Sox playoff chances sit at 100%, 3rd in AL for WS odds
Jose Abreu replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yeah I know how the odds work, I was just referring to my own estimation that 27 wins or better will be good enough for the 8th seed. -

I rarely say this, but I love the way Ricky has used McCann this season. He really has gotten the most out of him without overexposing him

99.9%. A playoff lock. We could literally go 0-17 and make it. This feels weird -
Eloy making a 5 star catch (per Statcast) and that awesome Moncada play in the 5th were really nice to see

Yeah, the Sox are the #1 team in baseball in hitting sliders this year. Brubaker is actually an ideal matchup, IMO
-
Yeah, I find it interesting that he's the primary scapegoat despite his two-run homer. Obviously he needed to catch that ball but it was just one of those games- Anderson got picked off, Madrigal got thrown out twice, Abreu made a dumb mistake, the list goes on. Not sure why Grandal is the only one getting a thread after it, especially when he has been playing so well lately

I would simply keep the player who has been one of the best catchers and best hitters in baseball this year and for the last 5 years
-
I think it'll be good enough to get us through the regular season and maybe, hopefully, a playoff run. But if we were at game 43 of a normal season, I would be really worried about the regression candidates too

Does It Matter At all If We Win The Division?
Jose Abreu replied to Soxsi75's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The wild-card series (if that's what they're calling it) is at the home ballpark of the higher seed. It's the ALDS, ALCS, and World Series that will be played at neutral sites (AL @ LAD/SDP, NL @ TEX/HOU). It hasn't been officially announced yet, but I'd bet on it -

AND THATS A SWEET ROAD SWEEP WHITE SOX WINNER
Jose Abreu replied to Tnetennba's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Nah, they need to win 1-2 more to make the playoffs IMO. 28-32 should be enough for the 8th seed. Of course, we're gonna do better than 2-17 from this point forward, but this is just to say that the 99.9% postseason odds seem pretty accurate -

I would've been pleased with 7 out of 10 against the Royals this year. Taking 9 against them is awesome -

99.9% now per Fangraphs -
Not even remotely true

Not only the best Dancing for Dubs, but perhaps the best video of any kind ever created in human history.

Which Sox player has your vote for MVP so far?
Jose Abreu replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I took Tim but it's quite close. All 3 are viable AL MVP candidates as of now, and that's not even hyperbole. -
Hahn: Andrew Vaughn "could help the team this season"
Jose Abreu replied to Jose Abreu's topic in Pale Hose Talk
But he was right AGAIN. His accuracy lately is crazy impressive. -
The LEGEND of Luis Robert ESPN feature article
Jose Abreu replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
There are a lot of things people have been surprised by with Robert, such as "I didn't know he was that good defensively, I didn't know he was that fast" that were pretty obvious to those who have watched or followed him in the minors. However, his baseball IQ, work ethic, and analytical mindset were not widely discussed or publicized prior to his MLB arrival. Combined, they give me hope that he won't "just" stall out as a top 5 player in the AL, but that he'll maximize his potential and become a perennial MVP candidate. -

No, but the fact that Jerry felt the need to go to the media and cry about it makes me at least somewhat afraid of the spending budget this winter
-
To be fair, Nightengale's article wasn't Bob speculating, it was direct quotes from Reinsdorf complaining about how he won't make as much money as he thought he would
-
I wouldn't say that's disingenuous. If anything, I'd argue using OPS is disingenuous because offense is so down across the league this year, and wRC+ accounts for that. Last I checked, the league average OPS is down 18 points this year

Hahn: Andrew Vaughn "could help the team this season"
Jose Abreu replied to Jose Abreu's topic in Pale Hose Talk
There's no doubt in my mind that Vaughn would be putting up Robert/Jimenez numbers in AA/AAA this year. He got BABIP'd a bit in A+, and he's just way too polished and powerful to struggle at any minor league level -
I’m not a fan of Renteria but he’s probably the Manager of the Year frontrunner for the AL. I doubt he goes, sadly
