The Rays have big troubles ahead, because the Florida rainy season is from June to October they had way more home games than usual in April and May. August and September will see them on the road most of the time, they have a 2 week 12 game west coast road trip coming up soon which is unheard of in this day and age. Back in the 50s, 2 week road trip were the norm. I remember in 1958 in middle of the summer the Sox had a 3 week road trip for the installation of the new press box at old Comiskey visiting the cities of 6 out of their 7 opponents in the American League. The new owner is from Jacksonville and wants a new stadium in Tampa. I agree coming from SW Florida to the Trop on I-75 and the Skyway Bridge was always an easy 90 minutes door to door, If they build a new stadium near Amalie it would add on another half hour to the trip.

It’s summer in Florida, after 32 years in Florida you get used to it. Summer in Florida is way better than winter in Chicago.

The new owner wants a new stadium in the Tampa Channelside district near Amalie arena, the Rays would draw much better there than they do in St. Pete. The Lightning at Amalie are on a streak of over 500 straight sellouts. Most of the population of TB is centered in the Tampa area and northern suburbs, it’s a real trek for all those fans to get to St. Pete and the Trop. It’s also hard for fans who live east of the Bay itself as they have to drive way out of the way south and then back north to cross over on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge.
