  1. Great is a word that gets thrown around a lot when it come to sports. When I think of a great player, I think of HOF caliber players. Ruth, Gherig, Williams, Musial, Mantle, Mays, Aaron, Clemente, Robinson, Tony Perez, Rose and our Frank Thomas plus so many more. I loved Johnson, Quentin and Dye, very good players but IMHO not great and certainly not Hall of Famers.
  2. Durham might have been the 3rd best second baseman in Sox history but not close to Joe Morgan, Craig Biggio or Ryne Sandberg. That's the problem, we develop some very good players but not great players and like I posted earlier we don't sign great free agents.
  3. When you think about the franchise since WW 2 which I would call the modern era, it has had some great players, just about all of them what the OP would call the lower end of the top tier or at the top of the second tier. I would include Appling, Fox, Minoso, Aparicio, Fisk, Baines, Ordonez, Ventura, Konerko and Abreu. I might have left out a few but there has only been 1 Superstar and that was Frank Thomas. I omitted Dick Allen as he was with us only 3 years with 1 great year. The point is the 2022 White Sox are a continuation of what we have seen for over 70 years, we just can't seem to develop really great cream of the crop players and certainly don't sign any as free agents. As long as JR is around, nothing will change and we will continue having a mediocre farm system with lousy scouts, lousy managers and coaches but will still manage to win an occasional division title and of course lose in the first round.
  4. I hate this team, I hate the owner, I hate the manager, I need help.
  5. I agree on a PR, I'm blaming McEwing for not realizing Grandal is probably the slowest guy in the league.
  6. How McEwing sent Yaz home is almost criminal, he's the slowest guy on the team and looked like he was running in quicksand. I feel for Yaz as I blew out my ACL in 1977 playing tennis, only time I had more pain was when passing a kidney stone in 2017.
  7. I just checked the radar and don't understand why they aren't playing right now or maybe the field is unplayable.
  8. I'm too old for another rebuild but there needs to be some changes on and off the field.
  9. You're right, it's Premium. Last time they were on Peacock I'm pretty sure I got it for free,
  10. The Sox need to hire everyone they can from the Rays organization including scouts and Minor League managers and coaches, even the owner would work. Actually the best owner in all pro sports is the chap who owns the Lightning, we need for him to buy the Sox.
  11. If ever a team needed a managerial change, it was our 2022 White Sox, probably too late now to make a difference but this moron we have now should have never been hired in the first place. Another bad decision by JR in a 41 year span of many many bad decisions.
  12. Doesn't matter as long as JR is around.
  13. A pathetic owner, a pathetic GM, a brain dead and pathetic manager and a bunch of pathetic losers on the field. Last night was unbelievable with 17Ks and no walks, as a KC pitcher said last week, the Sox are easiest team in MLB to get out because they will swing at anything and refuse to work the count, that comes down to pure laziness. I've been a fan for 70 years and have also just about reached the breaking point. There will have to be a major re-evaluation of the roster this coming off-season, they are paying millions and millions of dollars on guys like Eloy, Moncada and Robert who spend just about more time on the IL than they do on the field. The trouble if the FO decides to trade these guys is what teams would take a chance on such fragile players. The FO may be stuck between a rock and a hard place.
  14. A Sox sweep would be great but I'm not holding my breath, no worse than 2 out of 3 is almost a must. If we get swept, it's wait until next year.
  15. And I hated paying 2 bucks for parking at old Comiskey when I bought my first car in 1964. The good news it was 1.25 for a General Admission seat and 2.50 for a Box seat.
