Gonzalez walked a guy and gave up a bomb. That’s a completely different level than Oppor who once again walked three guys in less than two innings and threw two wild pitches. Oppor is completely broken. Sox are currently 0-3 on their top lefties. Is it time to scrutinize Bannister?

The Sox have several Christian players on their team now, including Davis Martin. I don't think they'd have a problem adding Roupp. I just don't think he's that good. If you give up assets, you've got to imagine the guy you get back starting one of the first two games of a playoff series. Is Roupp really that guy?

If they fix Shane Smith, he could also lengthen out the pen. Adding a guy with a killer change who can throw 100 would not be bad.

Last year at Birmingham I thought the Michael Brantley comp as well. Real similar looking swing. Obviously, Braden has significantly more power than Brantley did when he first came up as well as significantly more in-zone swing and miss. Gonna be interesting to watch him develop.

I just saw a headline on MLB Trade Rumors that the Giants are going to sell -- but Logan Webb is not one of the players on the block. That's the trouble with getting pitching at the deadline: All anyone wants to move are impending FA's and guys who pitched bad enough to get them in last place to begin with. The number of arms who would actually start in a playoff series AND don't cost half your farm system for a 2 month rental are few and far between. The last thing we need is to give up assets to acquire someone else's Eric Fedde.

Shane Smith and McDougal are also headed to rehab assignments. Pitching depth may be right around the corner.

Taylor didn't have it today either. The high leverage arms in the bullpen gave up all 4 runs. Newcomb/Fedde 5 innings, no runs.
