  1. Anderson will either be traded at the deadline or playing in Chicago this season.
  2. Yes? They seem to have grabbed a guy who is everything Harrelson isnt. Unless you liked the Yaz stories? I didn't. I think you'd be the only one. This is the video posted in his Twitter bio, by the way: https://youtu.be/9ZlBUglE6Hc
  3. Seeing as he's 32 I'm guessing there won't be too many Yaz stories from his playing days.
  4. LaRoche and Danks come off the books in a year. Next year's free agent class is very bad. Sox spending next year's added payroll flexibility now isn't far fetched at all.
  5. Cespedes will sign by the end of the week. The Sox always wait until the deal seems dead to finally pull the trigger.
  6. I'm personally more worried about Melky falling off a cliff than Avi not improving at all.
  7. My source says that when I win the power ball tomorrow night I'll pay for Cespedes.
  8. Zimmerman OUT at CBS Radio. Shakeups obviously coming.
  9. Fowler and Upton are complementary, Cespedes is transformative. Just ask the Mets or the A's.
  10. BTW I'd rather have Fowler than Upton. Cespedes is a tier above those guys and doesn't cost a pick. Same story it's been for the past few weeks.
  11. Lawrie got on base .030 more than Sanchez last year. Frazier is a similar improvement over whatever that was playing 3B last year. Not to mention the vast improvement at C and departure of my beloved, but very bad at getting on base, Alexei. Just because guys don't have a .350+ OBP doesn't mean they cannot be improvements.
  12. If prices go down much the Sox will find themselves competing with new teams who suddenly will find Gordon/Cespedes worth it. Not saying it's a bad idea to get a good price, but there comes a point where the certainty of grabbing an OF at higher price than absolutely optimal is better than the increasing risk that someone else swoops in.
  13. If you look in the mirror and say Lew Ford three times somewhere in the world a shallow pop fly will land right between the 2nd baseman and right fielder with runners on 2nd and 3rd and 2 outs.
  14. Scott Carroll also didn't mentally collapse and disappear for a year after getting ran out of the majors immediately after his first call up.
  15. Scott Carroll did well last year. Maybe I was the only one watching (I don't blame anyone who tuned out) but he had a lot of good outings as the long man. I'm not convinced Erik Johnson sucks or anything, but Carroll has at least shown he can compete at the ML level whereas EJ has not.
  16. Unless the Sox see something specific in Fister they can turn around I don't get it. I'd rather have Carroll starting games than Turner, Fister and maybe even Erik Johnson. But I like Scott Carroll more than most.
  17. If all goes well the Sox should easily eclipse that number in 2016.
  18. There will be days where Frazier DH's and Lawrie plays the field. Is it obvious to anyone else that the Sox are going to use the DH position to keep guys fresh?
  19. If the Sox are using the media to influence negotiations they are obviously pretty close and are pulling out all the stops to get the right deal.
  20. My guess is Cespedes wants 5 years and the Sox want 4 years. It's a good sign that they are playing media games and Abreu is "recruiting." It means the Sox really want him and aren't just going to walk away like they did with Tanaka. Kenny gets his man, remember that.
  21. Jimmy Rollins is probably tired of baseball after playing 37 games a day in 2015.
  22. Contracts go up over time. Fans, particularly Cubs fans, love sentimental crap like taking less money. Heyward exploited both to his advantage which is smart.
