  1. Next year could be interesting regarding injuries in sports especially baseball and basketball and to a lesser degree hockey. I think some number of players will not be in as good of shape as they would have if they played a full season with training camp last year. Losing a complete minor league season could also be a factor for some players especially w pitching.
  2. It is fun to compare Bauer and Lynn. Hell, we could also compare Eaton and Springer. Some portion of the fan base had dreams of adding Bauer and/or Springer but the FO didn't. So now we need some bullpen help and another starter (?) and start counting down to when pitchers and catchers report.
  3. Sounds like that was Hahn's budget to meet for for next year.
  4. In 2019, Lynn had 246 SO in 208 innings. He walked 59 and gave up 21 HR. On a mediocre Ranger team, he put up solid numbers.
  5. Don't worry. Jerry is already in bed so nothing happens tonight.
  6. He also has been streaky in his career so a 60 game sample can be really misleading.
  7. Like everything in life, to each their own. I am okay w Walton but I only hear him on occasion. However he did the Maui Invitational this year in Asheville, NC and he was trashed by college hoop fans during the tourney. He certainly knows the game but rambles incessantly about everything but the actual game action.
  8. As long as Eloy doesn't "soft hit" Anderson and knock him out of the lineup.
  9. I think the issue may be Kopech. Tampa always seems to be looking to trade established players for a "young" return. I think the problem is how big of a question does Tampa think Kopech is. They must think Vaughn is a sure thing despite no AAA but my guess is they will want another sure thing and that would depend on where Kopech is physically and mentally. If they are confident w Kopech , that would seem to be a match.
  10. I believe we thought that of Coop at one time as well.
  11. But Toronto is not east coast so maybe it is New York/Boston
  12. It seems like there were a lot of rumors mid- November but seems like has gone quiet. San Francisco and San Diego could be dark-horses. I don't think Yankees are out of picture when Boston and Mets still have interest.
  13. Jack: When someone on the internet posts " This is not to say that it won’t happen", don't go off the deep-end . Wait till something actually happens. There is way more garbage than fact floating around at this time of year.
  14. Red Sox are supposedly very involved
  15. I am not convinced Boston, even w Springer, is a playoff team. The White Sox are. Bpstpn would have to add pitching as well and Bauer is a rumor but those are 2 big contracts. I also don't think the Cora factor is a major factor. It could sway Springer either way based on their history. I do think Boston wants a box office draw to replace Betts so they may open the checkbook for Springer. That to me may be the decisive factor. Will they spend or continue w the salary reduction they went after last year.
  16. Agree. I just read where Alex Cora picked his bench coach after he was re-hired.
  17. Wondering about Eloy. Do we think he is moving closer to being a LF or to DH. If DH is the answer, it takes away from Vaughn future ABs and makes Vaughn more likely to be dealt. I guess another wild scenario is whether you hold Vaughn based on potential and float Eloy's name who would have much higher value at this point.
  18. This is true, we don't know how TLR and JR resolved this. . Maybe TLR has seen the light at the end of the tunnel and made reparations for now his 2nd offense as well as his actions when confronted by the police. But the other side is maybe TLR will get a lawyer to sweep this under the carpet as he tried to do with the arresting officer. As I posted previously, a 76 year old driving under the influence can be a grave hazard on the road so hopefully TLR has a designated driver should it happen again. I wonder if JR still drives?
  19. Boston isn't trading Benintendi. They lost Betts and Bradley so they are already shopping for another OF( Springer was rumored as one possibilty)
  20. I would also add that a DUI for a "senior driver" is even worse since many seniors experience a decline in their reaction time while driving.
  21. Maybe the contract has not been signed yet. Sometimes the legal people take a while to finalize everything
  22. I think it will become bigger than a fan response. I can see the White Sox getting pressure from their media outlets. board members and advertisers to move on from TLR. Maybe I am naive, but think the FO is circling the wagons today trying to find the best way out of this dilemma.
  23. May already have happened, but I have to believe that Chicago/Illinois chapter of MADD will be all over this.
