QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Feb 8, 2014 -> 10:57 PM) Horrible posters doing their thing. Especially wabbit, who is just beyond dreadful. I'm with you, Jose. Okay, so not everyone confuses Ronnie Brewer with Felipe Paulino. So what. Ronnie Brewer? This isn't the NBA. Ronnie Paulino is a MLB catcher. I believe he was in the Majors last year. It was an honest mistake. Can't tell if you're actually "with me" or sarcasm.

QUOTE (chisoxfan310 @ Feb 8, 2014 -> 04:39 PM) DH: Hart 1B: Smoak LF: Morrison RF: Cruz Though I think it would be wise to move Smoak and play Morrison at first and play Cruz in left with a Saunders/Gutierrez platoon in the outfield Move Smoak where? Via trade? Or move positions?

QUOTE (hi8is @ Feb 8, 2014 -> 04:19 PM) The reason he's listed third in the projected rotation is: Sale ( L ) Quintana ( L ) Paulino ( R ) Danks ( L ) Johnson ( R ) Breakin up the lefties yo. I'd switch 3 with 5.
-
Felipe, my bad.
-
I don't even know if Felipe makes the rotation. Sale, Quintana, and Danks are locks. Johnson is "penciled in pretty firmly" according to RH. Maybe Rienzo/Surkamp have huge STs while Paulino disappoints.

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Feb 8, 2014 -> 11:36 AM) Hmmm...well, it was one thing to bring those red, white, and blue unis back in '13 to commemorate the '83 team. It's quite another to bring the same uni back in '14 that could even remotely remind us of that dreadful '84 season. Good lord, one of the most disappointing seasons certainly in my lifetime! More disappointing than 2013?

QUOTE (staxx @ Feb 7, 2014 -> 08:53 PM) Yes. Let's see OUR hitters send his mediocre stuff out of the park, not other hitters sending it out against us. SANTANA IS A MEDIOCRE RECEIVER AT BEST.
-
QUOTE (oldsox @ Feb 7, 2014 -> 06:04 PM) I hope he signs with either KC, Minny, Cleveland, or Detroit. Couldn't agree more.
-
Santana is too inconsistent and overrated for my liking. Don't bring him near this team.

QUOTE (Willard Decker @ Feb 5, 2014 -> 06:28 PM) One would have to look at statistics from additional seasons to discern if there's a pattern. It's not hard to believe that teams having the best pitchers win consistently, but deciding a pitcher's worth based on a single statistical measure is shortsighted. The K/BB ratio is helpful in analyzing trends, particularly when evaluating power pitchers. But I hesitate to use only a single piece of information to gauge a player's effectiveness. --Captain Decker Who would use a single piece of info to measure effectiveness? --Captain Abreu

Where does it say anything about 83 jerseys?
-
If PK wins he faces Bryce "Overrated" Harper. In other words Paulie's f***ed

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 4, 2014 -> 08:52 PM) WHEN a worthwhile player shows up on the market. Yes, meaning Tanakas and Abreus, not Ervin Santanas.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Feb 1, 2014 -> 06:46 PM) Semi-related to banner/photo making: Most boards have a poster that makes cool videos relating to that team. Do we have one? Update, found a decent and very recent video. If you'd like me to post it then let me know but not sure if a single video link is thread-worthy.

Join the Adam Eaton Confrence Call Noon Wednesday
Jose Abreu replied to Marty34's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Feb 4, 2014 -> 08:17 PM) Adam Eaton @AdamSpankyEaton 3h Hey guys! I'm having a fan conference call tomorrow at 12 pm CST. Call 877-229-8493 and use pin 18912. Can't wait to hear your questions! It's gonna be s*** like, "DO YOU MISS ARIZONA!!" "WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE PIZZA PLACE IN AZ!!" "COME BACK TO THE DBACKS!!" His whole twitter/facebook is just that. -
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Feb 4, 2014 -> 08:00 PM) So what. So it shows that we're not afraid to be aggressive in free agency now.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 4, 2014 -> 06:24 PM) There isn't nearly as much to work with as a guy who has a big arm. This guy has Mark Buehrle's arm, at best. If he had Mark Buehrle's stuff, SF wouldn't have been looking to clear him from the 40 man roster, and even if they had been... SOMEONE in the NL would have claimed him. As hard as it is to find 5 good starters in baseball today, let alone a left handed starter making minimum wage, if the kid was really THAT good (meaning realistic 5th starter good) SOMEONE would have beaten us to him. With as much pitching as the Cubs and Astros don't have, they didn't even put a claim on Surkamp. To me that is as strong of a statement as any that Surkamp is a worst case scenario starter for the White Sox. He is the left-handed version of Dylan Axelrod as far as I am concerned. It's sort of, but not really, like this. If Quintana is this good why did the Yankees let him go?
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 4, 2014 -> 04:59 PM) Threads are dynamic and tend to change topics. He was responding to someone asking him why he thought the Red Sox would need De Aza. It's perfectly fine. Wasn't really referring to him but more to the Red Sox posters in general. Used his quote because it was most recent
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ Feb 4, 2014 -> 05:18 PM) With that in mind, I'm expecting an even bigger year from Axelrod. Ramon Troncoso might have a huge ST too. The difference is Cooper's never worked with ES before.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 4, 2014 -> 05:19 PM) Jose Dariel Abreu? JD f***IN A
-
QUOTE (SCCWS @ Feb 4, 2014 -> 04:34 PM) They also have Grady Sizemore for what that means. Bradley has some injury concerns, Sizemore has many more and Victorino is a wall-crash away from another one. So local media thinks they still could add another CF type. Sorry but what does this have to do with asking prices of staring pitchers beginning to fall?
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ Feb 4, 2014 -> 12:58 PM) Why? Great AAA numbers and I'm sure Cooper will do work with him.
-
To answer the OP question- yes.
-
Yeah, watch out for Surkamp. I think he's gonna have a huge ST.
