QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 04:18 PM) Dont think it makes much sense for the Yankees to give up prospects for Sale. They have an incredibly deep farm system now and no money on the books by 2018, they are in great shape. I just remember Joel Sherman mentioning it and then they loaded up on prospects.
-
As much as I dislike Boston, they're the team we need to pony up. I can see the Yankees even coming for Sale. Loaded up on talent and Sherman hinted as much, at the trade deadline.

The draft for me is more about later rounds and finding players there. That's where your scouting makes its mark.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 2, 2016 -> 03:23 PM) He is the thing that bothers me about that. This team has also largely historically struggled to develop prospects into major leaguers. Hopefully that's changing. We've had some guys come up and have success albeit with us and other teams (Semien, Thompson, Anderson, Sanchez). We develop pitching and rehab pitchers fairly well. I think with a full rebuild and continue to add talent to the system, we will be good in 3-4 seasons. Maybe even 2 years in a perfect world. This draft class was productive this season. Keep adding and stock piling talent and we're in business man.

QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Nov 5, 2016 -> 05:05 PM) My question is does anybody think trading Q + a smart signing or 2 of midtier free agents would get us into legit playoff contention? Or is it unrealistic to think a package of young players would lead to instant success? Like if we got Benintendi, Travis Shaw, and Eduardo Rodriguez (+a couple top prospects) + sign Jason Castro and Carlos Gomez would you feel comfortable going for a playoff run like that? Or don't sign anybody and keep trading guys off? Theoretically, it can be done. But ya have to trade Q to Boston for Benintendi, Kopech and Devers. Then ya have to spend real money and hope to hell these young pitchers are ready (Fulmer, Burdi) I just want to rebuild because that's best. I saw today we're interested in Bautista and Encarnacion. Also need to find a catcher. Rotation Sale Rodon Shields Fulmer Gonzalez or try and get another starter in free agency/trade (Also put Rodriguez here if ya swapped he and Kopech) Pen-The pen is what we need to spend big on and try to upgrade well. Burdi Petricka Putnam LHP Jones Holland? On rehab deal if possible but he's got plenty of suitors. Robertson-Could package him to Boston and sign Chapman to a big dea. Also look at Jansen. DH-Bautista/Encarnacion 1B-Abreu 2B-Lawrie 3B-Frazier SS-Anderson LF-Melky CF-Benintendi RF-Eaton 1. Eaton-RF 2. Benintendi-CF 3. Abreu-1B 4. Bautista/Encarnacion-DH 5. Frazier-3B 6. Melky-LF 7. Anderson-SS 8. Lawrie-2B 9. Catcher-Free Agency or trade (Castro/Wieters?) Not thrilled entirely with them. Or ya could try and get Vasquez from Boston in a trade. This is nice on paper but a lot to spend for a lighting in a bottle chance type season IMO. This isn't what I want. I want a full rebuild. Or you could trade Sale instead of Q and get a bigger return IF someone would pony up which I think Boston will do. This was just off the top of my head. -
Go Tribe. I can't stand the f***ing fanbase on the northside. Bunch of entitled douchebags. Haven't won s***. The media coverage only fuels that fire and frankly, f*** espn.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 24, 2016 -> 07:49 PM) If I'm trading with the Yankees and Sanchez is off the table, Sale and Quintana are off the table. He had a great rookie debut. They've had great years. THIS. Sanchez CANNOT be off the table.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Oct 22, 2016 -> 08:56 AM) That's true - but it's also true that the status quo won't get the Sox anywhere. I'll risk Hahn trading Sale for prospects or young players...he came up with Eaton so there is some history of competence. But my fear is that he trades Sale primarily for a veteran...and Hahn has a history of taking that bait when some team dabbles an ex all star in front of his nose. Hahn is better at trades than FA signings.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 19, 2016 -> 02:23 PM) I am putting it my living room. My wife is pissed. Can I come see it? -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 18, 2016 -> 01:19 PM) Like I said before, I think the Yankees are the team that will make the biggest push. That's the way Joel Sherman made it sound around the trade deadline when they were stockpiling prospects.
-
Would I rather have Benintendi or JBJ? Benintendi no question. Issue is should Benintendi headline the deal? I don't think so. I think Moncada needs to headline it. If they won't give up both, then I'd need Benintendi, Devers, Kopech, Rodriguez, Vazquez. I'm still not sure I'd do that. JBJ would at least give us one established veteran in return.

Chris Getz to take over player development

This f***ing franchise never fails to amuse me. -
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Oct 15, 2016 -> 06:17 PM) Nobody wants Melky, except in maybe a July pickup if he's having a good year. Like others said, Jones, or preferably Robertson. Huh? You say that like Melky is some scrub LOL Melky is the most consistent hitter on this team.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 15, 2016 -> 09:52 AM) Seems like promoting two development guys to the coaching staff in Capra & Hasler signals we'll be rebuilding next year. That's interesting. I saw the coaching staff news last night drunk and was just pissed off because it seems like this organization is too complacent.
-
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Oct 14, 2016 -> 12:11 PM) I think Severson is a good hitting coach. Look at what he's had to work with and look at how better guys in the minors are doing. Meh, no one's raved about him since the beginning of 2014. I didn't care about him nor Coop. It was bench coach and some others. I'm tired of this s***ty organization's complacency.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 14, 2016 -> 09:58 AM) This organization is a joke They really could give a f***. Guess what? So do I. I don't care about the White Sox anymore. Go ahead and suck ass for another year. I won't watch. f*** Jerry Reinsdorf.
-
God this organization can't hire new staff. This makes me shake my f***ing head. Can't wait till JR is dead.
-
Please give the go ahead on the rebuild Jerry. Let's get this started and do this the right way. We have two SPs that could reshape the franchise for years to come. I really think this rebuild starts and Renteria is good for it due to his experience with CHC and their rebuild. I believe in Hahn and his trades. He's done fairly well in identifying talent in trades.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 13, 2016 -> 11:37 AM) Asking for Nate Jones in a deal like that makes a ton of sense for Boston. Absolutely does. This deal makes a ton of sense.
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 12, 2016 -> 11:03 PM) If you could get Moncada, Benintendi, Kopech and Swihart for Sale and Melky, do you do it? Devers instead of Swihart and yes.
-
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 01:44 PM) I think the only reason you hand the job to Renteria is to let him guide you through a rebuild the way he did for the Cubs. Then when you are ready to compete again you go get the guy you really want. I'm starting to feel this way. I'm really curious to see what they do with their coaching staff.
-
I'm dying to see Hahn execute a rebuild. I just feel like his hands are tied with upper management and ownership on budget restraints and moves. I'm really hoping they let Hahn rebuild and since they're loyal to their management and managers, they can let Renteria develop these young kids. I just don't want to see another half-assed off-season.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 05:20 PM) With Anderson graduated and no other position players on the cusp, the Sox need to add youth to the lineup. I am with you on best group of players, but acquiring 1 or 2 MLB players brings immediate value while decreasing and diversifying risk. Plus, part of Boston's allure is their relative surpluses. They'd probably rather include some MLB guys rather than just strip the top of their farm completely. Agree wholeheartedly. It's a fun debate for sure but they definitely don't want to wipe out their farm. Including a guy like JBJ helps ease having to use all of the farm and depending on the deal they could slide Benintendi in JBJs spot theoretically.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 02:19 PM) lol, apparently the Boston front office was up early this morning writing propaganda. If they had no interest in these guys because of their six starters, they wouldn't have been sniffing around them three months ago. GMAB. Add to that a first round sweep, and the pressure goes UP on them to make a move, not down. Lol no kidding. Good luck with that rotation again.
