  1. I agree that 35th and Shields has never been the greatest spot for the White Sox, they drew well in the early years of the franchise and again in the Go Go years. IMHO biggest problem has been that there has been no period of sustained winning baseball except again in the Go Go years but even then we only had 1 trip to the World Series in those 17 straight winning seasons. They win the division once in awhile, lose in the first round of the playoffs and then we have to go through 5-10 of mediocre baseball only to see the same scenario. Meanwhile I’m pretty sure the fan base because of Reinsdorf’s miserly ways has dwindled down pretty low to where most of the metro population could care less about the White Sox. The only hope right now is Ishbia but there are no guarantees, I thought when Reinsdorf took over in 1981 that we would have a premier franchise rivaling the Yankees, Dodgers and Cardinals, boy was I ever wrong.
  2. Good to see Ishbia coming out of the woodwork, maybe he’s going to become owner sooner than we think, sure hope so.
  3. Looking at the 78 on Google Earth and with the new Fire stadium on the horizon where are the fans going to park? Of course that’s never been a problem with Wrigley as most take the L to that place, the question is how many Sox fans will take public transportation to see the Sox at the 78. Before we moved to Florida we lived in Wheaton and we always drove to 35th and Shields, I don’t think if we still lived in Wheaton that I would make many trips to the 78, certainly not night games, maybe the Metra for day games but it would still be a hike from the Northwestern Station to the 78, I guess we could take the bus the rest of the way but that’s a pain. I’m thinking at this point a new park at 35th and Shields on the location of old Comiskey might be the best way to go, transportation has never been a problem there with the Dan Ryan and the CTA Station right at the the doorstep along with the Metra station along the east side of the Ryan.
  4. My guess is that JR put a gag order on Ishbia as part of the deal until he gets full control of the franchise.
  5. No surprises with that poll, Ishbia when he takes over will have a monumental task righting all the wrongs by the Reinsdorf regime.
  6. Eventually with new ownership I think premier free agents will want to play with the Sox, the first thing would be showing the baseball world that the franchise is committed to winning.
  7. Too bad we have a scrooge as owner as I think some good free agent signings would get the team close to .500.
  8. I actually thought they were better than that, now I remember we had a long losing streak at the end that put a kibosh on things including avoiding 100 losses.
  9. Slight possibility because they did have a decent second but I think they would need a few more pieces.
  10. I’m of the belief that human nature says that even JR doesn’t want to be hated but it’s too late, so much alienation of the fan base in his 44 years can never be forgotten or forgiven.
  11. Good take, I guess we will never know.
  12. In a perfect world, MLB should force Reinsdorf to sell the team to Ishbia like today, yes I know it’s wishful thinking and I’ll leave it at that. This deplorable man has just about destroyed the franchise and I hope he knows that he is probably the most hated man in Chicago, nice legacy, the creep belongs in the Hall of Shame.
  13. He did make a phenomenal catch in leftfield that prevented a home run but otherwise he was horrible with the bat.
  14. When it’s comes to Baseball I’m for 2 clubs The Go Go White Sox and whoever is playing the Cubs.
  15. It was a huge mistake building the new Marlins park at its location, way too far south from the fan base, a better place would have been in the Fort Lauderdale area. The Rays have the same problem with the Trop, it’s also way too far south from the fan base, the new owner realizes that and look for a new Rays stadium to be built near downtown Tampa.
  16. Then they will be hard pressed to win 70 games. Beni should be the DH against RHP and Tauchman who I like is a 4th outfielder, somehow someway we need upgrades in OF corners.
  17. Sort of pointless to make lineup predictions as I’m sure there will be some changes especially in the outfield corners, we really need power as the corners and DH.
  18. I had mixed feelings with Katz, I wasn’t happy when he was hired and I’m OK with him gone but he did good work with the starters this season but the bullpen was a disaster, please Getz go out there and hire the best that you can find. I also have mixed feelings with Venable, so if he’s not going anywhere I hope he learns from a lot of mistakes in his rookie season as manager. His bullpen management could have been better and I also think he went the safe route on lefty- righty situations too many times with both our hitters and pitchers, sometimes you have let instincts take over. The positive is that the team played hard for him, we have a good bunch of players with no real jerks. It could have been very easy to just let the season play out but these guys busted their butts to the last out in the last game and some credit goes to Venable. Bottom line on all of this is when Ishbia takes over my guess is everybody will be gone, we have to remember this still one the worst organizations in professional sports.
  19. We have 3 good catchers and only 1 should be the primary guy with Lee the backup, I’m fine with Quero being the guy and if Teel could play the outfield or first base, that’s OK with me.
  20. Exactly, no way JR throws away 30 million dollars.
