  1. Of those 3 locations the United Center area would be the best and Soldier Field shouldn’t even be in the mix.
  2. We went to a game there back in 1978 and I’ve never understood the fascination with that stupid ballpark, some horrible sight lines, cramped seating and nothing beautiful about it, it’s old so I guess that makes it special, Wrigley Field is a much better ballpark.
  3. Nice victory today, I’m one who doesn’t want to see 100 losses. We’ve had enough embarrassment this year and losing 100 games is embarrassing as it gets.
  4. Radar right now showing rain all over the northeast, I don’t see a game being played in Boston today.
  5. Only Benintendi and Grandal have more walks than AV, this is a team refuses to take walks while constantly swinging at balls outside the zone, it’s last in the league in BBs and last in OBP.
  6. The way this season has gone it seems like it would be more like 12 games.
  7. The Brewers just scored 12 runs in the second inning against the Marlins, how many games does it take our Sox to score 12 runs.
  8. Kopech had a cyst removed from his knee and is now on the IL, hopefully we will never see him again in a Sox uniform.
  9. 9-22-59, A very special day in my youth, I almost hit the ceiling in our living room as my parents and I were watching the game on WGN when Little Looie fielded a Vic Power grounder stepped on second and threw to Big Klu for the double play and my boyhood heroes had won the 1959 American League Pennant. A few minutes later the air raid sirens went off all across the city, this 13 year old knew exactly why they were going off but thousands and thousands of Chicagoans were scared out of their minds thinking that we were going to get nuked by the Russians. I even knew that Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev was visiting the USA at the time and there was no way the USSR was going to nuke the country, IIRC Khrushchev had visited Disneyland in California that afternoon. 10 days later my favorite uncle was able to get tickets to game 2 of the World Series and took my mother and me to the game in which the Sox lost a 4-3 heartbreaker to the Dodgers
  10. I’d go with your first 3 but send Eloy packing, he’s not even a good DH and can’t play the outfield, Kopech Is a head case and should be traded, let some other team put up with his issues. I also think Benintendi will bounce back next year with a a healthy wrist, I’ve had golf related wrist injuries and they take quite a time to heal. Back to DH, I like how the Rays rotate just about the whole lineup with athletic type players at DH, of course they all can hit. That is the model the Sox should be looking at and I like what Getz said a couple weeks ago about the Sox needing to be more athletic which also means faster.
  11. There are a lot more things worse than that with this bunch but Benintendi has been a big disappointment.
  12. I wish they’d shut him down so we don’t have to see his lame act in a Sox uniform any longer.
  13. Harry had the Sunshine Boys figured out after only 1 year. It took me until 1983.
  14. Harry and Jimmy would have raked TA over the coals and it would have been well deserved, no one has called out anybody on this team and someone should have. I know we here at Soxtalk have spent countless hours analyzing the horrific play of the 2023 White Sox but damn it’s unbelievable that this team can be this bad, day after day we are seeing stuff that I didn’t think we would ever see from a Major League team.
  15. Ugly game so far with Anderson and Moncada making errors. Nats up 4-1. Please trade TA in the off-season. Will this season ever end.
  16. Let’s hope he has an epiphany.
  17. I can’t remember exactly how many extra inning games we played against the A’s in Oakland in 1972 but it seemed like a lot as I stayed up late losing a lot of sleep watching or listening to those games, they were really exciting games and a good pennant race which maybe could have been won by the Sox if Melton hadn’t hurt his back in June as he was out for the rest of the year.
  18. Not the ones we have now except for maybe Clevinger who when pitching is busting his butt, Andrus cares and I wouldn’t mind keeping him but only as a utility guy. I’m hoping for a bunch of new guys with a culture of hustling and winning. The first thing Getz has to do is find those kind of players and I hope he can trade for them or sign some free agents with those same attributes.
  19. I knew that but as I stated before was irate along with thousands of retirees who wanted to live out the rest of their lives being able to see their favorite team in Spring Training in Sarasota. At least we get to see them on their annual series in Tropicana Field which BTW will be replaced in 2028 by a new stadium a few blocks away, an announcement is being made today and with from what I just read in the paper the Rays will pick up half of the billion dollar cost.
  20. It is a mystery because Tampa and St. Pete have a great history of Spring Training going back many decades. Sox trained in Tampa before their move to Sarasota in the early 60s. Still pisses me off and the thousands of Chicago retirees who moved to Sarasota to see the Sox in ST but JR being the jerk he is moves ST to AZ.
  21. He’s right in a way as they can’t compete with the current cast of characters. I would be ecstatic if they could get close to .500 next year with guys that hustled and cared.
  22. And no team has taken fewer walks or has a lower OBP than the Sox.
  23. Rays owner Strernberg has always wanted a stadium near downtown Tampa but has never been able to strike a deal.
  24. I’m almost to the point of not worrying about anything White Sox related.
  25. The Lightning and the Bucs draw very well as they are located in Tampa which is where the majority of the people in the metro area live, that and St. Pete is a ghost town from May through the holidays. There’s also a populated area east of St. Pete which if people want to go to Rays games either going north or especially south have to go pretty far out of the way what with the Bay itself in the way. Bottom line is that geography does play a big part with the Rays attendance problems.
