  1. I enjoy a Coca Cola about once a week. I'm a believer in shared experiences and, like it or not, Coca Cola is one of our shared experiences here in America. Problem is I only enjoy it out of aluminum cans or glass bottles, plastic bottles make it absolutely disgusting particularly in hot weather. I imagine it'll only be sold at the Cell in plastic bottles.
  2. Jack's frozen pizza with liberally applied hot sauce (whichever variety) isn't bad. The way I prepare my Jack's it is not much more than a hot sauce delivery mechanism, and it performs that role admirably. As for LC's, it's definitely garbage but my point is that its mostly identical to Papa Johns while costing about half as much. You just have to pick it up which creates a paradox, if I'm drunk enough to enjoy LC's at any meaningful level I'm also too drunk to drive (and likely have been for a few hours). Also, it says something that I would rather support Detroit Tiger's ownership than John Schnatter.
  3. Uh does Baltimore even have a rotation?
  4. Notes on Pizza: Beggars is good but expensive. The only time I eat is at the park because at least I expect to pay crazy prices at the Cell. Papa Johns offers pizza that is fundamentally identical to Little Ceasers at twice the price of Lil C's. There is no reason to order Papa Johns unless youre too intoxicated to pick it up
  5. A successful season would redeem him from the most hated to merely afterthought, but if they suck this year I think you're right. I feel a deep, primal hatred for LaRoche that I usually only reserve Cubs or talentless Twins players who kill the Sox.
  6. Rizzo isn't under 26, and Schwarber is a DH who has problems with lefties playing in the wrong league. Russell was a nightmare offensively. Bryant, sure OK. The Cubs could easily have a very young Matt Stairs and Royse Clayton, Troy Glaus and a good 1B closing in on age 30. Or the 27 Yankees. We'll see which one they wind up being closer to.
  7. Aside from Bryant who are all the young stars? The Cubs got 97 wins last year because their entire pitching staff blew out even the most outrageous expecations.
  8. No idea. The AL is wide open, everyone is going for it except maybe Oakland (but Beane could be going for it and we just dont know it yet). This is maybe the best the AL has been top-to-bottom in my lifetime, there are going to be a lot of teams with good rosters who are less than .500 after this year.
  9. I hate the Cubs even when they're bad, I hate them when they are good. The rage that drives my hate is not underlying, but boils right up to the surface with pride.
  10. J4L said the Heat had a chance at going 82-0 after they got LeBron.
  11. Dude they got beaten so thoroughly, one of the most lopsided series in MLB postseason history, that I dont think home field would've made any difference. The Mets absolutely bamboozled them.
  12. Many of you act mature and above the crosstown s***flinging, but I dont. This may be one of those years that comes around so rarely where I root more against the Cubs than I do for the Sox. Let the hate flow through you.
  13. I laughed out loud at the news. Kenny gets his man once again!
  14. Oh good I'm glad he's doing Snapfit, he'll be on the DL all year with back problems. At least he wont be playing.
  15. If there is one thing about advanced metrics I do not like it is how they have just crushed the imaginations of fans. 90 wins isn't that far fetched for this roster, just as 70 wins isn't that far fetched either. This goes for every team in the game. There will be multiple WS favorites who fail to make the playoffs this year, there will be multiple annual doormats who get a ticket to the dance instead. It's hard to tell who those teams will be, but the Sox have a rotation that makes it impossible to deny their chances.
  16. Anderson may need a year, but unless Saladino lights the world on fire he has until about June.
  17. Are the Sox really open to the idea Anderson opening the season at SS? Because that's what the tone of this thread implies.
  18. What is the actual population of Bedford Park? Isn't it basically an industrially zoned town?
  19. Sure would be nice if there was some young breakout potential at positions like SS, 2B and RF. Maybe a few flaws, but potential to turn a negative into a positive. Some ideas: The Dodgers have a bunch of OF, why not grab Trayce Thompson? He's at least a good defender. They also have Micah Johnson, might be useful to get a LH bat in a lineup that feature Adam LaRoche as its premier LH bat. Also, Oakland's got this SS, not so good with the glove but he can hit. I think his name is Semien?
  20. He got a 3 year deal, exactly what the Sox were said to be offering.
