1967 was a heartache year for older Sox fans. -

Agree. The Cards also had a guy named Bob Gibson who won 3 games in the last 12 of the season. -

And the Yankees fired Yogi and hired Keane. 1964 was also the year the Sox won their last 10 games and finished 1 game behind the Yanks. -

Always a chance, the 1964 Cardinals were 6.5 behind the Phillies with 14 left to play and won the Pennant, they also went on to beat the Yankees in the WS. I'm not holding my breath. -

They were still doing OK though they should have swept the Tigers but then the Guards came to Chicago for the biggest series of the year and we met a team that is hungrier and plays the game much better than the Sox with a better manager than Cairo or deranged TLR. -
This team mailing it in tonight and it's very possible they don't finish over .500 for the year, actually I'm thinking much worse.

Good article but what most of us knew all along, this started after the 2021 All Star game. A lot of blame has to go to Hahn as he did nothing last off season to fill the holes in RF and second base and then did absolutely nothing to improve the team at the trading deadline. The pickup of Andrus was a good thing but was not enough. I'm sure Hahn's hands are tied by JR. That brings us to the players themselves, we have a team with some players with character flaws and who sometimes lack intensity, how many times this season has someone on this board brought up the fact that the team seemed like they just didn't care and failed to hustle. Someone in the front office is going to have to look long and hard at some of the players and if they are honest with their evaluations we could see some trades of guys that we thought would be fixtures on the Southside for many years. IMHO there are not too many untouchables on the team right now. And of course one of the biggest blunders in his 42 years of so many blunders was JR hiring TLR as manager, I hated the move at the time and still hate it, what's there to like. If TLR is brought back next year, I can see a scenario where the fans revolt and stay away from GRF.

A sweep or bust.

Will Abreu be a White Sox in 2023?
The Mighty Mite replied to chitownsportsfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm not for getting rid of Sheets, he has played a decent right field lately, maybe somehow trade Pollock and slot Sheets in left field, he's younger and less costly than Pollock. -
4 billion people, half the Worlds population are expected to watch Monday’s funeral, will be the most watched event in Television history. Amazing.

The White Sox cannot be fixed by next season
The Mighty Mite replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I would have liked you to finish your evaluations. You left out some key players, Eloy, Robert, Vaughn and Sheets. Those 4 have to be key to competing next year. Eloy has really come on here in September, we need a healthy and motivated Robert. Vaughn leads the team in homers and RBI and Sheets has improved as a right fielder and we need his lefty bat. I think the one thing everyone can agree on is that TLR should not be managing this team next year, not sure if Cairo is the answer either, we’ll see what happens in the next 15 games. -
Maybe the Twins can squeak out another win tomorrow and the lead will be down to 3 starting the big series at GRF on Tuesday.

Do the Sox players realize that you have to score runs to win games. -
Is the best outcome the playoffs?
The Mighty Mite replied to Chick Mercedes's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I didn't vote because I don't think they will make the playoffs but option 2 is against my White Sox core beliefs, I want them to win every game they play despite their record or circumstances. That being said, there has to big changes on and off the field, this organization is broken and a mess. -

Don't hold your breath on the Twins sweeping in Cleveland, they couldn't win a game at home last week against the Guards. -

Still alive and kicking, a sweep in Detroit while maybe the Twins winning 1 or 2 in Cleveland would be just what the doctor ordered. -
Shut him down for the season, he isn't helping a bit and can only hurt the wrist more, wrist injuries can be very tricky and sometimes take a long time to heal, I speak from experience.

Does it make sense to be a team sports fan?
The Mighty Mite replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
As long as Reinsdorf owns the team, it will be more of the same, running a big market club like the Kansas City Royals. -
Urban Red Faber has the second most wins in White Sox history after Lyons and is also in the HOF. Another damn good righthander was Joe Horlen, he was only a lifetime .500 pitcher but his ERA was damn good, if there was ever a hard luck pitcher, it was Joe.
