  1. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 09:13 PM) @ChiTribKane: Tyler Flowers was surprised by White Sox cutting him. "It really still doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to go this route with it." But... @ChiTribKane: But Tyler Flowers said maybe decision will make more sense when he hears next move. Either way, he expects a decent market for his services. Beat me to it lol
  2. QUOTE (dayan024 @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 08:18 PM) How about another hahn favorite Jason Castro from the Astros? He has only one year left before free agency. Unless they want to extend him tho he hasn't lived up to expectations
  3. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 07:42 PM) Guys, that's rabbit.... Kinda thought that
  4. Really starting to think Hahn is going to be really busy and should be interesting
  5. Another catcher to watch as a buy-low type: Devin Mesoraco. #WhiteSox-#Reds have had dialogue. #Reds need pitching. #WhiteSox need power. https://twitter.com/ChiSoxraBBit/status/672225749307400192 Ran across this. Not sure about the guy who tweeted. Mesoraco had a really nice year in 2014
  6. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 07:30 PM) Sale loved throwing to Flowers, wonder how he feels about this I'm sure he will take a better offense and chance of winning then throwing to flowers who's a hole on offense
  7. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 07:21 PM) Jason Castro would be surprising, purely because you'd suspect they'd be looking for a right handed bat. That said, he's been a long term target of Hahn and maybe Hanh learned from Kenny in the sense that Kenny always got his guy. Problem is that castro is a free agent after this season. So he's only a year rental unless they lock him up but still hasnt lived up to potential.
  8. White Sox GM Rick Hahn said he has another catcher ready to be added after non tendering Tyler Flowers . https://twitter.com/MLBBruceLevine/status/672217920454332416
  9. Rick Hahn said they hope to still work something out with Jacob Turner, outside of arbitration constraints. https://twitter.com/ChiTribKane/status/672217094264643585
  10. #WhiteSox GM Rick Hahn on Flowers: "This move was done as part of a plan." Replacement move coming https://twitter.com/scotgregor/status/672215543924027392 Rick Hahn said this is part of a plan, #WhiteSox hope to add another catcher in coming days. https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/672216684095238146

  12. Don't worry I'm sure the Sox will trade for him during the season lol
  13. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 09:28 PM) Is there a way for one of the mods to unlock the offseason plan thread? I feel like all these proposals would be better in one place. I'm not quite sure why that thread was locked anyway. Because everyone was throwing everything into that thread and I guess people were complaining about have to read through it
  14. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 07:40 PM) Looks like another player is going to Baltimore too. Wow. Seems like a lot to give up for a career minor league catcher. Don't understand the rush to get rid of him. Tender him a contract and work on dealing him between now and Spring Training. The mariners didn't want to pay him period and basically just got rid of him.
  15. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 09:14 PM) Eaton Heyward Abreu Arenado Melky TFT Avila Sanchez Saladino Bench-Flowers, MJ, LaSuck, Shuck Rotation- Sale, Rodon, Johnson, Danks, Lackey? I dunno, this rotation could be pretty bad without Q. Honesty with that lineup I think the Sox would lose more games then they did this year. If the Sox want to truly contend in 2016 then sanchez, Saladino and Trayce should only be seen in small doses in playing time. If the Sox were rebuilding then throw those guys out there to see what they are. They all can play some very good defense but offensively that would really bring down the team
  16. I'm starting to think that if saladino or sanchez start they will be on short leashes offensively. Started going over the overall team per position stats and it's pretty sad. The collective of all the guys who played 2nd for the Sox posted a .217 average, and .266 obp both dead last in all of baseball. Just throwing this out there sanchez started 112 games as second which he played 69% of the games for the Sox at 2nd. He hit only .007 better then team average and .002 better obp.
  17. Trumbo to orioles. One less spot for Laroche to possibly go
  18. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 08:41 AM) Not sure what happened to Lawrie in '15 but his defense was average or better before that and since he's just shy of 26 I see no reason why he cannot get back to playing solid defense. I agree about upgrading the defense on the field. It's why I'm fine with giving Sanchez 2B and see if his bat comes around. Same with Saladino at SS if the Sox are unable to find a fit for that position. If the Sox end up going with Lawrie, Saladino and Sanchez it would leave funds available for the Sox to trade for an impact outfield bat (CarGo) that has a higher salary. I know Saladino and Sanchez aren't good hitters but its possible they can make up for that with their defense which would be pretty damn good up the middle of the infield. As bad as the Sox need offense, I'm pretty much thinking to upgrading the defense first and foremost because of the pitching staff. Sox should only carry one of saladino or sanchez unless their bats heavily improve. We saw how much the improved the defense last year but the offense really affected the team along with others. The Sox pitching staff put up a 3.98 era good for 14 in baseball. The Sox offense put up 622 runs which is 28 in baseball. That's 3.84 runs per game which is less the what the pitching staff have up. Sox really need to get offense at this point.
  19. jae-gwun hwang, 3b, has been posted by the lotte giants. 2 GMs opined that he is not a starting calibre player. https://twitter.com/JonHeymanCBS/status/671515045856206849
  20. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 02:11 PM) you have an opinion that your think is right. let me reverse this thought process on you. in your scenario, you will need to take in consideration several variables that will need to all happen. 1. you will need to assume TT, replacing Avi will be hitting better than Avi. 2. you will need to assume Lawrie is hitting his weight 3, you will need to assume Laroche is north of 250 avg, 4. you will need to assume the combo of flower and Alex will be hitting north of 230-250. now if sanchez is not hitting, then the sox can deal with a weak bat, now if there is any failure in any of the above 4, the sox will have another season as last yr. it is plain and simple. mj defense is or was horrible. enuf that last yr, with the record they had, they had to fine a replacement. But then the offense that Sanchez played for the rest of the year also contributes to the Sox record when they were putting up one of the horrible offenses for the year. You keep saying you want a dee gordon when Micah can be that much of a player offensively then sanchez. My whole point of my argument that no one is getting is until either Sanchez or johnson has totally flamed out that I would not trade either of them cause they plain and simple need the depth of them cause neither right now is a perfect candidate to be the 2nd baseman. The both have flaws but need the depth in case one can't cut it to see if the other can.
  21. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 01:40 PM) One thing to keep in mind and while it doesn't say much, Lawrie is an upgrade at third over what we've seen the last two or three seasons. Another thing is that even if the Sox trade for Lawrie and use Micah to get him, the Sox are still looking for a SS and with Sanchez at 2B, Saladino becomes the utility who can play all three of those positions well. Micah has a nice bat but there's no room in the lineup with the current roster and we all know about his defense. If Micah cannot field 2B, there's nowhere to put him and that makes him very expendable in a potential trade. I'm not saying he will be traded, there are others I'd rather see traded first but I wouldn't hesitate on trading Micah either. Don't think you really want to waste more development of saladino as a utility player at this point until he plays into one. If he isn't having continuous at bats then he probably should be in the minors playing everyday. Also you say if Micah can't field it makes him expendable but if Sanchez can't hit then he should become expendable as well since his really only position is 2nd.
  22. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 01:12 PM) I think he is saying that Lawrie would be acquired to be a 3rd baseman as of right now, but if we are suddenly in the hunt come July and a 3rd baseman that can hit falls into our laps.. you get him and move Lawrie to 2nd base Yes I know what he is saying and what you are both implying is a hypothetical. How about the reverse hypothetical were you can't find a better 3rd baseman and the Sox traded away Micah and they have Sanchez hitting like crap and need to upgrade him offensively but can't do it within cause they traded the little depth that had now they have to go outside the organization to fI'll it. That's what I'm getting at to not trade the little depth the Sox have for middle infielders
  23. New #WhiteSox catcher Alex Avila looking forward to playing Tigers and going back to Detroit. "It'll be nice to kick their ass" https://twitter.com/scotgregor/status/671374755228811265 Avila on facing Sale in the past: "Even when I was playing every day, that was always my day off." https://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/671377246930788352 Avila looking forward to Spring Training already, getting to know new pitching staff https://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/671377434181312512
  24. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 10:42 AM) Lawrie plays 2B as well so if we were to acquire him our never ending search for a good 3B shouldn't/wouldn't end Yes I know he plays 2nd as well but the need of a 3rd baseman is now would have him playing there for now.
