  1. He's had a couple of good weeks in AA. Other than that, he's mostly a whiff king. His numbers will subside in Birmingham and he will not be with the Sox next season.
  2. Ravelo is the most intriguing prospect in the system to me. Dude just hits. takes his walks. Doesn't whiff much. power seems to be the only missing component. Also props to Sox pitchers. Addison russell 0-9 in two games against the Barons.

  4. Heard on the radio today that Dunn has not driven in a run since June 18. The end is near.
  5. Erik Johnson two innings, four hits, two walks, three runs, two earned. kid needs to take a few weeks off. something ain't right.
  6. Trade Jared Mitchell, ASAP. And any update on Hawkins?
  7. Did Anderson get hit by a pitch the other day?
  8. And a stolen base -- 28th -- from May. In May and June, he's hitting .317 with 38 runs scored, 15 doubles, 7 triples and 26 steals in 29 attempts.
  9. hold 'em and head for the airport.
  10. Surkamp has already been better than Downs. Throwing strikes. downs was always walking guys or going into deep counts. pitched like a guy who no longer believe he could retire good hitters.
  11. I really thought Erik Johnson was going to be the #3 starter on the big-league club. Oops. His season makes no sense. But it's good to see the way Jacob May has fought back. And maybe, just maybe, Davidson can deliver a solid final two months.
  12. Anderson A) resting; B) injured or C) promoted?
  13. Just played a clip of Robin on the post-game radio show. Sure sounded like Bella is out as the closer. Said that he was going to shake things up in the pen. Said that he and Coop were going to "hash it out," tonight. Said when he went to the mound he told Bella not to be afraid to throw strikes. Very complimentary of Petricka, but did not commit to him.
  14. Jacob May at .252 with 22 stolen bases. Considering where he was about six weeks into the season ... he's scored 22 runs with month with an ops of .894. needs to improve his walks.
  15. Downs appeared in 38 games and allowed at least one baserunner by hit or walk in 26 of those appearances. time for a change.
  16. thought this was supposed to be a short delay?
  17. it is indeed 13 -- fourth highest total in the International League. The only guys he trails are career minor leaguers -- Dan Johnson (16), Ruben Gotay (14) and Mike Hessman (14). So maybe there is hope. A little.
  18. players, not to mention Hawk and Stone Pony, have to be thrilled at the thought of getting to Toronto at 2 or 3 in the morning.
  19. Isn't Hahn in Baltimore? Just wonder if the Chairman will eat another contract, after eating Keppinger's?
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 02:48 AM) And that's no longer as compelling, as Hahn was willing to pull the trigger on the Keppinger mistake quickly. They have to pay him $250,000 for next year's buyout, but the bullpen is destroying the morale of this team. Agree. Not to mention the morale of Sox Talk. Can't stand the sight of Downs. He just doesn't have it any more. It happens. Wish it didn't. But it does. Both Hawk and Stone kept wondering why he never threw the fast ball high and in to Davis. Downs must not have the confidence to believe he can execute that pitch.
  21. No reason to blame Putnam. Downs was bad in spring training -- and has only gotten worse. Contract is the only reason he's still around. Leesman could not be worse.
  22. That's on Downs. He shouldn't be on the plane to Toronto.
  23. Scott Downs is the Sox pitching equivalent of Jeff Keppinger.
  24. Wow. Ubaldo has walked a million guys this year -- and breezes through the first on 9 pitches.
