Rest of the way
What is everyone thinking about the remaining schedule and the Sox record over the final 19? I think that 12-7 is pretty doable. 2-0 @ PIT 2-1 vs DET 2-2 vs MIN 2-1 @ CIN 2-2 @ CLE 2-1 vs CHC

Sox vs Twins 9/2/2020 Lopez vs Berrios 7:10 CST
Pods by a lot. Everything Madrigal hits is a little dribbler.

Tonight is gonna make a bad situation worse. This pen was already spent and now they've got a full night of work in front of them.

How lucky are we that Detwiler joined us an out earlier than expected?!

Dane Dunning - Expectations now and going forward
I wanna say that it's something like 30% per season

Dane Dunning - Expectations now and going forward
Giolito was the worst starter in baseball as recently as 2018. I'm not suggesting that Cease will turn it around and receive Cy Young votes next season, but additional growth and development is basically a certainty for him.

Trade Watch Rumor
How dare he be an avid Sox supporter with a huge platform and an audience of 18-34 year olds?! I get that he's not everyone's cup of tea, but he's helping the Sox build a younger fanbase at a very exciting time for the team. He's a tried and true Sox fan just like any of us on here, he just found a way to make it his career.

Padres Acquire Clevinger per Multiple Reports
The Padres are really doing a number on their farm aren't they?

Realistic trade candidates AKA The Lynnsanity Thread
Who wouldn't want to acquire that?

Padres Acquire Clevinger per Multiple Reports
Then pull the trigger and don't think twice about it. Then the rotation becomes Giolito, Clevinger, Kopech, Kuechel, and Dunning through at least 2023.

Trade Watch Rumor
Can we PLEASE get all the trade rumor threads merged? Once a rumor has actually got some legs it can be broken off into its own thread but right now we have 3 different threads dedicated to general trade speculation.

I’d like Corbin Burnes

Realistic trade candidates AKA The Lynnsanity Thread
I'm aware. All I'm saying is that his transformation kinda came out of nowhere. And the fact that he signed a 3/30 deal with the Rangers speaks to that. It wasn't like the league was falling all over itself to give him the deal that Wheeler got. He got paid like a mid-rotation guy because that's what he had been for his entire career. If the Sox believe that his adjustments have truly made him a top of the rotation guy then they should go get him. All I'm saying is that it makes ME nervous. And I don't get a vote, I'm just along for the ride.

That's fair. I'm just typically a little leery of guys that "figure it out" all of a sudden. I have a tough time thinking that we should cough up multiple prospects for a year and a month of a guy that was a mid-rotation guy until last season.

Realistic trade candidates AKA The Lynnsanity Thread
This is exactly where I'm at. Lynn's having a career year at 33. Good for him, but it might be a bit of smoke and mirrors. His FIP is pretty close to being in line with his career average (which is good, but not ace level) and that's nearly 2 full runs higher than his ERA right now. I just can't believe how little people are expecting in return for 6 years of Kopech.

This sounds insane but I at least get it. Not crazy about losing Dunning but it takes a lot to pull off a deal like that.

Kopech
Has anyone (looking at you, insiders) heard anything about Kopech?

Sox vs St Louis Covids Game 1 8/15 thread, noon start
Remember when folks were excited about playing a team that had been off for 2 weeks?

Series v St. LOUIS
But why though? Not playing in games hasn't prevented anyone from being able to work out. They went through Summer Camp and already played a few games and it's not like starters around the league were only going 2-3 innings when the season first started. I don't know why the Cardinals rotation would be any different.
-
Positives?
I mean, you're not wrong. The tough part about that is that by the time he would typically be heating up, the season is going to be over. That's...not ideal.

2020 Draft: Day 2 Discussion
I'm out of the loop. What was the McDaniel rumor?
