  1. Where do Salty and AJ end up? Both Sox teams, Twins, and Rangers have holes behind the plate.
  2. In an outfield that may feature both Holliday and Craig, they need Bourjos in center.
  3. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 04:44 PM) Yeah, that's what I was saying earlier. Piscotty was already behind Tavaras, and now they just added 2 more OFs. The minor league OF they got from the Angels was the #4 prospect in LAA, but I'm not sure how he would stack up in the Cardinals mind to Piscotty. But I'm think our chances of them giving us Piscotty should go up considerably after this move. And then they also have OF James Ramsey, their 2012 1st RD pick who will be in either AA or AAA this season. They have a plethora of young OFers. According to the prospect rankings on mlb.com for the Cardinals, he's just outside the top 10 at number 11. Piscotty is 7. Grichuk just turned 22 in August. In 500 at-bats last year, Grichuk hit .256, OBP of .306, slugged at .474, and hit 22 HR, 27 doubles and 8 triples. Struck out 92 times.
  4. I wonder if the Cards would be more open to an Alexei deal now that they were able to bring in another outfield prospect into the mix (maybe for Piscotty straight up like people have suggested before? Maybe even this Grichuk they just got and another prospect for Alexei?).
  5. It would be like an NL version of Zobrist. An everyday utility player
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 08:16 PM) Except for leaving them short in the bullpen, fielding-wise and lacking speed (with the exception of Austin Jackson). They also have to find a full-time LFer and replacement for Victor Martinez at DH. Presumably, Castellanos will play 3B now, instead of LF. That's one issue resolved. Still think they should upgrade Avila at catcher. Victor Martinez isn't a free agent
  7. They get to move Miggy back to first after his groin surgery and extend any players that need extensions soon (Scherzer, Miggy)
  8. Looks like they free up money to sign Miguel long-term and I guess ship him to first? Kinsler helps fill a hole at second.
  9. If he has the ability to be at least a decent enough catcher (Elmore), it would be interesting seeing him on the bench as the backup catcher that can play all over as well. Definitely would give him a lot of value to the team. This all would depend on who we brought in to be the starting catcher tho. You could end up with a bench of: 1. Elmore C/IF/OF 2. Paulie (platoon DH) or Keppinger (platoon at third) 3. Garcia IF/OF 4. Danks OF
  10. I don't think he would take at-bats away from Abreu. If anything, it will be platoon partner with Dunn and late inning bat like Giambi was for the tribe.
  11. To the people who hate on him for cheating....Rienzo and Quintana have both failed drug tests when they were in the minors and people are still supporting them...so there's that
  12. Is he even eligible to be taken in the Rule 5 draft?
  13. Sanchez was bad last year so it's pretty unlikely that any team will award him an MLB roster spot.
  14. Daniel Murphy has seen time in the outfield, third base, and first base over the years. I think he has primarily been a second baseman the past few seasons though.
  15. Mets are making him available. Thoughts? For the right price, he'd be an upgrade over Beckham and a left-handed bat that could hit in the 2-spot, though I doubt we would be interested.
  16. Well if they bring Paulie back and go with a 7 man bullpen, the bench looks like: backup catcher Paulie/Dunn (platoon DH and backup 1B) L. Garcia super utility player Danks Keppinger would have to be dealt. This is similar to how Indians had it last year but with Giambi coming off the bench late in games. a 6 man bullpen and 5 man bench would look like: backup catcher Paulie/Dunn Garcia super-sub Kep platoon 3B Danks With this, you'd pretty much have to add a right-handed innings eater starter to the rotation instead of going full young with Rienzo and Johnson.
  17. If we could get Jaso for Rienzo at the most, it would be worth doing. A Jaso/Flowers or Jaso/Phegley or heck even a Jaso/Hannigan (if we could bring him aboard) wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. And I don't understand why people knock his defense. Flowers and Phegley are terrible behind the plate
  18. They don't necessarily need to sign Paulie. They can pick up an outfielder and move Viciedo to DH. They can get more athletic and faster
  19. I think the only possible suitors would be Seattle (if they lose Ibanez and Morales) and Colorado (if they don't sign a catcher and move Rosario to first). He can split time between DH and 1B with Smoak in Seattle and with the Rockies he can play 1B. A middle of the lineup of 3. CarGo LF 4. Tulo SS 5. Cuddyer RF 6. Dunn 1B doesn't look too shabby. The Sox can send Dunn and say 7.5-10 mill to either team receiving a fringe MLB player in return. The Sox can then: sign Paulie to DH, or slide Viciedo into a DH/1B rotation and then sign a left handed hitting outfielder or if they don't think you are going to contend next year, let Thompson and Mitchell battle it out in spring for the final OF spot. Since the free agent catching options are bad next off-season as well, I would offer AJ a 1 year deal with an option for '15. The team gets more left handed and Flowers and Phegley are terrible and there is nothing in the farm regarding catching anyway.
