  1. He won't win it, but his last 7 outings including tonight have been awesome. At a time when most rookies pitchers hit the wall he is performing his best. 48 2/3 IP. 9 ER. 33 H. 16 BB. 45 K. 1.66 ERA. 1.00 WHIP. 8.32 K/9.
  2. At his current season rates with 9 starts left he would be on pace for 289.39 K's. He averages 6.84057 IP per start this season. He also averages 1.32204 K per IP. 9 starts x 6.84057 IP/Start x 1.32204 K/IP = 81.39156. He is at 208 K's currently.
  3. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 17, 2015 -> 11:42 PM) He leaves guys on every night yet he has to play do not get it at all. But have you seen his pitch framing, I hear it's amazing.
  4. QUOTE (harkness @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 09:50 PM) at the time of the trade deadline he wasn't really doing that great and I'm guessing we weren't getting offered enough. He was doing fine just prior to the trade deadline. In his 10 starts prior to the trade deadline he had gone at least 7 innings in every one. In his last 9 starts he had the following line: 68 IP, 54 H, 12 BB, 21 R, 2.78 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, 48 K, 4:1 K:BB, 6.35 K/9. In 3 of his last 5 starts prior to the deadline he went at least 7 2/3 IP and gave up 4 or less Hits and 1 ER or less. He is a very streaky pitcher it seems. Last June prior to being traded to the A's his June looked like this: 1-3 5.45 ERA, 33 IP, 40 H, 20 ER. I will agree with you on the maybe we weren't offered enough, so we said no thanks. I do think some other GM will try to sign him this offseason and we should get a comp pick. If you were Samardzija would you take a 1 year deal at $15 and hope you have a great season or a 4 year deal at $52 total. I know I would take the 4 year deal. If that happens I have no issue that we kept him around if we didn't like the potential return for him as a rental. Is that comp pick worth more than what we gave up to the A's though?
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 03:43 PM) Next time we get a DH, we might want to find a hitter actually accustomed to and comfortable sitting on the bench or simply junk it for the rotating/resting 4-5 guys idea... We have a DH for the foreseeable future, his name is Jose Abreu. He has a career .916 OPS as a DH, and .917 OPS as a 1B.
  6. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 12, 2015 -> 11:29 PM) Stupid call by Robin but it worked There was a good chance Tyler was going to strike out anyways.
  7. Adams tonight 7 IP 4 H 0 BB 4 K. Last 10 starts 58 IP, 15 ER, 4 BB ,45 K, 59 H. 1.09 WHIP 6.98 K/9
  8. Including tonight's 1/2 2B and 2 RBI, in Melky's last 60 games he has a .323/.366/.517 line. .883 OPS. 27 R, 41 RBI, 23 2Bs, 2 3Bs, 6 HRs.
  9. Since the All-Star break the Sox have an OPS over .800 now. Pre-All Star break we were dead last in the majors at an OPS of .649.
  10. QUOTE (Dunt @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 01:13 PM) I'm selfishly hoping that the Sox end up getting a protected pick, receive a comp pick for Samardzija, sign Heyward, and then still have 2 high picks in the first two rounds of this next draft. Other than some kind of miraculous 39-14 finish down the stretch and making the playoffs (not gonna happen) this would be the best thing to happen to the Sox for this season. We are 5 games up on a potential top 3 pick right now. Bring Up Erik Johnson and go to 6 starters to save some wear and tear on Sale and Q for the long run. Bring up Micah Johnson (have him DH if need be) when healthy and let the kids play. See what we might have in the system that can help win next year. If we could get a top 5 pick (take BPA), a comp pick for Samardzija in the top 30 overall pick range, and only lose a 2nd rounder for the 2016 draft because we signed a top young free agent at a weakness for the team, I would be happy as hell.
  11. Spencer Adams last 7 starts: 41 1/3 IP, 10 ER, 42 H, 2.18 ERA, 35 K, 3 BB. 1.09 WHIP, 7.62 K/9, 11.67 K:BB. 1 of those starts was at A+.
  12. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 10:55 PM) Adolfo got hurt at a play at the plate. Holding his ankle, had to get carried off the field. Zangari 2-3 BB Corey Zangari's 1st 19 games: 1 BB, 24 K's. Zangari's last 11: games 6 BB, 7 K's. Right now he has an .818 OPS in AZ as an 18 year old, and is tied for 5th in HRs.
  13. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 03:24 PM) I just want to see some one other than Avisuck. I will add that I would like to see Soto play today instead of Flowers. Especially if Flowers will be catching tomorrow when Sale pitches. Tyler Flowers had a terrific July 217/229/290 518 OPS. 0 BB 26 K in 70 PA. Soto in July had only 27 PA. 316/519/875 1413 OPS. 8 BB to 5 K. Clearly Tyler Flowers deserves more chances than Soto.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 03:21 PM) Between last night with DJ on the radio and Stone right there on TV, the Sox announcers are being openly critical of Avi's approach at the plate. That last at bat by Avi was a complete s*** show.
  15. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 10:02 AM) How about picking him up to play third? .296/.331/.506 slashline. At the very least, platoon piece at third or DH. Valencia has a career line against LHP of 326/368/497 with an 864 OPS. 16 HR 91 RBI in 586 ABs. The Sox as a team this year against LHP have a line of 235/282/336 for an MLB worst OPS of 618. So yes he would be very valuable addition for us as a batter against LHP.
  16. Would it be possible to package Samardzija, Avi, and a prospect(s) for Puig? Would we want to do that? I know I would. I would like our OF and lineup a lot better. Melky, Eaton, Puig in the OF. Eaton, Puig, Melky, Abreu is a nice 1-4.
  17. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 06:54 PM) Thanks Danks for giving up the lead just like that you bum. Webb better be up here shortly Can we just bring up Erik Johnson regardless if we trade Samardzija or not and move Danks to the pen?
  18. When is the last time a team has had 2 triples to lead off a game?
