What should the White Sox do at closer?
I think Paulino has 2014 #4 starter stuff

What should the White Sox do at closer?
Don't let Perez anywhere near our team.

Your Realistic 2014 Lineup
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 08:56 PM) I doubt it. I guarantee EJ isn't going anywhere. QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 08:58 PM) Definitely. I feel like Johnson is going to become a big part of our rotation this year. Well then I guess we're down to Semien

Your Realistic 2014 Lineup
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 03:19 PM) Any objections that these are the 8 core players going forward in the Sox organization? Abreu A. Garcia Eaton Davidson Semien Sale Quintana E. Johnson OBJECTION: I think one of Johnson or Semien will be packaged in a deal that nets us a catcher this offseason.

Sox agree to 1 yr deal with Scott Downs

Sox agree to 1 yr deal with Scott Downs
This is exactly what we needed. Perfect.

Your Realistic 2014 Lineup
What's the consensus here? If we had to pick one, Grandal or Rosario?
-
2014 ehhhh maybe!
With Phlowers/no lefty relievers, I say we win 73 games. With a better catcher/two left relievers this team can win 78/79

Your Realistic 2014 Lineup
QUOTE (scs787 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 10:00 PM) Still a lot of good LH relievers out there. One of Eric O'Flaherty, Jose Mijares, J.P. Howell, or Scott Downs, in that order would be great additions Downs is sort of old. Get me O'Flaherty for 3-4 years and Rick Hahn is a God.

Sox trade Addison Reed to Diamondbacks for 3b Matt Davidson
QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 09:15 PM) If Davidson pans out, the girls are going to love him more than they ever loved Beckham. Not only is he a good looking dude but chicks dig the long ball. Some of them were drooling over Avi Garcia near the end of the year too

Sox trade Addison Reed to Diamondbacks for 3b Matt Davidson
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 07:51 PM) As with Fields, Dayan and Teahen, they're going to try another offense-first player at the hot corner and see if he can hold his own. And Davidson is so much better at offense than the two bolded guys.

Who Closes?
If Jones is promoted we'll still have a serious need for a LHP in the bullpen
-
Your Realistic 2014 Lineup
Here's a new problem. IF Keppinger were traded, we'd have to choose between Leury and Gillaspie (with Konerko, Phegley, and JorDanks/De Aza taking up the other spots)
-
Who Closes?
With Reed gone, the closer spot is unoccupied. Who do you give it to? I'd like it to go to Nate Jones, but if not him, then Lindstrom. Daniel Webb an option as well.

Your Realistic 2014 Lineup
Yeah, I mean if they don't perform then just let them go. It's not like we're shooting for the WS this year.

QUOTE (PorkChopExpress @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 01:36 PM) So apparently I'm an assistant hitting coach with the sox then. I guess we all are. We need higher salaries.

Sox acquire Adam Eaton from ARZ, deal Santiago, Jacobs
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 10:07 PM) With Eaton & Garcia now locked into CF & RF respectively, that leaves one OF spot open for the foreseeable future. Unless Hahn wants to commit to De Aza long-term, it makes more sense to trade him right now and give Viciedo another opportunity in LF. Hopefully there is a market for De Aza, because he's still a useful player but doesn't really fit into our long-term mix IMO. People seem to forget that in his one almost completely healthy year, Viciedo went 25/78. Even 2013 wasn't bad, 14/56 I believe, and he missed significant time. Sure, his defense sucks, but we didn't sign him for his defense.

Your Realistic 2014 Lineup
Brian Anderson has come full circle, deciding to try his hand as an outfielder again. Anderson tallied 355 big league games from 2005-09, mostly for the White Sox, before switching to the mound in 2010. He battled injuries as a pitcher, and tells MLBTR now, "I'd love to get back on the field again." Here are more notes from the Central divisions. The White Sox are "determined" to acquire a catcher before the Winter Meetings are through, Bruce Levine of th 670thescore.com tweets.

QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 08:54 PM) I can see a trade in which we receive Lawrie and give up De Aza plus more (those as centerpieces)

Sox acquire Adam Eaton from ARZ, deal Santiago, Jacobs
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 08:11 PM) Will it be fair to compare the return the Cubs get for Samardzija to the return the Sox got for Santiago? The annoying thing about that is Samardzija is the most overrated player in baseball. I bet you some team like Arizona would be stupid enough to give them a near Sale-like haul.

Your Realistic 2014 Lineup
All I remember about that pitcher is that he was always injured. Hopefully not the same for our Adam Eaton
