Don't think Beckham is going to raise his stock much either. Still probably worth a few fringe arms/low a prospects no matter how much time he gets in.
-
I know, I'd rather see a platoon of Gillaspie/Beckham with Semien moving around accordingly.
-
Playing 4-5 games per week is pretty close to regular playing time to be honest.
-
Honestly, seeing a productive infield long-term of Davidson, Semien/Sanchez/Johnson between second and short, and Abreu is a long-shot. Guarantee they add some sort of veteran after moving Alexei and moving 2 of the 3 younger guys in deals for other prospects that aren't MI (pitchers, blocked catchers, etc.)
-
Anyone think there is a chance this guy sticks when Beckham comes back over Garcia? I think if you can get him into the lineup 4-5 games a week between second, third and the occasional game at short, he may be worth keeping on the team. The Rangers were able to get Profar into the lineup enough last season and they had Kinsler, Andrus, and Beltre ahead of him on the depth chart. Far more impressive than Gillaspie, Ramirez, Beckham. In my opinion, Semien should stick on the roster over Garcia.

If Avi goes on the 15-day dl, it's not the worst thing. That's 2 weeks of showcasing both De Aza and Viciedo every day and hopefully one of them gets dealt by the end of the two weeks.

People are STILL not over the loss of Santiago? Guy is a 5th starter at best...

QUOTE (Hawkfan @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 10:03 PM) Don't tell me how to live my life. Semien needs to prove he is worth a damn. So far he has not. But I hope he does prove himself because Beckham could certainly demand at least a quality reliever. Beckham still needs to prove he is worth a damn. You could probably get at least a quality reliever for Beckham right now.

Another 3-run homer perhaps?

James Shields on say like a 3 year deal would seem realistic. You can throw him in between Sale and Q.

Anyone else's xfinity feed janky? During commercials it's fine but during gameplay it's irritating.

So apparently Gillaspie is hitting third today haha -
QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Mar 31, 2014 -> 08:57 AM) Presuming Dunn won't be here going into the 2015 season, what players should be available who are power-hitting lefties? Most realistic option without giving up a draft pick or paying a lot of money? Seth Smith. Can be the primary DH but also spell guys in left and right.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 29, 2014 -> 02:18 PM) Dickerson, that used to be on the Reds? Seriously? I've never even heard of Blackmon...unless he used to be a basketball player. No that was Chris Dickerson. He's referring to Corey.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 29, 2014 -> 08:47 AM) As I stated months ago, the odd man out with Konerko coming back is Jordan Danks. Is Jordan Danks better off playing every day in Charlotte or being the 5th OF in Chicago? Konerko and his .900+OPS takes Dunn's spot vs. LHP. Whine all you want about it, but it isn't weakening the team. Agree. The only downside to him being here is a thinner bench. As far as taking away time from young players, that isn't the case.
-
No Rasmus thank you. And if it was between him and Eaton, I think I'd rather have Eaton in center.
-
No. I'd rather they signed someone like Seth Smith. Someone who can get DH at bats but can also play some outfield to give other guys days at DH. Kind of like a rotating DH, except not with Kotsay.

How much $$ will we get for Dunn when we inevitably trade hi

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 25, 2014 -> 02:20 PM) Can't. White Sox kept a mascot on their active roster instead. How exactly is Konerko taking at-bats away from Davidson? Paulie doesn't play third. Sure, the Paulie signing took away depth on the bench, but he isn't starting so he really isn't taking away playing time away from any youngsters who should be playing in the minors everyday anyway. -
QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 25, 2014 -> 05:34 PM) If they just dumped Beckham now for a low level prospect, I wouldn't even care. Semien needs to play. But yeah, patience. Agree! Even if it is for a fringe arm that Coop can fix.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 24, 2014 -> 11:28 AM) See the names at the bottom? He's probably there, but it's cut off. Same with Dunn. No that would be the pitchers. Under "left handed", it only lists Tekotte and Johnson. Probably just a off day for both.

QUOTE (DashFan @ Mar 23, 2014 -> 02:57 PM) I have always understood Dunn to offer some value as a platoon against RHP. I'm beginning to doubt that and I think Jordan Danks offers way more this season as a left handed bat with some pop, a much better average, plus defense, and decent speed. I'm so tired of seeing Dunn get AB's just because of his contract. Not worth it and I think he's actually going to become less valuable as the season goes along, but that's just a hunch based on how frustrated and lost he looks hacking at pitches in ST already. His bat speed looks slower than ever. I say we will make the mistake of keeping him around half the season and be forced to eat all of the remaining $ whether he is traded or DFA'd. He does look pretty terrible this spring. Worse than the last 3 -

I don't understand the logic in trying to save a couple million this year in a deal involving him. Its not like we will use the money saved this season. You're better off eating close to all amd getting the nest return possible. -
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 23, 2014 -> 10:17 AM) Webb and Cleto better get those last 2 bullpen spots over Purcey and Putnam I see Cleto making it over Putnam for sure but I wouldn't mind Purcey as a long reliever/third lefty in the pen considering we really don't have any long-reliever options left if both Webb and Cleto make it. Webb will be up by mid-season easily anyway.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 23, 2014 -> 07:40 AM) What are the options/rights for Cleto? I would rather have him than Veal on the roster. Or Petricka, for that matter, if it means losing Cleto. I guess with Boggs, if he doesn't make the team out of spring training (guaranteeing the $1.1 million contract), he'll become a free agent or possibly agree to stay at Charlotte if he's comfortable and the Sox think they can fix whatever ails him. Then there's Webb...whatever they do, please don't bring Dylan Axelrod north with the club as the long-man. Anything but THAT. Oh yeah I forgot Cleto. I guess I could see Jones, Lindstrom, Belisario, Downs, Veal, Cleto and then a long reliever (Petricka?Axelrod?)
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 22, 2014 -> 05:07 PM) Jones, Belisario, Lindstrom and Webb are clearly above him. From there, you need a long reliever, which would be Petricka IMO. Yep and also Downs and another lefty
