http://www.outsidepitchmlb.com/white-sox-g...m-laroche/39672 Ideas of trading Laroche
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 09:48 AM) In my theory, Lawrie would replace whoever is traded. But I get your point. In theory lawrie would be your 3rd baseman. That would leave saladino and leury Garcia as your ss and backup with Sanchez and johnson as your 2nd baseman without any other players added. Not really much depth to be playing with trading. Saladino and Sanchez are your better defenders and Johnson is better chance offensively. Probably only chance any of those guys are part of package is if they bring in someone better for one of those positions tho they also could be used on bench.
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 08:42 AM) If one of Johnson/Sanchez were moved, I can't decide who I'd rather see traded. Both have pros and cons. I'd probably lean towards keeping Sanchez and trading Johnson if push came to shove, but I really don't know. I really don't think either should be moved honestly. If the Sox don't upgrade that position then you need a fall back plan. Micah has the chance for better offense and Sanchez is the better defender. If the Sox say go with Sanchez next year and he can't hit worth a lick then you have Micah to back him up. Sox can't afford to keep thinning the middle infield anymore .

QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 08:35 AM) you make a good point, but lets look into this a little further. dee gordon, 1 yr at ss if able, will be determine in ST. then anderson is up, ss and gordon moves to 2b. assuming nothing else in this equation .... his bat is too valuable to forgo the lucky chance of getting him. but what the hay, this is all fictional ideas. I think it would be pretty hard about trying to pry him away. I saw stuff that the Marlins are trying to extend him a contract.
-
QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 06:17 AM) again you are 100 % correct.... maybe it is b/c you are agreeing with me. but in all honesty, i was thinking that the sox will sign 1 player, and that will be Lawrie and for 3b. Sanchez has won that position from last yr play. MJ would be a great filler in a bigger trade that needed a player pkg to pull it off. but dang it, i would love to have gordon on the south side and playing ss. You have Anderson to play SS hopefully next year. Gordon plays 2nd and hasn't played SS in 2 years. Honestly Micah could be come Gordon if his defense improves and gets playing time to fully show what he can do. Also needs to stay healthy

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 29, 2015 -> 07:49 PM) The problem with a Lawrie/Saladino/Sanchez/Abreu infield is that there is very little power there besides Abreu. I don't see Sanchez and Saladino hitting over 10 homers each and Lawrie isn't known for his power either. I guess I'd be ok with that group if they all hit for high averages and played sparkling defense, but I don't see that as being realistic. No matter who they get for 3rd I still can't imagine the Sox running out saladino and Sanchez. I think one or the other plays and they fill the other position with someone else.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 29, 2015 -> 05:42 PM) Todd Frazier is just what the Sox need- a low-mid batting average, power hitter from the NL Even tho lawrie has played in AL he's the same as Frazier with alot less power.
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 29, 2015 -> 03:45 PM) Jim Bowden stated in his latest piece that WhiteSox top target is Todd Frazier with Brett Lawrie as the backup plan. Chicago White Sox Status: Retooling Top target: Todd Frazier The White Sox have been unable to get steady production from their third base spot for several years now, which is why they've targeted Cincinnati Reds third baseman Todd Frazier via trade. The Reds certainly will listen, though Frazier, a fan favorite, is the one player they'd prefer not to trade, thus their asking price for the All-Star third baseman is through the roof. I see it as highly unlikely these two teams will match up in a trade of this magnitude. The White Sox would then turn to the A's and Brett Lawrie, who is expected to be traded this winter. Fall-back options: Lawrie, Pablo Sandoval, Trevor Plouffe, David Freese, Martin Prado Frazier definitely has more offense then lawrie. Tho what it might take to get Frazier might be out of the Sox price range. Alot of people complaining over the lack of power and Frazier would definitely help fill that gap. Abreu actually would have been second to homeruns this past year if Frazier was on the team. Lawrie still hasnt fully tapped in to his full potential so not sure what he can still be able to do. Lawrie is also younger but both have the same years of control left. Should be interesting

QUOTE (daggins @ Nov 29, 2015 -> 10:32 AM) I think they'll add, but not premium FA. Asdrubal Cabrera, De Aza or Aoki for the OF, Trevor Cahill or Latos, etc. Although that isn't very intriguing, so maybe i'm way off. Cahill is considering the pirates

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 27, 2015 -> 06:11 PM) I'm not too surprised. No way are they going to trot two first full year players as our starting double play combo. Ya they cant try to run both saladino and Sanchez. Both weak bats in my opinion unless the go with Micah a 2nd tho still 2 rookies

#Royals, #Angels, #WhiteSox, #Mets and #Yankees have shown interest in Asdrubal Cabrera, according to Venezuelan journalist @EfrainZavarce. https://twitter.com/MaxWildstein/status/670371550370000896 Los dos equipos de Nueva York, además de @whitesox, @Royals y @Angels, se han interesado por Asdrúbal Cabrera, asegura una fuente. #MLB https://twitter.com/EfrainZavarce/status/670279920954777600 Not sure who this guy is

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 26, 2015 -> 03:21 PM) The Sox are in no position to be targeting a better player at 3rd base. It's close to catcher as far as good ones go. Sox need a guy there who can play everyday and still has upside and is fairly cheap. That's just what you're going to get. Sorry. They could be nce a position of targeting a better 3rd baseman if they used Quintana. The Sox have a guy who has upside and fairly cheap on avi but they cant seem to get anything better out of him. I could easily see lawrie regressing with the sox offensively
-
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 26, 2015 -> 02:25 PM) He was pretty healthy last year for the 1st time in a while and the Sox have a track record of keeping players healthier than average. I think he is just the type of guy the Sox are targeting more so than Valencia who is 5 years older. His K rate was way up , maybe swinging for the fences too much ,and his OBP sucks but I like he's an AL player. Good candidate for a bounce back ( way more so than LaRoche since I see his name being bandied about for a rebound). Maybe if he sticks at 3rd and plays less 2nd base his defense might also rebound. This is precisely who the Sox should be targeting for 2016. Micah Johnson for Lawrie straight up. Ya of course lawrie would be the guy they target cause he fits right on with their low average, chance for high power, high strikeouts and low obp. Im getting pretty tired of sox going after these type of players. If lawries power goes down with the Sox then you have another dunn/Laroche. Sox can't afford to continue to have these type of players and we know the sox can't correct the offense issue in these players
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 26, 2015 -> 01:02 PM) Yea, but Valencia has almost exclusively hit against lefties since his rookie year because he has been so bad against righties. He is only a platoon, you are still looking for a 3b And that is not me endorsing Lawrie, that guy is never healthy Valencia splits are pretty good against righties last year. Had about 70 more at bats against righties

I think they were needing bullpen help.

http://m.sfgate.com/news/article/Jed-Lowri...-to-6657610.php Ran across this article. Basically with the A's getting Jed Lowrie they will either move Brett Lawrie or Danny Valencia. Both of them are drawing interest from AL teams. Sox could use either of them tho with Brett lawries offense falling in line with sox hitters I would rather get Valencia who produced better numbers.

QUOTE (Knuckles @ Nov 25, 2015 -> 09:50 PM) The same Adrian Nieto Sox have put on the major league roster to protect his status? LOL Shows how desperate the Sox are in need of catching at the time

Rick Hahn says it's too early to say how playing time will be divided between Avila and Flowers at catcher. https://twitter.com/ESPNChiSox/status/669573109654138889 Hahn talks about flexibility behind the plate provided by the Avila signing https://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/669573159591542788 Hahn says that while Avila's numbes have declined, he still can get on base and hit for power vs. righties. https://twitter.com/ESPNChiSox/status/669573753920188416 Hahn said catcher's market has moved a little more quickly than other markets. Avila was a White Sox target https://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/669573988327276545

Alex Avila fun fact: He was teammates with #WhiteSox David Robertson in college at Alabama in 2006. https://t.co/GTkDvhar07 https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/669558072055103488

Honestly, after Wieters took the QO, your FA catching market was Chris Iannetta, Geovany Soto, Dioner Navarro, Bryan Pena and Alex Avila https://twitter.com/WriteSox/status/669557890898919426 I wonder with the 1 year deal if they will try for wieters next year
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 25, 2015 -> 10:38 AM) Will he be the starter or the backup? Flowers will catch Sale no matter what, but I wonder what Avila's role will be. For less than $3 million, I like this signing. Platooning with flowers
