  1. Abreu's down year has really been one of the most important issues with this team this year IMO. If he was having a great season, this team would be much better off.
  2. Only his first game at AAA but good to see Engel starting fast. He struggled at AA early on before being demoted and then brought back up. Collins won't be a full time catcher if he sticks. I hope they can develop another one so he doesn't have to take the beating. Good outing Danish. Call is a gamer. Color me intrigued about Peter. I've been paying close attention to him. Maybe Lawrie's replacement if we move him this year or next.
  3. Abreu is swinging at s*** Avi swings at. Can't believe he's still swinging at that s*** down and away. What a f***ing pathetic AB for Abreu. Just get the season over with and forget about this one buddy.
  4. @darenw Tim Anderson's HR was hit 107.6 MPH and projected at 442ft... Holy s***
  5. Just so disappointed in Navarro this season. What a disaster. Avila is what I thought he'd be. Decent with some DL stints.
  6. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 18, 2016 -> 09:35 PM) The HR's he's hit were unexpected and his D is passable in CF . He's run some down particularly that one in Boston at the 420 sign. A lot better than I thought he'd be. He's more than serviceable as a 4th OF.
  7. Ya know I wasn't favorable towards that pick but son of a b**** what a shot. Hopefully he's a gamer and turns into a stud.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 18, 2016 -> 09:20 PM) Davidson was just put on the 60 day DL. He's out for an extended period of time. September at least. I hope he can at least comeback and get some ABs but don't rush the broken foot. Those can be tricky.
  9. Shuck up now. I'm very pleased with how he's played considering the circumstances.
  10. I just don't enjoy Hawk at all anymore. Bout time Avi at least gets a hit. I'm amazed his average is above 200
  11. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 18, 2016 -> 09:22 PM) I'd pass for Chris Sales dad I'm as tall and built the same. LOL This is what sale needs to do all the time. Say f*** it and dominate. He HAS to pitcher better against central oppponents as well if this team is ever going to go anywhere
  12. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 18, 2016 -> 09:19 PM) Me neither but I played a ton of baseball with a rubber ball as a kid and softball too until I was 50. Never little league but that didn't stop me from trying out as a freshman in HS. Dad put an end to that since I was also playing basketball and had an unacceptable C in biology so had to quit before I got cut. I played a lot with friends but never for a team. Basketball was my sport until high school when I quit growing and was too damn small lol and was cut. (I'm 5'4" like Ken Rosenthal )
  13. Just starting this game. Good lord the ball jumps off Tim's bat. Love this kid.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 18, 2016 -> 09:12 PM) Anderson has to be a tougher out than that. Looked like one of us if we got an at bat It'd be a lot worse than that for me...I've never played organized baseball
  15. This teams best window for a World Series may be in fact 2018 and 2019 with the right development and moves. Sale, Q, Rodon (hopefully developing), Fulmer (hopefully developing) and maybe Hansen (if he can get his control and command in check. Certainly has the potential). Build the pen (front end-guys like Danish, Guerrero, Beck, some free agents. Back end-Jones, Burdi, Robertson). The back end could be different obviously. We could even move a guy like Q to try and expedite the process and add young talent. Fill his spot with development or acquisition. Then develop the bats and make some acquisitions via trade or free agency. Eaton RF Engel CF Anderson SS (I think he'll be a middle of the order bat by then) Abreu DH Collins 1B Frazier (if they extend him) 3B/1B Lawrie 2B (he's been what I thought he'd be so team friendly extension would be worth it possibly) Reddick LF Catcher (FA/trade or development) If it's still a disaster then, blow it up. But that may be the season they're for real if things break their way. This is my feeling optimistic post. I'm sure someone will tell me I'm crazy or wrong. Thought a lot about this last night.
  16. Love me some Timmy bombs. Sad that Anderson has as many HRs as Avi and has played a lot less. I really would send Avi to AAA to see if they can fix him. Likely not but worth a shot. 17. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 18, 2016 -> 06:54 PM) Oh they would do it. Trading Chris Sale is tricky because the compensation you need to get really needs to blow people away. Anything less and your going to be heavily criticized. Atleast with Q there's a limit you could see. It's just hard finding a team that would give a kings ransom.
  18. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 10:07 PM) Plenty of players and teams pass on home run derby. How do you know it has no bearing? Pure coincidence he tanked last year after the HRD? 4 days of rest can't possibly help a ballplayer in a year long funk? Especially when the alternative is a high energy game? Really? I Dont know if there is causation- but there's a lot of correlation. I don't hold any bitterness toward Frazier as I never thought he as anything special. He hasn't overly disappointed me. But you might look in the mirror on the bitterness front. My wishful thinking was it'd loosen him up and make him play better.
  19. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 09:48 PM) I don't know who thinks it will happen, but I know that it should happen THIS
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 10:42 PM) It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize things haven't worked out very well in the Robin era. That'd be funny if after we get eliminated in early September the Sox dominate the rest of the month and he stays again, lol. It'll be hard to fire him if they rattle off 10-12 wins in a row to end the season. No it wouldn't. Would be meaningless winning stretch.
  21. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 09:03 PM) I'm guessing not. If there ever was he would have been traded before this season. I disagree because the Shelby Miller deal threw things out of whack value wise for pitchers IMO.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 09:09 PM) Sell. I've already bored everybody with my list of players to dump. I will summarize and quickly add. ... • Package Frazier and Robertson this week. Get this ball rolling. • Trade Shields and get a TON for him. He could be very very valuable to a contender. Get it done soon. Before we're settling for scraps. • Trade Melky but rob somebody blind. Get good players for Melky Cabrera!!! NL to the Giants or somebody. • Trade both catchers ASAP. Try to get a young reliever in both deals. Somebody might want Navarro for pinch hitter or experience down the stretch. • Trade Lawrie and Duke in a package. Try to get a couple guys who are under 25. Don't settle. Somebody will want Lawrie and Duke. • Trade Avi to an NL team where he can try again. Get what you can. • Trade Shuck. I've probably forgotten some. TRADE TRADE TRADE. Keep Eaton, Abreu, Sale, Q. I wouldn't be against keeping Shields either. Sale, Q, Rodon, Shields is a decent four for next season.
  23. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 07:53 PM) I would sell Frazier and DRob personally. I think you could get a valuable piece for both and I don't see either in the long term plans. Agreed. Giving Frazier a $100 million wouldn't be good for this team.
  24. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 07:05 PM) 2016 fWAR: Corey Seager 4.0 Mookie Betts 3.7 Jackie Bradley 3.4 Jose Quintana 2.9 Chris Sale 2.6 Why in the world would playoff contenders trade those hitters for Quintana or Sale? It could actually make their team worse. Because Sale and Quintana are two of the most valuable controllable arms in all of baseball and left handed for that matter. Their value is insane. Maybe I'm overrating them but the package would be insane for Chris Sale.
