  1. at least Maggs is 0 for 2 and has left three on base today. still looking for his first hit for his 15 million. Not so with Caballo 2 for 5, four rbis and his first home run with the Brew Crew. In case anybody is interested.
  2. not the most inspiring 13 innings of offense I've ever seen. Can't wait til we get to the Twinkie Dome to face Radke and Mays
  3. the Giants scored the go-ahead run against the Dodgers on an error by jose Valentin, who is now trying to become George Brett at third base. I have a feeling the move from Beltre to Valentin ain't gonna be well received in LA. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=250405126
  4. Yeah, he just half-assed a double play ball by Shannon Stewart, helping the twins keep a rally alive. they were down 4-0 with Santana on the mound. Now it is 4-3 Mariners and the Twinkies have two on and one out. If he is starting at SS for Seattle, Seattle ain't got much
  5. Can widger handle the job defensively?
  6. USA Today sports weekly says the Giants have been looking at Borchard all spring (seriously. Maybe because he's a stanford guy.) With Bonds out, he's just the solution. Maybe they could give us another Lorenzo Barcelo or Felix Diaz. We love their AAAA right-handers.
  7. Who is George Offman and why should we care what he thinks?
  8. better to be conservative with Buehrle. trying to pitch with foot or leg problems can often lead to shoulder problems. Buehrle is too valuable to rush at any point. I hope they let him heal properly, get in his rehab and then bring him north in mid to late May. as for the fifth starter, i'm not convinced BMac is the right choice. Damn, the kid started last season in Low A ball. He's barely spent any time in AA. Garland was lights out in the minors, too. It ain't as easy when the real red light comes on. Rather see the kid pitch in Charlotte.
  9. agreed. anybody got Boras' number?
  10. agreed on Crede. Sometimes "Flaw in the Swing" is code for slow bat speed. sounds like some serious work needs to be done with his legs to help him level his swing (and eliminate those weak soft pop flies to right field). He's been working on it since last fall -- and still doesn't have it right. Is anybody else thinking uncorrectable? Hurry Up Josh Fields or Micah Schnurstein. There will be ABs available at 3B soon.
  11. man, in two TV games our baserunning has been atrocious. at best.
  12. phillips is also the guy who brought Robbie Alomar to New York. probably not a Kenny Williams fan. This is the way for him to get back at him. This team has a bunch of guys with something to prove or playing for contracts -- AJ, Frank, Paulie, Everett, Iguchi, Crede, Garland, Pods, just for starters. That's a good thing. Four straight years of trying to homer our way to first place didn't work. It was time for a change.
  13. AJ will be the best catcher the Sox have had since Pudge. Case closed. Rock on, AJ
  14. It's official: Politte sucks. I'm out.
  15. three guys thrown out at home? I'm thinking Cora has a late afternoon tee time.
  16. who's coaching third, Joey Cora, Wallace Johnson or Wendell Kim?
  17. been concentrating on Frank. The Giants have put together some bloops and tied the game at 2. got a man on first with one out. feliz up.
  18. Frank said AJ drove him crazy while he was catching for the Twins because he talked all the time behind the plate. He's happy to have him on the Sox because he can swing the bat. Hawk loves AJ even more than frank. Hawk issues an open invitation to Frank to come back to the booth any time he wants during spring training. That is the end of the interview.
  19. says he is getting to the end of his career and he lacks one thing -- world series championship. likes the balance of this team and the speed and he believes the Sox will contend. really happy they filled fifth spot in rotation. They were really hurt by that the last few years. He is looking forward to a super team and wants the fans to get excited.
  20. Hawk says everybody at SoxFest asked him how Big Frank is doing. Frank says to tell people he will be back and he will be great. That he impressed Herm Schneider with his workout today.
  21. new lifestyle wants to lose 5 to 10 more pounds.
  22. says he heard Brandon McCarthy is a big Frank Thomas Fan and that it makes him feel old. Frank really sounds happy. says he has lost 15 pounds.
  23. says Ozzie knows what he is doing. says the club will be very competitive. says he has been on the Internet non-stop the last three weeks and knows what is going on. (EDITORS NOTE: Frank, if you're reading this, welcome back -- and welcome to Sox Talk._
  24. says almost finishing third last season with 242 homers was kind of sad. thinks this team will be more scrappy. with himself, Paul. Carl, Dye and Uribe, there will be more than enough power. And he says do not forget Rowand.' gets up 6 a.m. every morning every off season and that Rowand is the king of workouts.
  25. Frank said he wanted to flip (soft toss hitting) today. doctor said no. so he hit off the tee. says the biggest challenge will be running.
