Offseason Targets
Jack: When someone on the internet posts " This is not to say that it won’t happen", don't go off the deep-end . Wait till something actually happens. There is way more garbage than fact floating around at this time of year.

George Springer Thread
I am not convinced Boston, even w Springer, is a playoff team. The White Sox are. Bpstpn would have to add pitching as well and Bauer is a rumor but those are 2 big contracts. I also don't think the Cora factor is a major factor. It could sway Springer either way based on their history. I do think Boston wants a box office draw to replace Betts so they may open the checkbook for Springer. That to me may be the decisive factor. Will they spend or continue w the salary reduction they went after last year.

Sox hire Cairo as bench coach
Agree. I just read where Alex Cora picked his bench coach after he was re-hired.

Soxtalk Trade Value Poll
Wondering about Eloy. Do we think he is moving closer to being a LF or to DH. If DH is the answer, it takes away from Vaughn future ABs and makes Vaughn more likely to be dealt. I guess another wild scenario is whether you hold Vaughn based on potential and float Eloy's name who would have much higher value at this point.

La Russa arrested for DUI in Feb; charged day before hire
This is true, we don't know how TLR and JR resolved this. . Maybe TLR has seen the light at the end of the tunnel and made reparations for now his 2nd offense as well as his actions when confronted by the police. But the other side is maybe TLR will get a lawyer to sweep this under the carpet as he tried to do with the arresting officer. As I posted previously, a 76 year old driving under the influence can be a grave hazard on the road so hopefully TLR has a designated driver should it happen again. I wonder if JR still drives?

Sox hire Ethan Katz per WSD
Boston isn't trading Benintendi. They lost Betts and Bradley so they are already shopping for another OF( Springer was rumored as one possibilty)

**How to contact the White Sox & sponsors to demand Tony LaRussa's termination**
I would also add that a DUI for a "senior driver" is even worse since many seniors experience a decline in their reaction time while driving.

La Russa arrested for DUI in Feb; charged day before hire
Maybe the contract has not been signed yet. Sometimes the legal people take a while to finalize everything

La Russa arrested for DUI in Feb; charged day before hire
I think it will become bigger than a fan response. I can see the White Sox getting pressure from their media outlets. board members and advertisers to move on from TLR. Maybe I am naive, but think the FO is circling the wagons today trying to find the best way out of this dilemma.

May already have happened, but I have to believe that Chicago/Illinois chapter of MADD will be all over this.

White Sox coaching staff announced (List in first post)
You may be right, but I wish there was an heir apparent for TLR. If Tony had any health issue, would we assume Pettini is next in line? Where has he been since being released by Houston in 2013?

Jackie Bradley Jr
FWIW---Bradley is rumored to be in the 2year--$16Mil range. According to Boston media, Red Sox are looking at Springer and Ozuna but have also opened up talks w Bradley as well should they fall through. Supposedly KC and Houston could be other suitors. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?/topic/109967-jackie-bradley-jr/&page=2&_fromLogin=1

Poll: Rate How You Feel About TLR
As fans we won't know. Time will tell how a 76 year old manager will be able to perform physically and mentally. There is not much history to go on.

McCann feels he is a starter
McCann to Mets has been rumored in several places.

Offseason Targets
Cora is not a lock for Boston so maybe that would favor White Sox w Springer if Boston chooses someone else.

Tony La Russa named Manager
I think age can be a key factor. It is unfair to say that TLR is too old to manage a team. He may be perfectly capable of doing it. But there are also several areas like memory, physical stamina , mental stamina, patience to name a few that often result in gradual or rapid deterioration as people age. Many of us have probably looked at our parents and seen some decline in certain areas at all different ages. Last week when the rumors grew about the possibility of TLR being named, I posted an article about his time w Cora in 2018. The writer said he spent about 150 games home and away working w the Red Sox. That to me was a positive sign that he was very involved. But also remember he was in the press box so he was not facing the restrictions, in-game decisions, weather etc that managing on the field requires. JR at 84 probably looked at Tony and figured he is still a young guy. Hahn at 49 probably figured they hired an old man. Hopefully Tony is closer to the young guy than the old man.

Taijuan Walker, worth a gamble or is Jake Odorizzi
I think Morton will resign w Tampa

Tony La Russa named Manager
I disagree unless the White Sox eliminated Hinch/Cora as candidates because of their ban. If there was a ban on communication until their suspensions were up, JR and staff could not have had a thorough search if they never talked to Hinch. We know reports said Detroit immediately contacted Hinch once his suspension ended. So either Hinch was not a candidate or the search was not thorough.

Tony La Russa named Manager
Not sure that makes a difference. Capra was a 22 year employee and Boston had 6 as a player and 7 as a coach. Now maybe JR is more enamored w playing time. But Hahn has survived( so far..............).
-
This means sox will be active in free agency
This is still a business. It is safe to say teams will lose money this year especially w attendance, game day spending, gear and advertising. Owners may have much tighter budgets for 21/22 until fans and the economy recovers.

Tony La Russa named Manager
I do think Hahn did but I don't think there would have been a consensus w the players ( especially the young ones). Like most teams, I think RR was liked by some players and not by others. Certainly Keuchel was a big supporter of Hinch and he probably talked him up to some players. But I would assume most players would have a wait and see on any new manager which they will w TLR.

Pitching Coach and Bench Coach
Maybe they did but according to NBC Chicago : White Sox Targeted La Russa From Start, Didn't Interview A.J. Hinch https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/sports/nbcsports/report-white-sox-targeted-la-russa-from-start-didnt-interview-a-j-hinch/2361160/

Pitching Coach and Bench Coach
I wonder if at some point the White Sox front office started this "search" by eliminating both Hinch and Cora due to their Houston issues. I find it strange Hinch never even got an interview. Or JR decided before the season ended that it would be TLR and there was only one candidate being considered.

Who would you have hired?
I think he is the next Indian manager maybe even next year based on Francona's health
