better than 2-17 from this point forward, but this is just to say that the 99.9% postseason odds seem pretty accurate
  14. I would've been pleased with 7 out of 10 against the Royals this year. Taking 9 against them is awesome
  15. Not even remotely true
  16. Not only the best Dancing for Dubs, but perhaps the best video of any kind ever created in human history.
  17. I took Tim but it's quite close. All 3 are viable AL MVP candidates as of now, and that's not even hyperbole.
  18. But he was right AGAIN. His accuracy lately is crazy impressive.
  19. There are a lot of things people have been surprised by with Robert, such as "I didn't know he was that good defensively, I didn't know he was that fast" that were pretty obvious to those who have watched or followed him in the minors. However, his baseball IQ, work ethic, and analytical mindset were not widely discussed or publicized prior to his MLB arrival. Combined, they give me hope that he won't "just" stall out as a top 5 player in the AL, but that he'll maximize his potential and become a perennial MVP candidate.
  20. No, but the fact that Jerry felt the need to go to the media and cry about it makes me at least somewhat afraid of the spending budget this winter
  21. To be fair, Nightengale's article wasn't Bob speculating, it was direct quotes from Reinsdorf complaining about how he won't make as much money as he thought he would
