  1. More from Konerko: This situation has run its course. Said he was relleved and he expected Ozzie, Jerry and Kenny were too. Players are human beings. Only so much they can take.
  2. Among many things Konerko said: This regime had run its course.
  3. QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 04:01 AM) Per my Facebook post: Like an innocent man on death row, the White Sox got the wrong man tonight. Kenny Williams, your table is ready. You have already committed $89 million to 11 players next year & your "ace" is pitching tomorrow in his "last" game. Your leadoff hitter might leave the team after a productive season. Do your job and make Chicago proud or get out & be looked down upon. As Guillen said, it was the players that won 2005 - not him (or you for that matter). Thanks for the memories Ozzie. Maybe they'll get the real terrorist next time. Amen. Every time you look at Adam Dunn's fat rump, think about who brought him into town -- and could force Mark Buehrle to leave next. Inexcusable.
  4. Mixed feelings. much appreciation for 2005. As time continues to pass, more and more confirmation of how hard it was to accomplish. Ozzie also gave the Sox a major presence in the city against the Cubs, Bulls and other sports competition. When Bevington, Manuel and Lamont got fired, it didn't lead Sports Center. But it was time for ozzie to go. He was a bitter guy the last few years. He talked tough and didn't hold many players accountable. And he couldn't even control his own sons. He'll be missed, but it had to happen.
  5. don't worry. Kenny will fix it. He has a plan.
  6. Questions: 1. How long til Ozzie and his kiddos come out firing? 2. Two days left with Sox players still around. How many will say good riddance, on the record? 3. Whatever happened to Sergio Santos?
  7. gotta have somebody who can live with Kenny's big ego. And somebody who is going to be OK with being stuck with Dunn and Rios for three more seasons. And somebody who knows that some of the better veterans are about to be shipped out for payroll reasons. the job is not as attractive as it used to be.
  8. Another day, another dinger for Morel. His confidence level should be perfect when next season begins.
  9. Kotsay/Thome, yes. but let's not forget that both of Kenny's kiddos are playing in the sox system. One was picked wayyyyyyyy too high. One of Ozzie's kids played A ball for a period and then got bounced. then the sox failed to pick Ozzie's other son, not once but twice. I think that -- along with the natural bruising that comes with two huge alpha male egos -- was also a major factor. be gone -- both of them. Neither one is worth the aggravation any longer. I think Sox fans would be happier with a more cerebral approach -- like a Friedman.
  10. Morel's track record in the minors was pretty consistent. Start slow and figure it out. his glove and arm can be a plus. His salary is essential with the contracts Kenny Stanford has stuck this team with. Morel is the least of our problems.
  11. Wow. who thought this team would be eliminated with TWO WEEKS left in the season? What an embarrassment.
  12. He's only 20th because he's walked 66 times. He's only walked 66 times because he goes up there looking to walk. If he had any pride, Adam Dunn would give back some of the money he stole this year.
  13. actually, it's 40-5. Sorry to dis the grit of this team.
  14. So this is like 32-4 in the last two games against the Tigers - and 40-4 since the Sox led 8-1 for that Saturday game????
  15. As somebody who has never seen either guy, I wonder this: Are Leesman and Shirek good enough to pitch in the Sox rotation in a couple of years? winning baseball?
  16. I'm not sure this team will lose another game this season.
  17. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 02:14 AM) Seriously though, I want Sale & Stewart both in the rotation next year. agree. Need a few league minimum guys as long as Rios and Dunn are around
  18. Crazy game. Hopelessly embarrassed last night. Supposed to be worn out after playing night game and then day-night DH. Now this. Who can figure this game out?
  19. QUOTE (MAX @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 02:00 AM) I doubt konerko wants to step on walkers toes. He doesn't seem like the type. SOMEBODY needs to help Beckham. He's better than this.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 01:59 AM) That pitch he struck out on was such a meatball Beckham has lost all confidence. Joltin Joe next. Gotta figure that Kubel or Cuddyer will pinch hit to try to stop this.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 01:56 AM) That was a long layoff for Zach. agree. And agree on Beckham. He's been hanging out with Dunn too much. As much as Konerko knows about hitting, you'd think he could help Beckham. Konerko has a great approach.
  22. just saw on the Trib site that he has been called up and expects to be there for the second game.
  23. Isn't Axelrod in the pen, in case Zach Stewart bombs again?
  24. I'm sure the Red Sox would be happy to send Jenks back. That was a brilliant investment by Theo Epstein.
  25. appears Tyler Kuhn finished second to Van Slyke in Southern League batting race. Nice season, considered the Sox jerked him around the last six weeks.
