Santos Rodriguez was claimed by the D-Backs. I wish we would have dfa'd Heath instead. We probably could have snuck him through waivers. Not a big deal though it would have been nice to have another lefty in the mix for a lefty reliever spot.

For me, I think the favorites to land him are: Yankees, Cubs, Dodgers, and the Angels but if I had to pick a couple dark horses, they would be the Sox and Mariners. Sale Tanaka Quintana Johnson Danks(/Paulino/Rienzo/Surkamp) wouldn't look too shabby next season.

There really isn't a "bid" anymore. He is free to negotiate with anyone, but the team he agrees to a deal with has to be willing to pay the max bid (the 20 million)

De Aza can bat leadoff and play center and can move into a platoon role with Ludwick when Hamilton comes up. Plus Ludwick is a free agent after this year and De Aza can just be the fulltime LF in 2015 (unless they sign another right handed cheap bat to platoon obviously). EDIT: just looked at their top 20 and they didn't have any catchers there. We could trade for some pitching depth I suppose.

I'm thinking when we deal guys like De Aza, Keppinger and Gillaspie, I think we will mostly get pitching depth. Maybe a solid pitcher or 2 for De Aza, but the other 2 more fringe kind of guys that can be turned into solid 4/5th starters or relievers (think how we picked up Quintana as a free agent who was cut from the Mets and Yankees before and the recent Surkamp pickup).
