That's pretty good not to mention his defense could very well get a lot better.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 07:17 PM) My fear is that RH finally talked JR into a rebuild, and JR reluctantly agreed but made it clear that it needs to not take very long. And thus RH may be constrained to try to make the team competitive in two years or something. You can't do what the Cubs did unless ownership is willing to buy into its GM' plans, even if those plans sound painful in the short term. I don't know man. I just know there needs to be patience and not push the envelope too early and try to contend too early. Let guys develop so when you do try to contend, they're ready. I think the Cubs WS helps the patience on the South Side.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 07:33 PM) Ok all, he tweeted like 3 conflicting things but he IS predicting Sale to Boston for Benintendi+ and a Frazier extension. He later corrected "would be surprised" to "wouldn't be surprised" Ok. I'm doing school work and just skimming twitter as I saw his original tweet. Thanks

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 07:35 PM) Yeah fooled me too. Many thanks to hi8is. All good. I expect more confusion if they start shipping players out lol.
-
QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 06:49 PM) Incorrect. He said he would expect a Sale / Boston deal to center around AB. https://twitter.com/barstoolwsd/status/796122487914369024 I thought that's what I saw. He f***ed his original tweet up so that began the confusion.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 06:29 PM) He actually said he would be surprised if it was centered around him. Oh ok I read it wrong then. I thought that was about Frazier extension Ken Rosenthal talked about on MLBN just now that he thinks "we know what the White Sox are going to do."
-
I'm very happy they have a direction and aren't playing with themselves while teams execute their off-seasons. I think I saw @whitesoxdave say he thinks the Sale to Boston deal will be centered around Benintendi.

Now that Hayes and Merkin are predicting it, I'm believing it. This is the right time. Execute the plan now Rick Hahn. Bring the Sox fans a new hope. A new beginning. Change that we can believe in and get behind. I'll always be appreciative of Sale, Q, Abreu and Eaton for their hard work and dedication. I'll probably shed a tear when Q is moved because he's my guy. Has been since his first start here. Gona miss ya Q!

The domino that could catapult the white sox into a fire sale

I'm ready boys! Hahn laying the groundwork in July and this week. -
The deadline helped value for relievers. If Boston wants just Jones, start with Devers.
-
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 11:58 AM) Nate Jones is far more valuable than Eduardo Rodriguez. See Giles, Ken. And Giles isn't good. Nate is.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 11:46 AM) No point until we know if we are buying or selling. Well my point was it would be an indicator if we knew but ya I got ya man.

Have we gotten anything on what the payroll will be?
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 10:48 AM) Honestly, if they are going into this as a full rebuild, they just need to get the best players they can. They can sort out the moving pieces in a few years, when we are ready to build our core again. They can always use a redundant piece to trade for something they need later. Totally agree. Just stockpile young talent. Look what NYY did at the deadline with just relievers.
-
I'm curious as to which player the Sox must have of the bunch. Devers is a must and so is Kopech. Devers gives us a legit power 3B and Kopech would give us another young top arm to go with Rodon, Fulmer, Burdi and Hansen. I know we wanted Benintendi last draft.
-
Benintendi, Devers, Kopech, Rodriguez, and someone else and I'd likely pull the trigger. If you add Nate Jones in the deal it's even bigger. I think Sale absolutely deserves Moncada in return but they seem hell bent on not giving him up.
-
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 08:47 AM) Granted, I believe it is posturing, if it isn't, why the f*** wouldn't you want Chris Sale in your rotation? Lol I can totally understand why. They have lots of great young talent. But Sale's price is what is is and it's not changing in a bare FA market.

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 11:43 PM) Sherman is my favorite baseball writer attached to a newspaper. Wholeheartedly agree. -
That would be absolutely stupid
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 11:10 PM) I wonder whether Eaton would be a good person to have around if you moved all these other pieces. That's interesting as well.
-
QUOTE (beautox @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 11:01 PM) Eaton is a tough call, he will be 28 by the start of opening day next year and is under contract if you max out his options for 5 years at 38.4 Mil, if you suspect he has a similar aging curve to say Alex Gordon his surplus value is nearly identical to Q if not a tick higher when taking into account both inflation and how his offseason is a sellers market. The only way he would get traded in my eyes would be something like Giolito and Robles from Washington. It makes sense for the nats since Werth is a FA after this year and is on the decline, and turner would be better served at SS so Eaton could split time between CF and LF and then move over when Werth is a FA or push Harper to left in the near future as well. The reason you wouldn't move him or Anderson or Rodon is because they could be a part of the next contending team in 3 years and he is a face of the franchise that appeals to the blue collar base. That's a good point
-
QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 09:06 PM) Just give me Barry Manilow straight up and I'm good. Ya but what's his WAR?
-
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 08:41 PM) Right... move him too. I used to think about saving only Tim Anderson and Carlos Rodon, but I'd ship them out too if the package was right. No one should be safe. NO. You don't trade Tim or Rodon. That's laughable. They're part of the young core. We drafted and developed both. You need home grown players. We could absolutely revamp this farm with young players by moving the likes of Sale, Q, Jones, Abreu, Frazier, Melky and Eaton. I'd keep Eaton, however, if someone gave you something too good to pass up you deal him as well.
-
QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 08:15 PM) We better be getting Moncada, Benintendi, and Devers if they are getting Nate Jones too. There's been talk Devers may be the best of the bunch. I want him in any deal. Moncada, Benintendi, Devers and Rodriguez or Kopech?
-
Here comes the posturing. Pucker up DD. You're cornered and we all know it. You're staff is NOT good enough as is. I truly believe it's Sale and a reliever. I prefer to keep Nate, however, if it can help us get a better return you absolutely do it. This deal will get done in the next month I honestly believe. I love Chris Sale, but a rebuild is what this organization needs to do.
