  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 02:30 PM) It's just a message board. Nobody's 'living' in the past or even present on the message board, just spending leisure time and commenting. It's not that big a deal. Now, how did I know it would be you responding to that post?
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 02:22 PM) I don't know if I should laugh or cry at Melky's salary for 17. You didn't even put LaRoche's salary in here. Melk's contract: http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...shtml#contracts BR has him listed at 15M for 2017, not a huge difference but not 17M. LaRoche is a FA after 16.
  3. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 09:17 AM) Guys can we please stop pretending that we KNEW s*** ALL ALONG? Samardzija has had a s***ty year that no one should have predicted, even if you didn't like the original acquisition. You're all lying if you claim you knew he would be this bad. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 09:39 AM) If people knew he would be this bad or even close to it, the White Sox acquire Samardzija thread would have had a much different tone. I do think some thought he was overrated, and didn't buy all the hype. But you are right, there is no way anyone could have thought he would be this bad. Gentleman, you are both correct. I was very much against the idea of trading for Samardzija last November before the trade happened but I would never have guessed he would have such a bad year and honestly thought he would pitch just fine for the Sox once the trade was made. I don't think anyone in baseball could have guessed he would have such a bad year, a regression maybe but not to the epic proportions we have witnessed this year. It is what it is and its time to move on.
  4. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 06:58 AM) Even if it's just the current banner with his face sloppily whited out, I wouldn't care. An addition of Quintana and/or Abreu would be nice, though. I wouldn't put Q on the banner since, according to some here, he will surely be traded this winter. Seriously though I would put Q up on the banner in a heart beat since I doubt seriously he is traded. I like the Abreu idea as well. Sale, Abreu and Q for the banner! Oh yeah, f*** Samardzija. That is all.
  5. Good grief talk about living in the past. Ozzie is gone, accept it and move on.
  6. As was mentioned in the game thread, give the rest of his starts to Montas. I see no point in Samardzija throwing another pitch in a Sox uniform. Let me be the first to admit that I was wrong in my stance of offering Shark bait the QO in hopes of getting a comp pick.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 08:56 PM) Leury I miss Adam Dunn.
  8. It's times like this I wish there was a slaughter rule. f*** it, let the bat boy and south paw have a chance to pitch tonight.
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 08:53 PM) Samardzija has passed Navarro on the dislike list. At least Navarro didnt play ND football. Next up on the list: Nick Swisher Lol, I was just wondering to myself who I dislike more. In the end I still say Navarro is #1 due to three horrible seasons in a Sox uni compared to Shark bait's one. Shark bait has definitely moved into the 2nd spot for me though.
  10. This trainwreck gets worse and worse. At this point, I no longer give a toss about the comp pick, just get the prick out of town!
  11. Surprise surprise, 4A player all the way. So how long before the Sox DFA Olt?
  12. QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 01:06 PM) nah.... that one is me. i was chase from this site many yrs ago. as i been chase from the hawks site on future hawks. they are a lot worst than here. There's a future hawks site? Hmm, learn something new every day.
  13. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 12:09 PM) Not that I care about grammar on a message board but I was clearly just making a ridiculous thread title on purpose with that thread. For what it's worth, I found the title to be funny. Disturbing and scary story to say the least surrounding the scouting of Marte.
  14. I wish Ozzie well and appreciate 2005 but I do not miss him, his kids or the circus side show attraction that came with the Guillen family. I hope for Ozzie's sake that if he does get another opportunity, he focuses on his team and tells his kids to STFU. I do miss Ozzie's humor as I found him to be quite funny.
  15. Yep, hate the wave. The man that gave the golden finger to the wave gets a huge thumbs up from me. Well done big guy!
  16. I won't cheer for the Sox to lose but I won't complain if they do since I think I've gotten used to it this season. Sonny Gray could help the Sox tonight though.
  17. Interesting thoughts by one GM on Heyward... Jason Heyward “will be the bellwether of this market,” as his unique case as a player who brings youth (26 years old) and elite defense to free agency rather than an elite bat will set the tone for other signings. His youth could play a different role in the contract, as one GM thinks Heyward could sign an eight-year, $175MM deal with an opt-out clause after four years. This way Heyward could hit free agency again when he’s only 30 years old and in good position for another major contract. Passan notes that Heyward is represented by Excel Sports Management, and Excel’s Casey Close has negotiated high-profile opt-out clauses in recent contracts for clients Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke (though it’s worth mentioning that Heyward isn’t represented by Close himself). http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/09/quic...es-greinke.html There's some interesting stuff on Cespedes in the link as well. Glad I do not have any hopes on either of these players, nor Upton for that matter.
  18. Shame the Sox OF is so crowded. As another member has mentioned, Gerardo Parra would be a great fit for the Sox with his defense, speed, base stealing and no QO. Parra #1 and Eaton #2 setting the table would be awesome. Parra CF, Eaton LF Thompson RF Avi DH, Melky as a rotating outfielder and LaRoche grabs some bench. Would prefer to trade Melky and LaRoche but I think that's highly doubtful. One can dream right?
  19. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 13, 2015 -> 03:06 PM) I don't know about that. A starter who throws 98 plus is pretty good. It seems though that every hard thrower that we hve come along gets sent to the pen. I was afraid that was where Sale was going to get stuck How did Montas look in his three innings? Haven't been near a TV so I have no clue outside of looking at the box score.
  20. Trayce is batting 5th and playing RF. Hopefully we see more of him the rest of the season.
  21. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Sep 11, 2015 -> 11:09 PM) Keep in mind though some (perhaps most) of those who bought season ticket plans after last winter's spending spree may not be back after seeing this stinkfest. That's less money to work with since the Sox historically won't go much into the red if at all. Mark The point DA and myself are making is that with the Sox having an offer on the table, the money was already there before the Sox tanked.
  22. I like this. Rodon will still end up with a significant increase in innings this year and he's still just 22. It's only a skipped start, no big deal.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 11, 2015 -> 10:35 PM) You skipped over three Hall of Famers (Faber, Lyons , Wilhelm) and a near-miss in Billy Pierce. How can you put someone who knowingly threw a game to gamblers on that list? If we had one for the last 20-30 years or so, it would have to include Sale, Buehrle, Black Jack, Alex Fernandez/Alvarez. Faber, Lyons, Walsh, Wood, Cicotte, Pierce, Buehrle, Doc White, Thornton Lee and Jim Scott by career WAR with Sox. Well, simply put, there's only room for five and those are the five I chose. I did say in my first post that there were others in my head.
  24. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 11, 2015 -> 09:40 PM) I agree FREE TRACY AND SHUCK! Yes!!! Sit LaRoche as a bench bat, move Avi to DH and go with a rotating OF Thompson, Shuck, Eaton and Melky.
  25. The Dash have been eliminated with tonight's 4-3 loss but they had a heck of a season.
