  1. If he is supposedly "a notch down from Dervish" then I would be perfectly ok if his stats looked like Iwakuma or Kuroda
  2. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 11:14 AM) I can't help but read your posts in Gob's voice and it makes them so, so much better Oh come on!
  3. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 09:35 AM) @RobertMurrayMLB tanaka had asked his followers to send a photo for his profile pic. A bunch came in, and he tweeted "can't decide" Send him the photoshopped pic of him with a Sox hat on!
  4. It's not unrealistic to think that he could pick somewhere he wants to play for less money than another offer. Seriously how many 25 year olds in the game make 20+ mill a year? Most are making league minimum or are in the arbitration process still.
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 10:18 AM) I'm hungry For Tanaka in the rotation
  6. MLBtraderumors is saying that Gordon Wittenmyer has heard from a couple sources that the Cubs are a long shot to get him. Basically from what people on here have been saying, they'd have to offer a lot more than other teams.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 18, 2014 -> 05:26 PM) He took a physical when he was in LA. Yes he did
  8. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 17, 2014 -> 07:33 PM) Very cool stuff boys. Not getting excited yet but it's cool to be involved. Of course, anything from bucket or Rock would be wonderful about now. I worked 10-7 today and read the last 15 pages only to see that Heyman called the Sox and Cubs front runners and a bunch of posters talked about their dicks. Classic
  9. QUOTE (beautox @ Jan 17, 2014 -> 05:53 PM) If the sox land Tanaka do you move Johnson + to the astros for Castro? seeing how you can slot in Rienzo or Paulino in the 5th spot with Beck a stones throw away and a possible #3 pick of Rodon or Hoffman on the fast track? I would actually like to see them hold onto Johnson but I could see Beck and Bassistt being moved
  10. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 17, 2014 -> 01:40 PM) I was outraged by the Danks-McCarthy trade and was all about trading for ManRam as well, whoops. My best though...when I was 16 or 17 I made a thread about how we should trade Carlos Lee for Kris Benson! Maybe for Kris Benson's wife
  11. QUOTE (Baron @ Jan 16, 2014 -> 05:32 PM) http://nypost.com/2014/01/16/cubs-white-so...dium=SocialFlow Just when I think I'm out, they pull me back in!
  12. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 16, 2014 -> 10:19 AM) While you're right, there are a lot of starting pitchers to be desired. Sure some will sign extensions but... Scherzer Shields Lester Bailey Masterson Perhaps seeing how this year plays out and then deciding whether we want to spend on a RH #1,#2 or #3. Namely Shields/Bailey. Depends on how we finish too. I wouldn't want to sacrifice a first round pick for a few of those guys but a second one if we have a top 10 draft spot
  13. Rangers are looking for left-handed starting pitchers. The only way I see us getting back into the Tanaka sweepstakes is if we can work out a deal with the Rangers and free up some cash.
  14. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 06:40 PM) B&B mentioned we are backing off? I'm kind of disappointed by this. But I am not surprised. I think everyone in baseball knows that he will be a Dodger or Yankee. I do not believe there is any source though. No one else can back it up it seems.
  15. Fukudome wasn't a bad player. Overpaid yes. But he shouldn't have been counted on to be a middle of the order bat. More of a 1 or 2 hitter
  16. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 04:14 PM) What about the 3-way where we got Damon, the Red Sox got Maggs, and I think someone else got Nomar can't remember who. Nomar went to the Cubs IIRC shortly after that. That deal I believe was A-Rod going to Boston for Manny and then Maggs for Nomar.
  17. Castro isn't with the team anymore
  18. Dodgers and Kershaw are closing in on a record breaking deal. Stay tuned.
  19. Dodgers are trying to extend Kershaw this week. That would be great if he got 300+ and it hopefully takes them out of Tanaka knowing they have to lock up Hanley too.
  20. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jan 14, 2014 -> 06:34 PM) If Sox sign Tanaka, how much does the attendance increase? 15 starts at home probably means at least 5000 extra per game, especially if he does well. Yeah and if we are doing well as a whole (let's be honest, we probably that good) but we would draw better on days he didn't start too.
  21. You would also get an infusion of Japanese fans at the games too. I went to a Sox Mariners game one year. The stadium was filled with Japanese people (most of which weren't even representing a baseball team). They went crazy whenever Ichiro came up to bat. They also had a Japanese reliever come into pitch and all of the people by my seats went crazy. Then Munenori Kawakaki came into the game to pinchrun and they got really excited for that too. They weren't really paying attention to the game and just laughing and having a good time with each other until a Japanese player was announced up to bat or pitch (or in this case too: run).
  22. Suk-Min Yoon is traveling to the IS Wednesday in hope of getting a contract done. He could be an big under the radar signing like Iwakuma eas for to Darvish
  23. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jan 13, 2014 -> 09:01 PM) I really need to just keep telling myself that Tanaka is already a Yankee. It'd be bad to get my hopes up anymore than they already are... DOWN BOY! Same here man. I honestly keep thinking we are a dark horse to sign him and I just want to not believe that ha
