I agree, I was going to mention that but it was a little earlier than the All Star break but then again I guess it left a bad taste about TLR among the players, it sure didn’t help and then Yermin was sent down to the minors later on.
-
Exactly unless JR is planning on spending a fortune on free agents which ain’t going to happen.
-
All Good points and makes sense but I’m going to add that maybe these clowns weren’t wild about the firing of Renteria and being replaced by a guy who was past his prime and was just about brain dead in LaRussa. Not that it matters but I was incensed when JR hired TLR, JR has made tons of bad decisions in his 42 years as owner but the hiring LaRuusa is right up there as maybe the worst.
-
Something happened with the TLR hiring, I’m not sure what but things were never the same after the All Star break in 2021, after a really good first half they played .500 ball the rest of the way and then lost badly in the playoffs to Houston and played .500 again in 2022 and of course it really crashed and burned this year.

Right, remember when the new ones came out every year and you had to check on your name and number, brings back memories of the move “The Jerk”.

One thing I agree with JR on, I didn’t find Bennetti funny either. I hope this is the end of Sox Math also.

True story, it was 1975 and there were rumors that Harry Caray was going to move on after the season was over so after the last game I actually called the Ambassador East Hotel where Harry spent the season and asked the switchboard operator to connect me to Harry’s room and lo and behold he answered. We talked for 5 minutes and I told him how much Sox fans loved him we all hoped he stayed on. Bill Veeck bought the Sox that winter and he and Harry agreed on him staying with the Sox. Harry was as nice as could be and thanked me and appreciated the call. We all know he stayed on until 1982 when he had enough of JR and EE. BTW I also have a nice picture from 1979 at Comiskey that I took of Harry with my wife and son.
-
It’s been for 42 years anything but a class organization, neither JR or the late EE have no idea what the word class means.

Great announcers like Harry Caray, Ernie Harrell and Bob Prince could put fannies in the seats, Bennetti didn’t.
-
I won’t miss him and his silliness.

On a team loaded with unlikables Grifol is about as likable as Root Canal with a case of swollen hemorrhoids thrown in.

State of the Sox: Obvious to Everyone
The Mighty Mite replied to MysterySource5000's topic in Pale Hose Talk
As a Floridian I’m shocked by this but then again we’re not talking about a substantial number here, if it was something like a million White Sox plates I’d feel a lot better but still why are the Sox leading. -
In August of 1960 Trader Frank also swapped managers sending Joe Gordon to the Tigers with Cleveland getting Jimmy Dykes in return. Who could we get for Grifol? And yes, Indian fans went insane with fury when the Colivito for Kuenn trade was announced while the whole Baseball world was stunned with the trade while scratching their heads, 63 years ago and I’m still scratching my head over that trade. The 1967 White Sox who came close to winning the pennant with great pitching but pitiful hitting picked up Colovito after the All Star game but in 60 games he had only 3 homers and 29 ribbies, didn’t help much at all.

Exactly.

Definitely yes but he’s also injury prone, that and Getz also said there are no untouchables. Don’t get me wrong, I would like Robert to stay heathy and patrol CF for the Sox for the rest of his career but if they could actually improve the club by trading Robert, I would do the trade.

2024 Offseason Plan - "Try" to Compete Edition
The Mighty Mite replied to ChiSox59's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Right now Kopech isn’t any good as a starter or a closer. -
I agree 100% but how do you trade him and his fat contract.
-
Don’t be surprised if they trade him, don’t forget according to Getz there are no untouchables on this team. I have mixed feelings on Robert, he has all the talent in the world but there is something missing with him, like Moncada I’d like to see some emotion once in awhile from them, to me it seems like they just don’t care, scream at the umpire once in awhile, break a bat over your knee, kick the water cooler but these guys strikeout and walk back to the dugout like they’re out for a stroll in the park. I watch all the Rays games and the difference is like night and day between the 2 teams as far as emotion, caring and doing everything to win ballgames.
-
It’s refreshing that he knows the problems instead of feeding us a bunch of BS, letting TA go was a good start but there is so much more to do. I agree there are no untouchables and if it improves the club where they can pick up 2 or 3 guys who can make the team better then I’m OK with trading Robert.

2024 could be a very pivotal year for the White Sox franchise, I can never remember Sox fans being this depressed with the Sox, if JR doesn’t step up and spend some real money on premier free agents I think Sox fans will abandon the team and by the time the lease is up on Sox Park they won’t be drawing flies to the games and will be on their way to Nashville or some other city where there will be a lot more support. I don’t expect them to sign Ohtani but they need to think real hard about guys like Bellinger and a few more, signing guys like Whit Merrifield ain’t going to hack it. They also need to think seriously about replacing Grifol, it would go a long way towards Sox fans thinking that the franchise is serious about winning and competing as soon as possible, who gets that feeling with this buffoon that we had as manager last season.

I’ll be 78 soon, I don’t want to wait that long either. -

Tommy Pham is one of the most intense players I’ve ever seen since I became a Sox fan in 1952, I’m OK with him on the team, the thing is I don’t understand why he can’t stay anywhere very long. -
I like Sosa better at second base, if he works out that will be his position going forward anyway as Montgomery should be ready in 2025.
