  1. With the bat Adam Eaton has been steadily getting better as the season has gone on after a terrible start. Eaton April/March 19 G .192 Avg .241 OB% .256 SLUG% .497 OPS .234 BABIP 7 R May 26 G .262 Avg .325 OB% .402 SLUG% .727 OPS .302 BABIP 20 R June 25 G .276 Avg .355 OB% .459 SLUG% .814 OPS .316 BABIP 13 R July 20 G .267 Avg .375 OB% .453 SLUG% .828 OPS .315 BABIP 14 R From May 1st until July 25th, Eaton has scored 47 runs in 71 games. At that pace over a full season of 162 games that would be 107 runs. It's also nice to see this isn't due to some inflated BABIP.
  2. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 09:56 PM) He's also had a plus 4 ERA like all year. I like him he's just not been as advertised. Now he's 3.91 due to his hot streak lately. I would t be opposed to signing him in the offseason I've just been frustrated with him. In his last 8 starts he has pitched fairly well. 60 IP, 47 H, 11 BB, 45 K, 17 ER, 2.55 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, 4.09 K:BB, 6.75 K/9. He is currently 19th in WAR among pitchers on Fangraphs for the season. He has also gone at least 7 innings in 12 of his last 13 starts. If we can't get a good prospect in return for him, I see no reason to trade him. Just take the compensation pick at the end of the 1st round to go with our Top 10 pick. Here are your pitchers ahead of Samardzija in WAR, only 4 on that list besides him that are available. Max Scherzer Clayton Kershaw Corey Kluber Chris Sale Dallas Keuchel Zack Greinke Jake Arrieta David Price Chris Archer Jacob deGrom Sonny Gray Clay Buchholz Gerrit Cole Michael Pineda Lance Lynn Carlos Carrasco Tyson Ross Johnny Cueto Jeff Samardzija
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 03:02 PM) Erik Johnson should be in the rotation within the next week. He's 100% earned the shot. Since they're not going to eat the money on Danks, Danks can start in the rotation next year and then Carson takes his place sometime early in the year assuming the normal White Sox like progression. That's when Danks finally moves to the bullpen and we near the end. It's still not a very competitive roster since Rodon will be a still-learning sophomore and there will be a rookie and a rookie and a half, but you give the guys a chance to pitch through their difficulties as youngins for the next season+ and maybe, just maybe, by 2017 we have a really strong rotation where everyone is young and still has a good amount of experience. In 2017 we could have an entire rotation 28 or younger and under team control through 2019. Chris Sale 28, $12 million. Under control through 2019. Jose Quintana 28, $7 million. Under control through 2020. Carlos Rodon 24, $660 K?. Under control through 2021. Erik Johnson 27 $660 K? Under control through 2020. Carson Fulmer 23 $660 K? Under control through 2022. In 2017 the bullpen could also still consist of Robertson, Duke, Nate Jones, Putnam, Petricka, Jennings, Webb, Montas, Danish and any others we chose to add. Pitching appears to be in good shape for the future. There is no need for Jeff Samardzija in the rotation costing $12 mill + a year. There will also be no more $15.75 mill from John Danks in there. We need to trade Samardzija (not for scraps but something or take the comp pick) and give Johnson and Rodon chances to grow the rest of this season and next so we can see what we have for the next couple of years. If they can't handle it we need to look for another solution in the rotation.
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 01:46 PM) Since it's a DH, are they just calling him up to cover this game? He hasn't pitched all that well in Kanny.. His last 3 games have been good. 18 1/3 IP, 20 H, 1 BB, 3 ER 12 K. 1.48 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 12:1 K:BB.
  5. Nice. C'mon Avi! 2/6 off Holland in his career make it 3/7
  6. LOL at the dude with no shirt on, on the homer
  7. In his last 12 starts Sale has the following stats: 92 IP 56 H 13 BB 131 K 18 ER WHIP 0.75 ERA 1.76 K/9 12.81 BB/9 1.27 K:BB 10.07 The Sox are 8-4 in those starts.
  8. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 07:16 PM) Will be interesting to see how the Cubs and Astros draft when they are no longer picking inside the top 10. Then we will see just how good their scouting is. The organization that impressed me most is the Cardinals. They have not picked higher than 19th over all since 2008 when they picked 13th and yet here they are still developing major league talent year after year. The Cardinals also have had 5 of the top 59 picks in the 2012 draft, 3 of the top 57 picks in the 2013 draft, 2 of the top 34 picks in the 2014 draft, and 2 of the top 39 in the 2015 draft. The Sox in that time frame had 2 of the top 48 picks in the 2012 draft (Hawkins and Barnum), 2 of the top 55 in 2013 (Anderson and Danish), 2 of the top 44 in 2014 (Rodon and Adams), and 1 pick in the 1st 3 rounds of the 2015 draft in Fulmer. Since 2012 the Cardinals have had 12 picks in the top 60 of MLB drafts, the Sox have had 7 in that same time frame. That also helps the Cardinals quite a bit, not to mention their scouting and development are good. St. Louis is 106 games over .500 since 2011, the Sox are 56 games under .500 in that time.
  9. Why isn't Kottaras with Soto on the big league club? I know it is a small sample size but 313/470/569 1.039 OPS this year. 16 BB to 18 K.
  10. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 08:51 AM) Why is Hoffman a ridiculous return for a quality major league starter at the deadline? QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 08:58 AM) I think Hoffman is a future ace. The White Sox might have taken Hoffman over Rodon had he been healthy last year. They were big fans of his. He's going to be a front of the rotation starter. Would be a great return. Jeff Hoffman 1st start after Tommy John
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 01:26 PM) Crede for me I'd go with Rowand from the 98 draft as the last good one.
  12. Is Flowers going to do anything other than K here to end the game?
  13. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 12, 2015 -> 08:53 PM) Nothing that is my point Sox think Flowers is just fine. How can they think he is fine? He is beyond awful.
  14. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 12, 2015 -> 08:48 PM) Flowers is LOVED by Sox management they do not think they have ANY issue at Catcher That frankly scares the hell out of me as a fan. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 12, 2015 -> 08:49 PM) Honestly, I think if Hahn can acquire a starting catcher he'll keep Soto as the backup over Flowers. What exactly does Flowers do to deserve a job? Why not bring up George Kottaras and DFA Flowers? Platoon Soto and Kottaras.
  15. Chris Sale last 6 starts: 46 2/3 IP, 24 H, 7 BB, 7 ER, 67 K. 12.92 K/9. 9.57 K:BB. 0.66 WHIP.
  16. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 06:18 PM) Soooo who do we want? BPA
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 08:22 PM) Flowers homer time hopefully I know you are joking, but look at his splits coming into the game tonight (currently 0-2): Tie Game: 172/273/207 480 OPS 1 Run Game: 200/246/292 539 OPS 2 Run Game: 188/235/263 498 OPS 3 Run Game: 196/237/283 520 OPS 4 Run Game: 196/235/278 514 OPS Margin > 4 : 263/300/632 932 OPS
  18. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 11:04 PM) Seems like he has only pitched in three games this trip. Robertson last pitched May 29th. Why would you want him to pitch in a pressure situation with the game on the line?
  19. Counting tonight's 7 IP 3 H 2 BB 13 K 0 R performance in Sale's last 5 starts he has done this: 38 2/3 IP 19 H 6 BB 53 K 6 ER. 0.65 WHIP 12.34 K/9. 8.83 K:BB.1.40 ERA.
  20. Hopefully he gives Sale that call all night. If so I really like our chances up 4-0 already.
  21. Spencer Adams last 3 starts: 17 2/3 IP, 14 H, 4 BB, 13 K, 2 R, 1 HR. 1.02 ERA, 1.02 WHIP. Not bad for a 19 year old in A ball.
