  1. His justification, based on the ending quotes, seems to be that he hasn’t had enough time or the right personnel to succeed in his career. That would make more sense if he wasn’t representing an organization that just demoted a top prospect after 26 at-bats
  2. I can't wait until we get rid of this guy
  3. Abreu is 4th in the sport in hard hit balls and is 15th in average exit velocity (minimum 200 BBE). I'm not sure where the people saying his batted ball stats suck are getting that from. If it's purely about pull% or something then maybe, but if he were on any other team, someone with the two stats I mentioned would be sought after by the board as a short-term 1B/DH.
  4. I highly doubt Abreu gets anything more than $10 million AAV from us anyway. The people who are against him because they think he's about to get 3/50 or something are gonna be in for a surprise.
  5. I feel like you're stuck on the idea that a ~5.00 ERA or FIP is bad. In this age, getting that + innings eaten from a starter is actually really valuable when the average team scores 4.91 runs per game in the AL.
  6. Not only would it be addition by subtraction (Engel/Jay, Sanchez, Castillo, Reed, etc.) but those guys are actually gonna be good. It's so frustrating that there's so much talent in AAA not getting a shot (I understand the service time angle on Robert and Madrigal but not others). I hardly even watch the games anymore, usually I don't enter that phase until mid-September.
  7. I mean he's right, ERA doesn't matter for any reliever unless they're the type that pitches multiple innings every outing, and even then it doesn't hold much weight
  8. He posted that foul ball on his Instagram story. It looked like it went 500 feet
  9. Goins being 2nd instead of Anderson, who is hitting like .450 this month, might be even worse than Jay (-0.7 fWAR) batting cleanup
  10. Wouldn't be surprised to see Frare up in September.
  11. Not in tonight's lineup. Wonder if he'll be in Charlotte's
  12. I hope it's Skole or Engel but it will probably be Cordell. Will be nice to have Moncada, Anderson, and Jimenez in the same lineup again.
  13. I don't think retirement is on the table at all. He's a 1.5 WAR starter with a good bill of health and a low price tag.
  14. Yes, these days, a ~5.00 ERA and 6 IP/start would be a really solid #5 SP. Nova is at 4.51 with 6 IP/start
  15. I thought he was safe
  16. Yes, Machado is on pace for a ~3.5 fWAR season which is actually roughly consistent with the value of his contract. Having him at 3B with Moncada at 2B would allow us to trade Madrigal for a controllable SP.

When healthy and rust-free, Eloy has actually been very good this year, and you can tell over the last week or so that his quality of contact has gotten much better. He has had some horrible luck in this Angels series though.
  18. 2012 Trout with fewer walks is actually my high-end comp for him

  20. 13 good games, too
